Cadw ein gorffennol i gyfoethogi ein dyfodol. Mae Ymddiriedolaeth Rheilffordd Llyn Tegid yn codi £ 4.5 miliwn fel rhan o Brosiect y Ddraig Goch i adeiladu'r estyniad i Reilffordd Llyn Tegid i Orsaf yn Nhref y Bala. Am yr hanner canrif ddiwethaf, mae'r rheilffordd wedi terfynnu yn ei safle anghysbell bron i filltir y tu allan i'r dref. Bydd yr estyniad yn dod â’r rheilffordd i’r dref, bron i’r stryd fawr y Bala ar hyd glannau ogleddol y llyn, gan roi un o’r golygfeydd gorau o drên all rhywun ddymuno amdano yn DU.
The Bala Lake Railway Trust is raising £4.5 million as part of the Red Dragon Project to construct the extension of the Bala Lake Railway to Bala Town Station. For the last half century the railway has terminated at its remote terminus nearly a mile outside the town. The extension will bring the railway right to the Bala’s high street along the north shore of the lake affording visitors one of the finest views from a train anywhere in the UK.

Bala Lake Railway Extension ITV News Update 2022

In 2022 ITV Wales correspondent Rob Shelley joined Julian Birley BEM to walk the route of the proposed extension into Bala Town. Broadcast on ITV Wales.
As a retired locomotive engineer from across the pond, I will be encouraging your quest in seeing this noble dream become reality. Good luck!
They should reopen the whole line down to Barmouth!
Good luck, the town needs it, the railway needs it!
Still this application drags along, the last I heard was that they did not want the line extending into the town as this would cause too many people to go there and this would lead to an increase in the use of toilets and this would cause an increase in the amounts of phosphates into the river. What Welsh Water fails to realise is that most of the phosphates enter the river as run off from the surrounding fields from waste caused by all of the grazing animals, only a very small percent (1%-2%) is down to human waste, which should be treated correctly by Welsh Water. This is starting to sound like an episode of Yes Prime Minister, lets hope some one with a bit of sense can sort this out, will it be nappies for humans and animals.
Best of luck with the application. I know Bala well after many holidays in Corwen. We loved the trip along the lake on the train with what was then small kids. Everyone was so pleasant and friendly Wish you all the best 👍
Good luck
Good luck with this! I still think it was absolutely ridiculous that it was refused in the first place. I fully appreciate the concerns but rather than an outright refusal a simple "yes with conditions" would've been better. Money could've then be spent on that rather than having to go through this again.
Give the project a Welsh name like Gorsaf Ganolig y Bala and it''ll get approved in an instant
Good Luck! Here’s hoping it can go ahead this time!
Crazy that so many obstacles have blocked their plans. Local people welcome it !
Stupid ignorant welsh town planners
All the best, and really looking forward to seeing you next time we meet! Good luck! 😁🚂
The local authorities are right to reject permission if the effects are too adverse, but they should also work with the scheme to provide a suitable solution. If the locals want it, schemes like this should be made to work.
Good luck 🤞🏻
All the very best from Picton, South Island, New Zealand. Have been following this project from its earliest days, I am sure it will succeed this time.
best of luck! lets hope you are successful this time round
Good luck , great progress, fingers crossed,
Ridiculous refusal! What a travesty this money raised had to wasted!!!
Great video Julian. Gerry & Jenna, Wexford.
Good luck with the application. Seems a lot of money involved preparing the planning application. The small railways of North Wales are a great tourist attraction, bringing money into the area. Not everyone can or wants to climb Snowden.
Good luck. Hard to believe that your application was refused in the first place.
Fingers crossed.
£350.000 to get that piece of paper. How do we ever get anything done in this country... Well done, anyway.
Looking forward to travelling by train from Bala.
Good luck hope all goes well
Fantastic News. This link into the town increase tourism to the town , thereby more jobs , its a win win. Cannot wait to see that but of paper.
Absalutly fantastic news. All the best to all involed
Great work Julian.
