Maker and player of fine guitars. I’ve been making, playing, and recording guitars for over 40 years. I currently own Baxendale Guitar in Athens, Ga. 706-546-1116. We specialize in the green tech of remanufacturing old American made department store guitars. With our proprietary process we transform these old inexpensive instruments into new vintage world class guitars. Rather than making new guitars look old by faux relic’ing we do the opposite and take old guitars and make them structurally new again yet keeping the cosmetics of a well played guitar. With our tuned proprietary scalloped X bracing these guitars compare in sound to instruments costing much more, and they often have the mojo and tone comparing to vintage guitars costing thousands more. Baxendale Conversions, world class acoustic guitars that musicians can afford. H319 Comparison video
These are two Silverton H3 19’s that are made by Harmony in Chicago and sold through Sears and roebuck stores throughout the 50s and 60s. These two are from the early 60s and one has been fully remanufactured by the Baxendale conversion process and the other is original with its original crude ladder bracing. This video attempts to demonstrate the different sound between the two designs of bracing. The Baxendale conversion has tuned scalloped bracing. The other one has the original crude, ladder bracing. The ladder braced Guitar has a tone that is all fundamental with very little harmonic overtones, it also has limited headroom. Baxendale conversion Guitar with scalloped X bracing has a much more sophisticated sound with complex overtones especially in the Lo mids and the low end. The Baxendale conversion also has a much higher headroom level meaning that you can dig into the guitar and it just keeps getting bigger and bigger. It doesn’t top out like a hard limiter.
This Baxendale conversion is currently available and we have others like it is so if you’re interested, please give us a call or email us.

Sounds killer, looks beautiful - curious on the neck profile for a fingerpicker
It’s kind of a chunky neck typical of this era Kay.
Beautiful music thnks😊
I still have that!! LoL 😂
Sir you play beautifully; aside from the great sound of the guitar, it is very lovely. I recently bought an old archtop kay just acoustic off eBay. The auction went on till the last second haha! I won though. I subscribed 🎸
I own one identical to this same burst finish. (My 618 is a 51’ model year Edit)Even though these are ladder braced originally and folks want to X-Brace these, that is fine for some. As for mine it has a very haunting and deep distinct tone that I do not want to compromise so ladder braced it stays. I do love that guitar Scott it is very special! Thank you for sharing.
@@Gratefulman1965 You should have one of each! Thanks.
Wow! Beautiful looking and great sounding guitar! ❤
Very nice sound. What kind of pickup did you use on this one?
@@shrubhater It is a mini humbucker I get from Allparts.
@ sounds great. I feel like it brings out the real sound/beaty if the guitar. Thank you! 😊
Awesome guitar! You’ve definitely brought life back into that beauty. Sounding great! ❤❤
Absolutely can’t believe that the people have retardation and elected a convicted criminal who has been connected to Epstein and Putin!!! Saddest time in our history
The backside of the headstock and neck displays a beautiful combination of two different colors of the natural grain of the piece of wood used to build it. Very cool looking guitar with an amazing sound! Great job sir! ❤❤
As a fingerstyle player - this is my dream tone :)
@@jamesdiller2613 thanks! This guitar is available! You are my dream customer!
Beautiful inlay work (purfling) on the top of that guitar. Amazing sound too! Great work!❤❤
i just happen to have a 165....hmmm
@@darlacurrey-colter3844 it’s one of the best models for our remanufacturing process.
Yes! Gorgeous looks, and gorgeous sound! ❤
Wow! I really wasn't expecting that sound - and obvious playability - from a guitar that looks like that.
@@simoncroft What we do is kinda like putting a V-8 into a Volkswagen. These little guitar usually sound great.
Normally when you see, grab, and play these types of guitars, they don’t sound too good because of the way they were originally designed and built. Let some unsuspecting guitar player grab this one and they will be blown away at how great this one plays, feels, and sounds. Magnificent work sir! ❤
Those old cowboy guitars never sounded this good! Great job sir! ❤
It's great that you are saving these awesome old guitars. Very inspirational. Keep up the good work.
woooooody! love it .. .
Looks perfect
@@JackOusley it’s pretty clean.
Best investment you’ll ever make, folks 👍🏻
Awesome guitar! ❤❤
❤❤❤❤
I am far distance and difficult frontiers for packets from you. I manage with second hand Yamahas and Casa Nuñez the most (Casa Nuñez was well still exists the most good brand of standars guitars here in Argentina for a century so you can rely for a spanish Casa Nuñez and also made low line steel acoustic that are just ok like an Aria for example). My best guitar bought new was a top of the line made in japan Ovation steel electroacoustic but I somewhat got bored as times passed by because the Ovation is round and myself am round too 😂 then my great Ovation is now with my eldest son and I manage with my used Yamahas and not worried if someone steal me a guitar or broke they are cheap but do the job until I would be playing in a stadium for my fans some day 😂. Greetings from Argentina, South America.
Beautiful maker and player!!❤
Sounds sweet n warm ❤
Very cool
