I agree with you: my impression so far (one month with a XC60 recharge, 3700km) is one gets the same mpg, after recharging during a ride. Suppose I am on a highway traveling at 100 km/h, my car is then making 12,5 km/liter. If I start recharging, the mileage drops to around 9 km/liter. But, I get back electric range. If I do that for one hour (100 km) I will get some 50 electric kilometers for the difference in consumption during that hour, in other words, roughly 8 liters in one hour, versus 11,1 liters per hour (those 100 kilometers). So, after spending 11,1 liters I get the 100 km already travelled and an extra 50 available, or say, 11,1 liters to be able to travel 150 km in total. That makes a mileage of 13,5 km/liter or 7,3 liters per 100 kilometers. Correct me if I’m wrong. Another point: if you’re traveling at 100 km/h and you’re burning fuel to generate electricity, there are certainly losses in the process. If you then try to travel electrically at the same speed, you are going to lose range, no doubt about it. But, and it’s a big but, when you’re going to expend those electric kilometers, you will be doing that in the city, in heavy or slow traffic, and then the efficiency of the ICE would not be as good as on the highway. So, my impression is: if you’re not gaining, you’re not losing either, because the electric engine is more efficient in low speeds.

Thanks Steve, where we are in the league is exceptional for a team formed just 10 weeks before the start of the season, however my concern is that Paul is saying were brilliant despite getting a bit of a pasting in the 2nd half. Truro must be really hacked off they left with nothing. The other thing that needs work is Hammy in goal and how he tries to punch balls away getting very little on it. I was always taught that if a keeper comes for it he takes everything including the ball as the forward will think twice about being clattered. Also Truro stuck a player on him and we tried to get a defender between the forward and keeper which lead to pushing and pulling. I say don't make it more difficult for the GK as he now has to negotiate 2 players rather than 1. Can't understand that mentality. Keeper is the one with gloves let him deal with it! Finally for goodness sake leave a player up when defending corners as they have to have a marker and screener to deal with it, that means 2 + GK + kicker of the corner means 7 in the box versus 10. Pulling everyone back means no out ball, chaos in the box and often shooters outside. My opinion not good odds!

As usual United started brightly for 20 minutes and then did what they have a habit of doing giving the ball away which creates pressure on the defence. Truro manager summed it up well as they bossed the 2nd half and I would have taken a 0-0 result as we created very little in regards chances and lost control of the game. Why can’t we play the simple ball? Skipper did what he always does, very little, won’t mark or pick up players and just sits on our back 4 even when defending set plays he just gravitates to the D and nothing else. Torquay are a fit side and it’s great to see them high in the league but I worry that we don’t break quickly and get numbers in the box and actually get some decent delivery into it and as this league is very competitive we need a Dawson type ;midfielder to control and guide the youngsters. Hi Steve, hope you are feeling better. I had my stat sheet ready for analysing Oscar’s performance so in one way disappointed he didn’t play but pleased in another way as he isn’t good enough. I thought their 22 was excellent always available playing simple good balls. Referee I thought had a good game and was let down by the assistant with the goal. Your vide shows clearly that as the ball was struck he was not only onside but just inside the area. The linesman flagged about 1 metre from the goal line and that was where the free kick was taken. Didn’t make sense. However I thought energy levels were good, new skipper sound and an OK game considering the rubbish of last year and the speed this squad has been put together and playing in a league where there doesn’t (at the moment) seem to be a really weak side. Not to be forgotten that teams coming to Plainmoor is like a dream, excellent pitch, really good crowds compared to the other low attendances in this division. Not going Tuesday as away on holiday. Well done on the commentary!
