Good idea installing the heat sheild. Also you left out one step when you installed that kit, you forgot to mention what you need to do if you want to use the engine cover.
@@phantomfixer thanks! Yeah any car I own I always get rid of the engine cover, seems like it just directs heat right back at the engine

A little late and I'm sure, by now, you have figured out that that alternator requires an external voltage regulator, and your car is wired for one with an internal regulator. So, you probably could have swapped it out with the original Vega alternator.
@@miker252 better late than never haha. Ended up using a 1 wire alternator with the v8.
I have the same error, left turn signal just starts blinking away randomly. I´m pretty sure it´s those contacts. The Tech 2 sees it as a normal "use" of the left blinker so thats why I dont get a error. When I turn the turn signal lever right, TECH2 recognizes that both Signals are being sent simultaniously and correctly states: Signal implausible
@@shakalpb1164 interesting. It did look like the terminals had worn down on the one I replaced and I had the exact same issue you are experiencing. I really think I should get a tech 2 at some point

@@OnlySAABS I’ll take it 😂
The bolts on your rear torque arm mount drop out. Mine have to be pushed up on the V6. The power steering lines block them so I have to drop the subframe. That said, it's important to replace the motor and transmission mount because any vibrations are picked up by the engine sensors and they read these as misfires. The timing gets thrown off and it causes engine damage. Pay a few hundred to fix the mounts or you'll be paying thousands to fix your engine.

Good, helpful video, albeit a bit scary when you had everything apart. I'm looking at a 2006. What are the concerns if any?
With a blast luck of the draw seems to be part of the game. If it has a stock exhaust you’ll want to get rid of that. The stock ones crack.
I was able to get my blinkers to work fine, I used a metal brush to clean the corrosion, but now my high beams will not turn on. Somehow I must not be putting it together properly. I'll try again later.
It’s really tough to get it just right. It took me 3 separate tries to get everything in there and to where it would work right. I remember the pieces being small and tough to deal with. One of those “I need 4 hands” jobs.
Nice video man!
Thanks dude!
Headlights on these things always cause me grief. I have an 07, same color combo and attempted putting in LED's and without a tech2 it was impossible to not get them to flash... I really don't want to have to buy a tech2 for $350+ just to replace the headlights. I did just put new Bilstein struts, shocks and new springs on from esaabparts and the car rides amazing... Like new and corners flat if you have not done that yet. Pretty pricy but well worth it.
Dang I guess I’m lucky I didn’t have those issues with my headlights. They were just foggy and I wanted to try something new. I’m actually riding on b6 bilsteins all around! Definitely improved ride quality.
The LEDS blinks because of the automatic control of light integrity that puts a current in the circuit, normal bulbs are not involved but LED light is. To avoid this problem I purchased the software from Maptun that disabled the lights control, so now I have LED lights with no flickering
Thanks for the video. Im actually in the garage now watching your video. Just changed the master cylinder. But a question... When I took off the master cylinder the pushrod inside the servo was loose. And I noticed its a fixed one without any possibility to adjustment. Was it like that on your car too?
Yep! It was like that on mine.
Halo 2 marine supremacy
A low battery can cause a host of different issues. The computer, especially, needs a full and uninterrupted current.
It caused a world of grief on my wife's 2013 Impala. Battery was at 11.5 V and all kinds of codes were popping up. New battery, no codes at all. Sometimes we get lucky with a simple fix. (although, putting the Impala battery under a frame member wasn't kind of the engineers! ☠☠)
Nice vid bro any tips for a first time Saab buyer. I am looking to buy a 08 2.0T base with 114k 🤔

@@1998kid1 dang! Honestly I don’t know, I have a ton of bolt ons but I haven’t actually tuned my Saab yet. I’m sure there are people with more knowledge on the subject than me.
When will your next Vega video be out?
Just not sure. I am really backed up with side projects for customers, and those take priority because I will be getting paid for them. This is how it ends up getting neglected like this. I’m just so busy. But I have the parts for it, just a matter of time now.
Hell yeah, I hope you’re doing good! I know shits kinda up in the air economy wise. Do you take video ideas? I have a 2004 buell blast myself, but belts seem to be a gamble, anyway to convert from a 3/4in t139 belt to a 1in belt that Harley uses today? Btw, what area are you located?
Hey thanks! That does seem like the type of conversion I would like to do. I was able to find a belt years ago after mine snapped on me. It’s funny though, Harley belts rarely go bad and they seem to last forever. I work on a ton of Harley’s and I have yet to do a belt. I would also think once you got a wider transmission pulley you would probably need to change the wheel in the back to accommodate a wider belt. It may be an upgrade I do some day. I’m in Pennsylvania outside of Philly 🤘🏻
@@ddubsgarage8285nice! I’m in the Missouri area, I picked up a buell that the belt snap on (got it for 960, runs and starts with no problems). Found out Harley doesn’t make the belt and left to scouring the 30+ belts online with very “good” and not so good reviews, some as bad as “I put the belt on, rode 3 miles and was left stranded when the belt came apart”. I’ll let you know what my results are, ordered two, one from Amazon from a Chinese seller, one from eBay from a place based out of Kentucky. Hopefully one is good enough to get me home if bad fortune shows up. Hell, I’d try a chain conversion if I had the knowledge on that stuff but I’m farm from a bike mechanic.
@@vashspecter oh gotcha, I guess I got lucky finding my belt a while back. I guess it’s more the baggers I have never seen a bad belt on. It’s funny, I actually looked into doing a chain conversion because I thought it would look cool 😂 part of the reason Harley uses belts is to dampen their rough offset firing order and smooth out your ride a bit. Let me know how you make out 🤘🏻
FWIW, the steering wheel bolt in our 07 uses an 8mm (5/16) hex, and was incredibly easy to remove. Didnt have a socket for my impact, used a 3/8 ratchet with ease. Thanks for the upload!
Oh Fewsh! Sometimes those steering wheel bolts are tightened with the strength of Hercules 😂 that’s good you were able to zip it off
@@ddubsgarage8285 slightly more than hand-tightened lol. Ended up the CIM was replaced at some time since it was manufactured in 2008, a year after the car was built. I assume whoever installed it didn't torque the bolt down much. I found the turn signal switch contacts were flaking from use, causing a .5-1ohm resistance between them, just enough for the signal to stay activated. Cleaned everything up and lubricated with dielectric grease. Turn signals work properly now.
@@frostbite1991 the contacts flaking is just what happened to mine! That’s cool you were able to repair it instead of replace it. Good stuff.
