To be honest, I really didn’t like this episode. I’ve come to the conclusion that I hate seeing the doctor being tortured (I didn’t like Heaven Sent or Midnight either). I know people love these kinds of episodes because it gives the actors a way to demonstrate their skill, but I can’t get past the torture aspect of them. You did a great review, nevertheless.

Ultraman isn't really an anime, it's a tokusatsu series like Godzilla, Kamen Rider and Super Sentai/Power Rangers. But it does have a deep influence on modern pop culture, because if Ultraman didn't exitst, we wouldn't have Pokémon.

Pity The Beatles were seriously underused (and a pretty much nothing for George and Ringo), a downbeat chat in a canteen with John and Paul and that's it for the interaction with Ruby and the Doctor. They weren't even good lookalikes, you'd only know it was meant to be John because of the glasses, which were totally wrong for the period. John actually wore glasses more like Buddy Holly's, and even then only in private. He was embarrassed about wearing glasses at all, and particularly the National Health round ones, he only adopted those in public much later in his career. In a reflection of John's early hero, Buddy Holly, (Buddy wore glasses... therefore they could be cool), the round glasses became cool and iconic by the fact that John Lennon chose to wear that style and The Beatles were trendsetters. When dealing with something as iconic as The Beatles a little homework wouldn't have gone amiss. The plot point later in the episode where the floating musical notes appeared over the 'Mrs. Mills' piano would have meant very little to them, as none of The Beatles could read musical notation.

RTD wrote all of them except Boom and Rogue

I smiled throughout both episodes. A lot of people seemed to really dislike this episode but I enjoyed it. As a bit of lighthearted fluff it was great!

i think some people have got abit lost in the sauce. i love the playfulness of the new series for two reasons first is that is is just fun, taking being silly as seriously as you take being serious has some neat outcomes. secondly it provides contrast, anything dark in the show will stand out more because of all the lighter stuff. Contrast is so so powerful. also i will say RTD knows exactly what buttons he is pushing and is clearly having a lot of fun with it.

The old lady that Maestro killed was the main costume designer on Doctor Who in the sixties and seventies.

Movie was incredible. It shows how Elvis literally grew up in the black community, hung with black friends, and was continually exposed to black music and culture as a kid. He didn’t appropriate the music, but rather, that’s what he knew. It was completely organic. He blended white country with gospel and R&B. The movie could have focused more on his movie career, and how frustrated he was with it. And uh, Elvis was a serious player. They touched on it

My childhood

So many dialogues are changed from original cinematic taste to "for children" lines. Thank you US distributors keeping anime unmature, childish and less appreciatable.

The bread scene is so badly done in the movie it hurts. They made it seem like Peeta did something wrong and even apologize later like WTF. In the book, this happens when they are both 11 years old. Katniss's father died a few month ago. Her mother completely shut down, and Katniss and Prim were left on their own. They are starving. At this moment, Katniss is so weak, she's trying to find foods in the merchand's garbage. Peeta's mother sees her and screams at her to leave. Katniss just gives up and wait to die in the rain. Peeta sees her, he burns the bread (just a bit) so they can't sell it and have to throw it away. This is real expensive bread, even Peeta's family couldn't afford that, and Peeta burned two loaves. His mother screams at hit, calls him "stupid creature" and hit him with something. Then she tells him to give it to the pigs. Peeta waits for her to leave, then goes outside and throws the two loaves to Katniss. It fed her entire family for several days, it literally saved them from starvation. The next day, Katniss saw Peeta at school. He had a black eye and a bruised cheek. She wanted to thank him but didn't know how. Instead, she looked down and picked up a dandelion in the meadow. This reminded her of everything her father had teached her, how to hunt and how to gather plants. This gave her the courage that she needed to go by herself in the woods. She knew at that moment that they could survive. This is how she started hunting. And to this day, Peeta represents hope to Katniss. She refers to him as "the dandelion in the spring". When he's reaped, the first thing she thinks is "no, not him". She feels like she owes him so much and she can't understand why someone would do something like this without expecting anything in return. This kind of kindness is a mystery to Katniss, that's why she has such a hard time understanding Peeta at first.

"At the mention of my name, Peeta's face contorts in effort. “Katniss…how do you think this will end? What will be left? No one is safe. Not in the Capitol. Not in the districts. And you…in Thirteen…” He inhales sharply, as if fighting for air; his eyes look insane. “Dead by morning!” Off camera, Snow orders, “End it!” Beetee throws the whole thing into chaos by flashing a still shot of me standing in front of the hospital at three-second intervals. But between the images, we are privy to the real-life action being played out on the set. Peeta's attempt to continue speaking. The camera knocked down to record the white tiled floor. The scuffle of boots. The impact of the blow that's inseparable from Peeta's cry of pain. And his blood as it splatters the tiles." Peeta fought so hard against the highjacking. He managed to warn them but he paid the price :-( It's a callback to the scene with the bread. In this one, Peeta and Katniss were 11yo. Peeta knew he would be punished for burning the bread. His mother hit him with something so hard that he got a black eye. But he did it anyway, to save Katniss and her family.
