Bugling Elk Outside Tent Wants to Charge
Переглядів 93 тис.12 років тому
We woke up to female and young elk grazing close enough for us to touch outside our tent. Soon after the male of the harem came within a few feet of us and stared us down. We froze, unable to do anything inside the little 2 man tent and hoped we wouldn't get impaled by the huge antlers. Thirty seconds after I stopped recording this video he ran back and stared at us for a good 60 seconds before...
SO CUTE
Very Good Video.. I am visiting you Now. Best regard
thats gotta be a memory that will never be forgotten.. tent camping is great but omg with those animals i would be in my van
Any other time these cows would be running away.
Beautiful amazing creatures, but I wouldn't want to be that close to them, or any wildlife. It can be so dangerous people have been gored to death. You were lucky!
Eh elk aren't very likely to mess with you it's the moose you gotta be worried about. Moose have absolutely 0 fear or respect for humans they will try to teach you a lesson if they think you have violated their space. Elk are either people habituated or absolutely terrified of humans and if they are habituated they will usually just ignore you for the most part. Just don't corner them while acting like a threat. Wild elk will just run away unless they can't. Even habituated elk will usually move along if you send some signal that you don't want them to be there.
btw, you put your tent in their space. Notice the Elk droppings near your tent? (not from these Elk) They were remarkably patient with humans who plopped their tent right in the middle of their grazing trail! why do you all have so much fear of the Elk? They rarely if ever "charge". Just be polite. You are in their territory. Next time look around the ground before you choose to pitch you tent, Be respectful of the Wapiti. I have lived around them for 25 yrs.
This is at campground with lots of people around and only 1 mile from town. The night before the same bull charged on a car and gave it a couple dents. The campground gossip was that he had moved in a couple weeks ago and started causing trouble.
Come in to eat the clover 🍀 and the bull says I'm getting the hell out of here I smell gun pounder.
He just wants to announce he's gettin a piece of action Don't all males do that?
Look at those antlers!
Not a good idea to be around them in rutting season only two things on their mind at that time its best to leave soon.glad you got to walk away from it.
these are not man eating Elk. Why perpetuate more fear? These people pitched their tent smack in the middle of the Elk grazing trail, the Elk were kind enough to go around the tent invading their grazing space. Be aware folks, dont intrude. Be respectful of the wild ones and check your fear at the door...
@@alaya9860 k but an elk in rut will eff you up. Theyre horny af and full of testosterone. Not friendly during this period.
@@alaya9860 what if you gather up all the elk poop and place it where- mr ranger sir- tells you to?
I know what he wanted to do, but she wasn't having any...
Wants to charge ? When ?
Click bait BS.

Female elks are also huge animals and will trample you. Their hooves will puncture with ease all body parts. Don't underestimate.
you have NO idea of what you are talking about. Pls dont be a fear monger. These people plopped their tent smack in the middle of the Elk grazing trail. Totally unaware of the Elk. The Elk you say are so dangerous, quietly walked around the tent while foraging for dinner. Pls stop creating fear of the wild ones. It is not helpful
Is this at Yellowstone?
I love their color!
Must be in rut. He's gorgeous!
Ya think---???
Trumpeting! Lol. Funny!
Where were you, how far away were you, was that a zoom lens?
We were in a tent with no where to go. The calf got close enough to touch. The bull was 20 ft away. My phone did the recording.
@@aspjut Just breathtaking and can’t understand why this hasn’t gotten more views, even years later! Maybe change the description, mention the cow & calf also as this deserves to be seen !😃. Awesome capture and thanks for sharing !👍
Awesome exsperiance, great video. You don’t mess with a bull or his cows during rut that can be bad news .
A bit fidgety and the other person refuses to stop talking lol but im thankful you uploaded this video
Très belle vidéo. Merci. Tank you
I can’t believe they didn’t smell your scent.
Oh they did! Just damn near tamed! Probably Banff Canada area! Ubshould go. Super awesome in September!
These elk are used to being around people
Not so easy to remain calm, but you did and so he didn't charge - great moment, awesome video.
Love the encounter! Glad you got to experience it and get it on film, but "wants to charge".....I think not. Just checking out the distraction to him getting a little funky...
I loved that cute ass shot at the end. they like you !!
