How to gain the trust of shy or defensive rabbits
Being prey animals, rabbits often can grow very apprehensive about people reaching towards them. If you have a rabbit who has become very scared or reacts poorly whenever you reach towards them, this is a great exercise to help gain that rabbit's trust.

This video demonstrates how to take a rabbit out of a cage and put the rabbit back in again. Taking a rabbit out of a cage is particularly challenging for people who are new to rabbits. Therefore it is best to have someone who is experienced take the rabbit out for you so that you practice and get comfortable holding rabbits before you attempt to take them out of cages yourself. Rabbits tend to...

This video shows the WRONG way to approach a rabbit that you have never met before, even though it shows a typical reaction from a well-socialized rabbit. Rabbits who have learned to trust humans generally do not care how you approach them with your hand - they see an oncoming hand as an opportunity to get petted. However rabbits who have not learned to trust humans yet often find it very threa...

This video shows a rabbit’s different reactions to a hand moving towards him horizontally at his eye level versus a hand coming down from above. The nice thing about this video is that the rabbit reacts slowly, so that you can easily see his ears flatten back before he slowly lunges forward slightly. By doing so, the rabbit is clearly expressing that he finds my hand that is moving horizontally...

Approaching a skittish rabbit from above rather than from the front can be an effective way to start patting them. In this video, note the different reactions the rabbit gives when approached from the front versus from above. In a sense, you are forcing them to submit which seems a little unfair, however it allows them to experience positive social interactions, which is what shy rabbits desper...

This video shows an example of the right and wrong ways to approach an aggressive rabbit. From a rabbit's eye level perspective, you can better understand why they might feel threatened and also emboldened to attack when a hand moves towards them at their level. They tend to submit when a flat hand moves steadily down from above, which in turn allows them to relax and enjoy being petted. Most r...

This video shows the right and wrong ways to approach an aggressive rabbit. Aggressive rabbits will lunge and attack hands that are moving horizontally or diagonally to them. However they usually will submit if you bring a flat palmed hand straight down from above. This enables you to make it a positive interaction rather than a confrontation.

Please if your rabbits is a bit aggressive, dont punish them they are very sensitive please do not hurt them and think they could learn like a dog would . That is so cruel and so mean 🙁 just treat them kind and soft and they will eventualy warm up and be friendly. they do this because they are afraid.

Good video. This is very similar to how you bond rabbits. Keeping rabbits in an x-pen or bathtub under close observation can help reduce fear, anxiety, and stress with other rabbits. Close observation is key so that fights or chasing can be broken up before they lead to injury or irreparable damage to the bond. Over time, with repeated sessions, rabbits will eventually learn to groom each other, share food, and be comfortable around one another.

😂😂nope. Sometimes its breeding. Inbred rabbits which is 85% of time if bought from a rabbitry can become aggressive just from blood ties. And just because your rabbit licks you doesn't mean it loves you, this is an aggressive behavior. What?! Yep, aggressive possessive dominance.

Not really, they are taking their time with trying to have the rabbit be use to them. Along with also not forcing the bun to like them, if he was he would be chasing the bun which would stress em out and cause em to be defensive or run
