Spectacular.. These two are templates for theater arts dancing..The music is dated but these theater arts moves work in any genre . They made incredibly hard lifts dips drops and turns look smooth as silk

Juliet Prowse was an amazing talent. She was a highly disciplined artist and she loved to perform. I was fortunate to play solo cello in a show with her at the Paramount Theatre in Seattle. She sang and danced and it was glorious watching her on stage. She owned it. We had a phenomenal pianist in the band, Peter Lederer, who was a Holocaust survivor and one of the most talented musicians I ever worked with. At the first rehearsal Peter played a stunning, improvised introduction for Juliet. She stopped dead in her tracks, walked to the edge of the stage and peered into the pit. She saw Peter and said admiringly, "Oh, it's you. Of course." She paid him a high compliment that day, apparently having worked with him previously. We worked hard during the rehearsal and Juliet was focused intensely on the work - always gracious with her fellow musicians. She was a real lady and devoted artist - a total pleasure to accompany. Of course, the audience loved her and gave her a standing ovation at the end.

So great to see this fabulous number with the sensational Augie & Margo! They recreated this routine in later years for Wilson Barrera & Margaret Burns who also danced it brilliantly and with great passion! And of course the great Szony here with Geta, always fantastic! RIP Margo

I marvel at the differences between this early Ed Sullivan performance of Meditation and the stripped down, ethereal one that Suzanne Farrell inspired. If you catch a recording of that performance, you will see the difference. No costumes, loose hair, no setting, and especially that awful introduction was dropped. These changes were all made by Balanchine himself when he was active. I wish there were a book that recorded the evolution of his major ballets, from silly costumes in a ballet I can't recall, to the simple leotard ballets of today.

I met Augie and Margo in Campione in Italy in 1974. We were staying in the same small hotel. We had a friend in common. Later the Spanish dance company I was with shared a bill with them at a club in Madrid. Lovely people. Wonderful performers. Sadly, I lost touch when I moved back to the US.
