MEN NEED TO READ MORE!
I'm bringing back this channel.
Anyone still here?
In which I talk about why men, specifically younger men, are not reading anymore, and what they should read right now. Now more than ever, men in the United States need to read more. Literacy is not simply about physical writing and reading but understanding context and the bigger picture.
I discuss the following in some length:
Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury
The Catcher in the Rye by J. D. Salinger
The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath
Not a Scientist by Dave Levitan
Missoula: Rape and the Justice System in a College Town by Jon Krakauer
Invisible Women: Data Bias in a World Designed for Men by Caroline Criado Perez
How to Think Like a Woman by Regan Penaluna
The Tale of Princess Fatima, Warrior Woman - from the Arabic epic of Dhat Al-Himma
Aphrodite Made Me Do it, Artemis Made Me Do It, and Persephone Made Me Do It by Trista Mateer
Sorry I Didn't Text You Back by Alicia Cook
The Spy Who Came in From the Cold by John Le Carré

Drew University Class of 2012 Graduation

This has been long overdue. Been meaning to put this together for a while. Everything shot, directed and edited by me. Yes, I was the one who did the HvZ videos. They can be found in my other channel on my main page. Separated into three parts. First part is a bunch of great memories from all 4 years, second part is graduation (3:24 to 6:27) and last part is about campus and Madison. Of course,...
Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain Trailer Review
Переглядів 66311 років тому
IMPORTANT: So I just realized the video cuts at 4:45 for some apparent, unknown reason. Unfortunately I already deleted this video from my files. What I was going to say was that I think the main character's name is "V" because the woman at the end says, "V has come to," referring to how the character just woke up after being nudged aside. In which I briefly give my theories and tell you the na...

First Comic Book Review. . .Thing. . - TUROK!

I like how I only showed you one page. You thought I was going to show you more, didn't you. . . Despite living here for years, I never actually ran into this comic book store that has a HUGE collection. That's where I found the first issue of this Turok series. Like I said, it seems to be hard to get. Haven't even seen it in NYC at Midway Comics.
The 39 Steps Book Review
Переглядів 85211 років тому
I always seem to forget what the 39 steps were. . . Verdict: Wasn't too excited about it. Good plot but less interest in the main character Richard Hannay. Apparently John Buchan also wrote more books with him? Any info on that would be interesting.

I feel like men need to be encouraged to actively start reading works where it's not all about self inserting. Like actively read stories with female protagonists, read stories written about women, about queer characters. As a man self insert into the stories that don't represent you on a physical level but you can definitely connect with intellectually and intimately.

you’re so right about this and it needs to be discussed more!! also i appreciate you speaking about this in such an honest way. a lot of people are afraid to talk about politics at all rn (and i understand why) but i think this level of directness is important!!

It's been made several times. If you want to see a really young Sir Ian Mckellen as the villian (Chauvelin), then watch the 1980's one.

I came across this video because I'd decided to revisit The Scarlet Pimpernel - I "read" (i.e. ClifNotes'd lmao) it back in high school and remembered liking it, but couldn't recall what it was about. This review won me over! Didn't hurt that you're insanely, incredibly, absurdly handsome.

I thought i didn't like this book cause i wasn't in a good mood, but it's nice to know that someone else thinks the book is dull. I also agree with you when you said that we don't go into richard's character, which was a miss. John Buchan also wrote Greenmantle, with richard hannay as the main character, in the beginning of the first war. Penguin published this book with a nice cover just like the one in 39 steps, but i really don't want to read it cause i think is gonna be boring and much longer than the first book.

I would have to say From Russia With Love. I love the plot, BOTH in book and on film. The film added a whole new dimension and twist to it. I also love Goldeneye as a close second, but it's more of an action hit, but I love the fresh dark undertones in that one.

Great video! James Bond fan myself, must have watched all 23 movies hundreds of times. I'm curious to know what your favorite James Bond movie is actually. Mine is one that suprises a lot of people: "Licence to Kill!" Yes, the least succesful Bond movie (inflation adjusted) is my favorite movie! Very underrated, unique, dark, thrilling and highly entertaining Bond adventure! What is yours?

Read The Spy Who Loved Me, I was fascinated by how good Fleming was at this stuff. Unfortunately, Bond and his lover are not very clever in this one. It struck me and kind of spoilt the book. But still worth reading.

I believe it is Big Boss. It can't be solid, clone of Big Boss or not solid has his own will and body and mine. Big Boss even said that to solid in mgs4. I reseach Big Boss and analisys how he acts and everything points to him. Big Boss was said to lost a limbs after Outer Heaven but mabe he lost one maybe before Outer Heaven

I think it is Big Boss. Yeah he doesn't act like a noob but you have to remember he was in a coma for (possibly) a long ass time. He has no idea whats going on last thing he remembers is that he was fighting and now all of a sudden his body feels heavy as fuck, his arm is gone, and the place he's at is being attacked? I would be asking questions too. I just hope Solid Snake is going to be the main playable character in MGS5, I miss that guy.
