In 2013 a coworker was at LAX waiting for a flight when a when a terrorist shot his way into Terminal 3. I've carried a North American Rescue (NAR) IFAK, in some form, w/ extra CAT tourniquet ever since. Only once did airport security take a second look, and that was a layover in Heathrow. STOP THE BLEED!

That is a great kit for a small take everywhere type kit in an emergency or even if hiking if seperated from your bigger bag. Nice set up. A water container might be a nice addition but that looks good, it's something everyone should have in a vehicle.. Thanks for posting. Ps, I like that it isn't expensive gear and everyone can put something like this together.

There is some back and forth on how well/if at all they work. Definitely better than nothing but if they do in fact miss a lot of stuff than you can make yourself sick using them. More research to be done on that front.

@AtwoodThreads thankyou very much for the info. I have a couple, but normally carry the Sawyers because everybody in my area carrys them and they work well. I guess I'll have to look more into the lifestraws before putting too much trust in them. This is the first I've heared of them possibly not being reliable.

Well done. It is hard to make any first aid kit compact. Especially a trauma kit. The one thing I would add to that and all first aid are a couple pairs of nitrile gloves.

Great minds indeed! $65 is pretty solid, dang. The copilot rocks hers in a pouch as well for her purse, mostly identical to mine with slightly less extras. I'm still on the fence with them since I haven't seen enough data but the Snakestaff ETQ could probably be a good size for this.

I use the Nalgene clear outdoor one with blue top for electrolytes, hot water in sleeping bag on cold nights, and pee bottle at night to avoid getting out of the tent. Triple crown thru hiker as well as Arizona trail, Colorado trail and Tahoe rim trail. so multiple uses 108 grams is fine for what I use with it. ultralight vs lightweight is negotiable I don't notice the weight between a gatorade 1l vs my Nalgene when carrying 20 -30lb loads. load up your pack and substitute each bottle and tell you feel a difference??

Great modification. I also like that you made the smaller bag. I think it would be interesting to see how you make those bags along with other modifications. I don't see much of that on UA-cam. I know my bride would love that and perhaps she could make us some bags. Great video!

When you put something in the slip pockets that fills the slip pockets from top to bottom, that will prevent you from opening the front flap and folding it out. I have several Rush packs, and that's a problem with the admin compartment on all of them. That could be fixed by making the front flap unzip all the way down to the bottom of the flap to make it clamshell all the way open. If it has two zipper controls or whatever they're called like the Rush packs have, then if you don't want it to clamshell all the way, you just unzip each side down from top toward bottim without unzipping it all the way.

Outstanding! I have similar for ladies in my life. What I also noticed is: the bag zipper being in middle. Funny story. In mid 90s, I was a young Paratrooper/medic and my senior line medic taught me to put aid bag zippers in middle for easy ID during low light ops. Fast forward to now. I've been a paramedic/FTO for 25 years, I still place zippers in middle and teach young bloods the same. Channel subbed!
