Two 1982 Imperials Powered By Original EFI
Переглядів 2732 роки тому
Final video of two 1982 Imperials powered by efi. One is a rare Sinatra edition! These were the most expensive American personal luxury cars of the Reagan era. Frank Sinatra helped sell them and as a result there was a Sinatra edition offered. Both were barn finds and were revived after sitting for decades
First Drive in Decades- 1962 Imperial Lebaron
Переглядів 2,9 тис.2 роки тому
An update on the 62 Imperial Lebaron I saved a few months ago. This is its first drive in two decades! This is a car from the Jet Age, driven by royalty including the Duke and Duchess of Windsor and the wealthy. Milburn Drysdale from Beverly Hillbillies even had a 62 Lebaron (mine may have even been the one from the show given the registration history), it complete with push button transmission...
1962 Imperial Lebaron Rescue!

My most current rescue/barn find a 1962 Imperial Lebaron. Imperial was created by the Chrysler Corporation’s luxury division Imperial. This car was created during the height of the Cold War and is considered a ‘Forward Look’ Mopar of the Virgil Exner era. Complete with a push button transmission!

these are just absolutely plummeting in price. it's unfortunate for the older fellas, the ones with personal connections to these vehicles are dying out... and the younger generations don't have the want nor the know-how to keep up on the maintenance even though it's quite simple. and brother, get some new rear wheels... those spokes are NOT supposed to be at that angle. you can find kits online for them, and the Amish make them still.
How much they go for?

Great video! I was there in the Datsun 280ZX.
I have a 21' chevrolet ... bolt! 😂 It too is black, I love it, and I wanted to see what chevy looked like 100 years earlier, so thx 4 the vid!
Were ar you from is the price $500 for this Buick i have been looking for me another one in this model so i would i be able to get in contact my name is Larry
Were are you located at
I can see Frank Sinatra in the drivers seat now with 5 of his girlfriends in the car with him. 😂😂😂
That's in great shape. Nice color too.
Can you assist me on getting technical manuals for the EFI system? Thank you! Very nice cars!
Grandma Buicks are great cars; cheap too! Great find there.
It’s a sin because I feel that they nailed the looks!
If this was my car, I'd only play Sinatra
O bucata de istorie. Super cool omule, chiar imi place.
groovy tape deck
So, do you have all the cassette Sinatra tapes, which came with the car? That is the important part.
Dolby and DNR are two different noise reduction systems.
Usually the capacitors get leaky with age. I've had about 4 or 5 of those late Imperials. I thought the FS edition was an '82 MY addition. The best factory radios to get are the mid '80's Matsushita built equalizer/amplified AM Stereo tape decks. I used some of the Infinity speaker amps for my rear speakers from a LeBaron or minivan. '81 was the best year in my opinion. The seats were nicer. There was a radio repair shop near me that closed down 20 some years ago and they were liquidating the radios. They did warranty work for Chrysler and GM. I got a TON of OE Chrysler radios from the '80's and real early '90's for like $50 a radio. They were just like brand new because the guy would fix them when they were 1 or 2 years old and swap them out. I still have a lot of the nicest ones. I have the factory engineering and training info on the EFI. I worked on my own and got it running. I bought one car, which was a cream puff, 30k miles, because the dealer couldn't figure it out. Took me one $3 can of carb cleaner. A pressure switch was stuck.
I think my grandpa had one in his New Yorker to
The Sinatra edition is pretty epic! I can remember seeing Imperials like this being driven by Chrysler Execs here in Detroit.
Very cool!!! I picked up a 1923 nash and its cool to see that even in the ealy years cars were very similar to eachother. Your car is a good driver and not stress about it.
whos your radio guy?
The 1981 analog style cassette stereo is reliable and made by Motorola. These Chrysler digital cassette stereos were made by AudioVox, known for making aftermarket cheap stereos (I know because I installed an AudioVox in my 81 Isuzu). I've had a couple of these Imperial stereos work to a degree, but never fully. They do look nice, though, and compliment the Imperial's interior.
Very BEAUTIFUL
And BEAUTIFUL
This Car is so AMAZING
Welcome back to the Malaise Daze II featuring Jimmy Carter's protege Joseph R. Biden. 😩 Ugh 😩
The blue one looks great !!!!
This was my 1st car! Looking to rebuy now that I'm established financially!
WHAT is wrong with your back spokes! Why are they all curving to the right like a vortex???? Anyway, Chevrolet was not a high end manufacturer and would be a step down from Briscoe and Maxwell. This 490 Chevrolet was not the Model T competitor, it would be the Chevrolet Superior that was the Model T competitor (the one that looks like a Model T). Most Chevrolets in 1921 where a shade of dark storm blue and olive green, but keep in mind that the unimpressive feeling of this vehicle is very well residualized! This 1921 Chevrolet has a very dated design for the 1921 modern look. This looks straight out of 1915... Just look at a 1920 Cleveland, or a 1921 Haynes, or a 1921 Elgin for comparison.
You are incorrect 490 was the competitor to the model T in 1915-1921 hence the name and the price. The Superior was the successor to 490.
@@1941Dodge1 I see, I assumed the superior started in 1920 from something I saw a long while ago. Sad the Chevrolet would try to follow in the Model T footsteps, Chevrolet had such a nice look in 1913-1914, though did maintan a separate model for the long touring design thankfully. Still, the Ford Model T concept was a dreadful one, and ruined the reputation of the era for people today who think all cars back then looked like that.
I have a 1918 Chevrolet BabyGrand FA5. Bought new on our farm and traveled to California from Saskatchewan Canada twice. back when it was new. So no nice roads for a 3 week trip one way. I will have to put a video of it on here someday. Nice little 490 you have
I love these, I have owned two. A Custom Coupe and a Crown convertible, both 1962. If circumstances alined I would love another. This time a four door hardtop of any model. I'm smitten.
The Imperial FS nameplate is missing from the front fenders but other than that it looks beautiful. The prettiest car from the 80s imo
Great Imperials! Do you have an email I could contact you please?
Really nice blue 82. But I thought the Sinatra edition had a sunroof?
Please, don't give up on it. I remember those seats when they were brand new! Please, restore it as best you can. My late father (God rest his soul) called the rear lights of the "62 LeBaron" Gunbarrel or Gunsight lights. My late mother's favorite Imperial was a late 50's model (God rest her soul). It was a white one with stainless steel located on each side of the roof. She was impressed that her front seat would turn to let her out.
okay...I was young when this car was brand new. My father, at the time, was rather wealthy. My sister and I were treated like Royalty in the late 1950's and up to the mid 1960's. We had a Nanny and a guard dog, from Belgium, which sat stationary between my sister and I during any drives, in that same model car. We were not allowed to have friends as a strict rule. Other than that our life was amazing, looking back. We had a brand new Chrysler Imperial leBaron every year. This one you're showing was my absolute favorite! It was a show stopper, all shiny and people always commented that my father should have had a chauffeur. He always replied, "There are not enough seats for us! I'm not the Shah of Iran!" (By the way, I still know the present Shah.) This Imperial was amazing all brand new and shiny. Believe me. I'm in my 70s and still recall that beauty. Make it all shiny and new again, if possible. I'm so envious of your find. *Vraiment! C'est tout simplement incroyable ! Je n'aurais jamais pensé revoir ça. Où as-tu trouvé cette voiture spéciale ?
I rented a 1986 model when they were new. Nice car.
Cool car. CBs were a factory option, however, it would have the Ford logo on the handset and no antennae mounted on the trunk. Mini vents were optional and only standard on certain models like the Collector’s Series. 👍
Yeah mine always said 99mpg as well.
Very nice car.
You should treat it with permethrin to keep the termites at bay (dead)
excellent . I have a 40 two door . I converted to 12 v. Runs good and finally got to cruise in it ....a bucket list.
Last year for breaker points was in 72. Electronic ignition became optional. Standard equipment in 73 in all Chryslers
Chrysler REALLY should have used the exact same chime sound that was used in the 1976-81 Cadillac Seville for the seatbelt reminder, along with the other functions for the 1981-83 Imperial instead of the electronic chime as that would make it even more elegant.
I love it👍😀!
Those salespeople at the end.... what a trustworthy bunch 😛
Nuthin' says "kwality" quite like a long Limited Warranty! (When a new car comes with a long _Guarantee,_ I might consider buying one.)
52 years old in 73'.
Love It! Just out of curiosity how often do you have to oil those rocker arms?
