Nice job Tech! Great tip.
Double the voltage, IR Testers use DC voltage
How did the job come out?
Awesome content man are you oem Trane service?

@MrApplied oh yeah definitely!
I do love those intellipacks. Blue hoses are a game changer, right? Keep up the good work! 💪
Nice looking unit there. Great advice! Leave the Trade better than you found it. Keep that content coming.
Out with the old, in with the new. Nice work.

@deavonsanchez3084 yep one of the txvs failed shut. Bulb lost its charge.
@cjshvacjourney4034 how many years you got, and wya
@@deavonsanchez3084 I have about 5 1/2 years in the field
Hi mate ,,,,did you change ,,vfd drive ?
That's something that would happen to me
Learning more about trane watching your videos, keep them coming man.
Bad valves?
scroll plates have have fallen apart
Have you done a comparison test on it with fluke or other brand on a failed compressor? I know you got them. How to use it a select correct mega ohms for testing motirs and compressors ? Is it bellow 30 mega ohms bad on 4000 mega ohm setting ? Give me your knowledge.
Can you explain how much knowledge you got on how much The resistance should be ? If you were to use a regular ohm function on a regular meter what would shoe on thus compressor?
@xraybravo7180 Honestly I'm no expert especially on meggers but I think you should be able to see at least 40 Mega ohms to ground with a good meter such as a fluke to determine a problem. I pretty much pull out the megger to see if it is taking the voltage I apply to it for a motor or Compressor. I could be wrong but the ones I have tested were not taking the voltages I applied to them were failed because I try to always make a comparison.
That's a new one
Time for some flex tape 😂 Now seriously... THE SCHRADER CORE DID THAT?!
Yep that Schrader shot out like a bullet I meant to take a picture.
@@cjshvacjourney4034 wow that's insane
Yes. Because it didn't go into your eye, praise God. This is one thing that you will make sure you don't repeat. Some of my best lessons happened on a roof.
Amen that would have definitely put a hole in my eye! Thank God it didn't!
I wonder if you can isolate that section of the coils?
You cannot once that hole is in it you have to repair if you can if not replace the coil.
At 1:13 are those gauges showing a bad compressor? (Even pressure at both high and low sides)…..
Nope it's under nitrogen for the pressure test before the vacuum.
I’m trying to understand what happened?? Is that a hole in the coils or is there a valve there? And if so what happened?
the schrader valve down below the coil shot up into coil and put hole in coil he had to braze shut.
@@ranger178 wow that would suck. Did it do this while you was messing with the valve or something?
@@jacobhendrickson8935I was trying to replace a leaking discharge line Schrader on a preventative maintenance and had trouble removing it because my tool didn't seem to want to grab it so I removed the part that grabs the Schrader and valved it off. Put a rag on top of the tool while slightly purging and I thought I had the Schrader break free and I removed the rag and opened it little by little and saw on liquid coming out and thought I was good and turns out the Schrader was still in and blew into the coil.
@@cjshvacjourney4034would attaching another core tool to the core tool and keeping the second closed be a safer way?
@yinggamer7762 Yes that would definitely be safer i didn't think of that.
Better lodged in the condenser than you , better the system bleeding gas than you bleeding. Cold comfort I know but ... and that's my hvac pun for the day .
I don’t work on big units like that much but is there anyway to close off valve to compressor and save some refrigerant if that does happen? Or not even worth it ?
Nope once that coil blows it's over you can start recovering refrigerant like I did to prevent it from venting into the atmosphere. I got about 37lbs out but I just put virgin refrigerant back in
Ahhhh ok, that sucks man sorry that happened to you but at least you got it going again. Good luck and keep on posting!
thats a pricey oops!
Damn son thats wild, did it get stuck in the appion vcr while changing it out?
It wouldn't come out with the tool so I valved it off with a rag on top and cracked it. Thought I heard the schrader blow off so I valved it off removed the rag began cracking it and only saw liquid coming out and opened it a little more and it shot out like a bullet.
Damn punctured the condenser above it. Literally a bullet.
Can you describe in what order you did this job?
@@diegopa9980 1. Refrigerant recovery 2. Un-braze old compressor/ liquid line filter drier. 3. Install new liquid line filter drier/ compressor. 4. Pressure test for leaks. 5. Pull deep vacuum and verify it holds. 6. Charge system with refrigerant and verify proper operation. There are much more things involved but this is the basics
Double the voltage on a Megger
You didnt hold the test button long enough. You can see it only sent 14v through. Also you have the wrong voltage selected
Like your videos, want to learn more about trane, keep them coming.
I might get one of these
I think you nailed. Nice job.
What wound up being the issue?
The neutral wire was loose inside one of the electrical boxes.

This megger better than the supco one?

hey man what service area are you in.
@@Swxnflu South Carolina
Your not even using it right you either have to hold it down or put it in test lock mode both of which you are not doing, your not megging this compressor at all.
@liamaaronduran Look close at the megger I already had pressed the test lock button 👍
Good job 👍
Thanks!
Thorough! Nice! Wish my techs would follow suit! Hard to find good technicians.
Thanks trying to get better everyday!
The shaking is creating more thermal heat transfer into the ice water. Also, best to have icy water, not just ice
Makes sense, fuller it gets more energy is needes to compress and creates more heat in the process. Shaking it liquid starts moving and cooling faster. But this should always be plan B, plan A should be having emptier tank in my opinion. Not an expert just observing.
why not create a jig using small car radiator or old used evaporator with fan to cool the refrigerant instead of using ice.
@jungapo2 lot of work I never really thought that far because ice seems to work great but no telling what I'll try in the future.
That is essentially what the this recovery pump does, hence the fan in the recovery machine. However in hot environments (summer in the south) this pumps internal fan can’t overcome the heat load. Therefore the recovered refrigerant gets hot and causes the pump to shut down due to the extremely high pressure. 134 degree temp of r410=500 psi. Using the ice bath is necessary to complete recovery.
