What a lovely video with splendid photographs and film footage too! I have been a Romanov enthusiast since I was 16 (I'm 45 now) and I have been to Russia 3 times- to St Petersburg, Moscow, Tobolsk and Yekaterinburg. I've been in the Governor's mansion in Tobolsk (where they lived in late 1917 early 1918) and to where they were murdered in Yekaterinburg there's a church on the exact spot with a reconstruction of that infamous cellar (which really is that tiny). They also murdered several other Romanovs and the people who worked for them who volunteered to stay with them. They were a lovely family who all loved each other and they genuinely cared about people. Apparently when the experts looked in the Grand Duchesses' photo albums they were quite surprised by the amount of photographs of naked men they found! Rest in peace 🙏 the Imperial family xxx

While there is, of course, great sympathy for the tragic end of the Imperial Family, they did bring it upon themselves. The Czar left St. Petersburg and permitted his wife to run the country. She effectively appointed Rasputin as her chief adviser and, on his advice, dismissed most of the competent Ministers. Rasputin, naturally enough, advised her to appoint only those who were not opposed to him - men of the very lowest ability and morality. The Revolution broke out because simple logistics were not followed. Rolling stock was diverted to the front, so that food from the provinces did not reach the cities. The resulting starvation was the trigger for the Revolution. If the country had been properly governed, there would have been no Revolution.

I watched Assassin Of The Tsar years ago and Malcolm McDowell is a brilliant actor anyway and was great in this film I still can't believe they killed the children aswell, it's sick and disgusting. I think the best reconstruction of the Romanov murders was in The Crown People moan about the Germans but at the time they were trying to save the Romanovs but the evil and despicable Bolsheviks had other ideas We should have got them out of Russia the first chance we had, I don't know where they would have lived but they had enough money to pay for everything they needed I have been to Yekaterinburg twice, the first time I went I was thinking "this is where it all happened" and I didn't like it at first but then I realised that Yekaterinburg is actually quite a nice place now and the people are lovely

Hauntingly moving and beautiful video. You intrigued me to read the book now too. Even though the true story is heartbreakingly tragic, it's fascinating to ask and think "What if?" Just looking at their photos makes you feel as if you knew or know Alexei and Anastasia somehow.
