This record is about Syd Barrett, one of the founders of the band. The band members witnessed the live day-to-day fall of Syd from musical genius to raving lunatic. Syd's musical control gave way to Roger Waters who took the band in a new direction leading to Dark Side and many other albums.

I remember the first time I heard this too. Your mood and emotions were almost the exact same as mine. LOL. Brought back so many great memories

I had the privilege of listening Pink Floyd since the early 1970's. And listening all their music til now... Love it. Everyone needs to have a listen to Pink Floyd.

TIME: This song was a life passing by from the time it starts with the heartbeat then kicking around wasting time, then the solo was that life passing by then the end of life, tolling of the iron bell and life ends and you meet your creator! Always need the lyrics if not familiar with Floyd tunes

19:45 Yeah you're right when you say she's in pain, she's perfectly portraying the stages of grief: denial, anger, bargaining, depression and finally acceptance. It's really a masterpiece. And she wasn't even told what to do, they asked her to do whatever she felt it goes with the music and she came out with this.

I grew up with this. Watching your reaction made me a bit teary-eyed because through you it took me back to the first time I ever heard it and my same feelings made me feel oh so young again, even if it's for a little while. I haven't been moved so in such a long long time.

Greetings Mary. Looked through your comments section, and didn't see any mention of what I'm going to tell you. Get the DVD The Wizard of OZ, start it and after the MGM lion roars twice, turn down the volume, start the Dark Side of The Moon CD. It will run 2 and 1/2 times to the length of the, The Wizard of OZ movie. You'll be amazed at how the scenes are in sync with the music. The song writer Sid Barrett, was prolific, or was watching The Wizard of Oz, when he wrote the songs? Good luck with your journey.
