Do you know where the important fuses are in your RV ?
Do you have any spare fuses on hand ?
I think it is important to know where a few important or key fuses are located in your RV
and having spares is a good plan.
I hope showing you where a few of my fuses are, inspires you get at some fuses to your RV go bag.
Make a list of the fuse types you need and the amp rating of each.
Having 5 fuses is not overkill to have on hand, you might be the one that can help someone at camp.

RV slide out wall repair | TheRVAddict
Just last we had a broken leaf spring going down I-10 on a Saturday. The hardest part was figuring out the replacement part. Just the # of leafs is not enough. Distance from eye to eye? Is it a double eye? We weren't moving again until Monday waiting for places to open. Buy a spare and carry it with you. Total cost for 1 leaf and guys getting us off the interstate $950.
Gave up on UA-cam, hey?
Dont replace your RV steps. Just put a few of those yellow leveling blocks under each leg to provide support.
My friend had the standard one and he stuck it on the refrigerator then it stoped working lol
Watch the first 5 minutes
Most helpful, all steps thx
Get to the point , just wear gloves
The risk and expense of your transfer switch going bad (You might be without power for weeks waiting for one to be installed) Is hardly worth doing just to prevent having to go outside on a rainy day Or in the middle of the night or both To unplug from the park and plug into your generator. You also should mention that only a technician Should work on your automatic transfer switch. Most automatic transfer switches are supposed to be serviced (I don't know how often) and have torque settings to clamp down on the wires; not very many people have such a tool.
How do you change the battery?
It's pretty bad when it goes off at 1:00 a.m. then it goes up at 2:00 a.m. what you right when you went back to sleep
I have a 1984 Norcold Electronics 838EG3. Can I run it just by 12DC and not use propane?
This is the best video I have seen and the only one 1,800 later that the RV Guy didn’t fix!
How do i safely cut the power wires?? Mine is going off because it needs to be changed. But i cant find any info!
I thought you can view the levels when away from home. Mine was doing that but now it won't update when away.
Great video Thank you so much I need to replace the leaf springs on my older 27' camper as well, big project and this really helps I'm going to give that business a call can't bring the camper to them safely but could possibly order the springs and parts from them I'm in Quartzite Az now but Thank you again 👏😎😊
You’re welcome, good luck with your project!
I bought lion energy's full Safari ME kit which included the Safari ME, the expansion set and included 6 24v solar panels. All 6 solar panels came with a sturdy carrying case. Since then have bought one more ME and two more expansion packs great company
I have an 80's RV with 1 starting and 1 house battery under the hood. If I connect the solar controller right to the RV fuse box, would the solar power charge the starting and house batteries?
If I connect the solar controller right to the RV fuse box, would the solar power charge the starting and house batteries?
I'm going up today I have no one else and I have a new hip bad knees and another bad hip but I have no choice. I've gotta see where my back end of my long slideouts leaking in from. Winters coming in on me quickly all I have is that white flex seal tape I hope I can do my best with what I got
Great job/ video Going to do mine today. Thanks
How much did the seal material cost? Thanks. I had mine replaced under warranty when it was like new. It started binding up really bad, the replaced it, stop binding but then wouldn’t flip out when opened. Now the new one has a big kink in it, and now will probably need to be replaced again. I bought a new camper to cut down on problems but that is a joke. These things are slapped together and are just not built to give trouble free relaxation, lol. UGH!
That was a while ago so I do not recall the costs. You are correct. Craftsmanship really needs to be improved .
And, and…now you are “Elmer’ing” me on RV’s! Excellent video for new-to-us Tiffin Allegro owners!
I’m glad you’re enjoying the videos! thanks for watching and finding the channel ;)
I have 1999 Safari Trek 2630. 1st, I noticed that the pump would run constantly when I turned it on. Then I noticed that the water level was dropping, even though I wasn't using the water. Then I noticed a small puddle of water, maybe 8" dia. after about 48 hrs. I went to fill my tank (1/3 as I was going to be travelling). I hooked it up according to the manual, opened the fill selector, turned on the water and the water went straight on to the ground. What am I missing.
Shut the door!@ 😊
Wow this has helped alot .Im in a borrowed RV and could not get the freidge to work. thanks to you ,its now working
My RV has no power what so ever, this video has been the best help I have found so far. (after literally many videos) It gives me a starting point. I appreciate you.
Maybe I misunderstood, but did you say you had a 50 amp inline breaker that you replaced with a 250 amp? Did you upgrade the wiring to handle that current? I have an odd situation with my small trailer; it has two 50 amp auto reset breakers, but the WFCO Power Inverter that came with the camper can charge my batteries at 55 amps...which of course keeps tripping the auto reset until it decides to just charge at 6 amps...
I upgraded to 4 o cable, a huge upgrade. Yes the breaker to does not sound good
@@RVKevin Wow, that's huge cable!!! And I'm just thinking of going from 6g to 4g!!
Exelent video this has been the best of all worlds , for me tanks for keeping us rolling,
Hey boss, nice informative Vídeo. The issue I am having is my battery getting discharged after one day. Changed Alternator and checked Starter. Seems like there might be a ground taking the power of the battery when it sits. 1996 Winabago adventurer RV 34 footer deisel pusher. Any ideas?
Yes, get a low cost DC clamp meter. It will show any current draw. It clamps around a cable loosely like your thumb and forefinger. You can do all kinds of investigation with that tool.
I just seen lion energy in Costco and the solar panels do have a really nice carrying bag
Thank you sir for Sharing your knowledge .
I just found my controller in an insane location, hidden behind nailed paneling on the slide. It seems intentional to make us go to dealers and buy new parts. LCI parts are maybe 5 times more expensive than others. It's frustrating, but I am a capital. I just wish I could hot-swap my phone battery in 15 seconds... Thank you for the validation.
I have a 2012 PW Excel with a Dometic RM8505 fridge. post struck a cord as I have issue with elevation over 3,120 ft according to the fridge manual. A new control panel was installed by previous owner, but don't have details of which one. I have owned since 12/22. Did your new control panel fix your issue with going up in the mountains?
It never was an elevation issue after replacing the controller. Highly recommend doing that upgrade
Oh boy 2 years old, ify you can get longer legs for your steercase.
Everything in this video could be used to advertise a 12 V compressor fridge.
I'm going to be using an ICECO fridge in my vehicle. Not an RV.
Refrigerator in a slide out on warm/hot days is very hard to keep at a safe cool temp. Fan has been added inside etc
Two days before our trip, I freeze 16 water bottles and put half in the freezer and the other half in the refrigerator just to help the cold process begin.
Use only top grade fuses. The two best brands are Bussman and Littelfuse. They will blow open reliably at the rates amperage. The cheap bargain packages of fuses that are sold at the big box stores are not reliable. They have been tested and found to be dangerous to your equipment.
Your fridge will turn on by propane and battery, but it will take 3 to 5 days to actually get the right temperature to use for storage like almost everyone else
You can speed that up by using freezer packs and use a re-circulating fan inside the fridge section. Pack the freezer full of frozen food, leave space for the recirculating air in the fridge, never pack the fridge section full.
@@ScubaSteveCanada no good, freezer packs and frozen goods will only last no more than a few hours at a temperature of around 90 degrees(just use for storage)
Very informative video. It seems like the fridge light stays on when door is closed
Best intro, change my mind.
I use white lightning chain lube, clean and reapply every trip.
Great tip!
Drawing a conventional 12v battery(s) down to 50% will reduce their life significantly. AGM are somewhat more tolerant of deeper discharges, and the t105 type 6v battery is quite a bit better still. I take my agm batteries down 40% only before recharging.
You're doing a great service. Thank you for doing this video
Excellent Presentation And Valuable Information ! Thank You For Sharing.
Outstanding video Sir! Much appreciated and definitely going to check my fuses and load up on the ones I need.
Sad to see that Ed Helmick passed away July 23, 2024. I have a few collections of his iconic photos on our wall. He will be highly missed.
I did not know that. I saw Ed in the hospital a couple months back. Ed was a happy, fun and sharing man. We will miss him. Thank you for letting us know.
Great video, no annoying background music, i learn that that thing that was laying around attached to a cable is the thermistor...thanks,
I've found that it is pointless to precool the fridge before my trips. I prefer to let frozen half-gallon milk jugs do the work along with pre-cooled products. I turn on the fridge at my location, usually electric, and rotate the jugs to maintain one frozen. Maybe I put one in an outside cooler. My fridge is more efficient with propane and uses little to run for several days in the event that I don't have shore power.
He gave me some facts a rv owner would never know tho !
