+Trevor Luft Hi Trevor, The base of the pattern is a highly used fly on the rivers, the F Fly is a great Grayling Pattern. I use it in size 12,14,16 for Lakes and Smallwaters.... Cheers for watching..

Hi David, Its wax from the mini cheeses, Babybell. It remains soft but isn't as tacky as conventional soft wax. Its a great medium and also handy if you like Cheese 🤣

+Trevor Luft Just fish them in place of your Diawls or other Nymphs mate. An added bonus is, when fishing these, you can allow them to sit for a split second on the surface, always pick up a bonus fish with them. Washing Line, Straight Through.... also great as droppers between Blob & Booby

Hey Trevor, Took me a few "takes" but got there in the end. You will be surprised how long CDC, and None CDC patterns will float even while using flourocarbon. Most of my none CDC based patterns, Hoppers etc, ive pre treated in Liquid Mucilin. Usually get quite a few fish before having to fully dry these and dress with a powder floatant What I have found over the years of using fluoro, if you don't get interest in the first 15 or 20 secs, I lift of and fan cast, or cover a moving fish if I've clocked its direction of travel. I find the taper better for those short snappy casts where you are targeting a fish as it helps energy transfer/turnover.

@@CarlNixonFlyFishingFlyTying can you use a 3 turn water knot with grand max?

I do in the larger breaking strains, 9.5 and 7.5 and 6lb if I'm using it straight through for 2 or 3 fly set ups. Buzzers, Nymphs etc If I'm making a leader up like this one, I use a Blood Knot, a little fiddly first time you try but soon becomes second nature....worth a watch on animated knots website.
