      Thanks! appreciate the support , I have UVI subscription they have good VST instruments and scoring tools, and for this , the build up’s used a few of their transition VSTs, one is a noise generator with mod-wheel you can roll up to peak and drop out on a scene cut , Omni sphere is good too, otherwise I had a few analog synths, matrix brute, slim patty, polybrute and digitakt 2 for the industrial beat ,

    • @indiefilmcomposer
      @indiefilmcomposer 4 місяці тому

      I do but thinking about selling pro 3 for Polybrute, I think the sequencing workflow is better, more efficient with the brute and it has real time recording vs key step input only on the pro 3, pro 3 can be more aggressive and has a very expressive range , depends on what your goals are in the studio , pro 3 is all over the board a lot of duplicate sounds across the banks and not organized by type, I like the matrix brute preset system better I can organize by the row

    Hey man. Really nice and interesting video. Thanks a lot. Is the tone starting at around 1:20 made with the voyager? It's huge. I'm looking for a desktop synth for this warm sub bases. I do ambient and melodic electronic music. Would you rather recommend the voyager RME or Slim phatty. Or let's say, in case of sub bases, would the slim phatty do the job also well, if I can not find or efford a voyeger? I own a Minitaur, but not that happy with the sub bases and it drives me crazy that I can not store presets at the machine.

    • @indiefilmcomposer
      @indiefilmcomposer 4 місяці тому

      Hey thanks, yes that is the voyager, so the slim phatty has a very good low end and pure analog power however it is one mono out so will not sound as wide and rich as the voyager which is in stereo , If the price is not a factor and you have room I would choose the RME , slim a close second w wider variety of sounds than the Taurus, and it can sound very big

    Got mine on Friday. Absolutely blown away. As a keyboard player of nearly five decades, I suddenly feel I've been liberated in some way; gifted with an unexpected expressivity. If you're wondering about disabling the pitch bend for the lower notes to avoid accidental triggering... so far I've not found a way to do this for only one region of the keyboard - at least on the instrument itself. From what I have found out so far about the accompanying Eaganmatrix software, I think it should be possible to copy a patch and make a "non-bending" version, then create a split patch from the two of them. A bit fiddly, though. I really think there should be a split point option for pitch bend (and for pressure glide too). If I've missed anything, feel free to enlighten me!

    • @indiefilmcomposer
      @indiefilmcomposer 7 місяців тому

      I haven’t tried splits yet but that is a good call out because the bass lines may not want to bend along with upper register instruments , that was the odd thing with some demos the playing wasn’t realistic, wells that’s great other than my guitars I didn’t have a way to be this expressive in real time without key switching but that wouldn’t solve for dynamic performance , volume expression across your fingers all independent as I mentioned In the demo was my biggest takeaway and ability to perform articulations with one press of the finger which I will explore with next video 👍🎸

    At last this is the type of demo I've been looking for that really shows the capabilities of the Quantum. Particularly love what you did with the koto/klavier and guitar chord samples. I've been thinking recently that I might prefer granular synthesis when it's smoothed out (pad like), because when it's very grainy it's unmistakable as granular synthesis...so maybe some day people will look back on a lot of granular stuff being done today as sounding cliche/idiomatic and dated. What do you think is the next best form of synthesis on the Quantum (besides granular) for sound design of an imported sample?

      You can load samples into wave tables and the resonator engines and get some very good results but I think even with the granular engine doesn’t need to be grainy you can smooth it out with the settings you should also check out the GR 1 it’s a granular since they can sound very good

      @@indiefilmcomposer Sounds good thanks, would love to see a demo featuring sound design of imported samples on the quantum using wave tables and resonators if you ever get the chance...Will check out the GR 1 for sure :)

    Very impressed with this, but while everyone talks about its infinite possibilities, it always sounds glassy in every demo. I'm wondering if it can do any other tones that are not glassy. I'm thinking the only way at the moment to really get away from that is by using your own samples. Wondering if people might release sample banks in the future to expand the timbral capabilities of this instrument...

      Thx I think your describing the digital architecture and basic sound character of this synth I dropped in a guitar string E in the second video opening and it does sound more organic .....I mainly use this for wavetable and sample based granular pads now with endless reverb and I think this is where the synth really shines and it’s a good contrast to other analog gear they blend well together

      @@indiefilmcomposer Yes, I was thinking that was the basic sound character, which I don't mind as long as I didn't imprint my music too much with it. Thanks for the feedback, will check out your second video. :)

    The multiple engines attracted me too. Just having trouble taming this thing, everything sounds like a pad. But there's so much power.

      Yes I use the granular engine a lot with guitar string or cello strings recorded and then set the control fx of endless reverb to the mod wheel to increase amount and can get some amazing organic pads ....with mod wheel down the reverb is dry when up its endless .....I don’t use the standard wave forms much but the preset big sun is great pad

    Impressive synth. I'll have to go with their Largo vst and my HG Fortune vsts until I can use my next stimulus check as a down payment.

      Evets Nitram the iridium looks like a good value , You can find good deals on the quantum on reverb .com if you watch the synth

    Great demo and very informative. Did you get to try/compare the quantum to Hydrasynth? I'm curious.

      Belated response, I haven’t had a chance to try the hydra synth but you tube videos sound very digital and less features so I think a step down

    Very nice video. I'm not in the market for this machine. If I have money like that too spend it'll be for an audio PC, but nevertheless I was very entertained throughout the whole vid. Good stuff!

    Love your Quantum videos, very nicely done! As a ambient musician I’m interested in the Quantum but I can’t justify the price point. Now the Iridium is on the way so I’m curious about the similarities of both synths. I know, the analog filters of the Quantum are missing in the Iridium. Which filters do you use in your patches, did you prefer the digital or the analog filters? I already own a KYRA, hope the Iridium will be different sonically to compliment the KYRA. By the way, I’ve just subscribed to your channel. 😊

      Chandro Ji appreciate that ......the iridium looks like a great value , quantum prices on reverb.com have really dropped its worth a look you can save 1K or more .....it looks like the iridium doesn’t have reverb or delay etc fx......? the effects section is the best I have ever heard and since your into ambient either one is a must have ...thx for the sub I am wrapping up a feature film score that took a few months and need a break then will have more content soon
