Honestly, I wasn't even going to make this video, but we finally had a clear night with no rain and the the battery was dead. So, here we are, talking about all of the issues I've had with this 2023 Indian Challenger Dark Horse. If you're looking to buy an indian challenger and looking at REAL, HONEST reviews of these bikes, this is the review you need to watch. There is a ton of fluff out there but I'm going to be honest with you 100% and tell you NOT to buy this bike. This is an Honest and real owners indian challenger review. I'd love to talk about the good things about this motorcycle, but the bad things and they way they were handled just outweigh the good. I'd love to make a fun review talking about the indian challenger specs, but that's just not going to happen. Indian challenger battery dying? This is why. Looking for a indian challenger tune? Can't do that. Mid pipe or cat delete for the indian challenger. Don't do that. American motorcycle companies are struggling hard. And with this being my first ever american made motorcycle, I can see why. They are absolute trash and the service is even worse. With bikes that come from overseas, the level of service when it comes to warranty and everything else is just better. This motorcycle makes me not even want to ride anymore and that really sucks. This is the indian challenger issues that you will run into if you buy an indian. If you're going to buy one, but one pre 2023 as it seems they changed just enough to make it a terrible bike. Anyways, this is just my experience with this motorcycle. Make your own decision or opinion on the bike before you buy it. This is just my warning to anyone who is looking to purchase one. It's been a terrible experience and I regretted my decision within the first 30 days of purchase solely based on the issues I've had and the way it was (or wasn't) handled.

#darkhorse #indianchallenger #indianmotorcycles Photo | Video | Drone Seth-Michael.com Ok guys, so my Indian Challenger is back! And I learned quite a bit. Apparently a lot of cruiser or bagger style of motorcycles tend to have a battery draining issue. Doesn't matter if it's a harley or indian or whatever. If it has a key fob, the same issues can come up. Which now makes me wonder why sport bi...

#indianmotocycle #indianchallenger #bagger So as many of you know, I recently traded my 2021 BMW S1000rr M package in for a 2023 Indian Challenger Dark Horse. The Challenger Dark Horse comes with a pretty solid spec sheet. 122hp, 128 ft lbs of torque, 6 gallon fuel tank and much more. But before I even hit the legendary 1901 miles, this motorcycle is already giving me issues. At the moment the ...

#sellingbikes #s1000rr #mpackage The thought of having a garage full of motorcycles sounds nice, but is it all that great? Sure, it might be great if you have time to actually ride them, but for me, I just don't have that kind of time. Therefor it was time to switch it up a bit. That means liquidating the motorcycles. I had everything from a sport cruiser the honda magna 750, 2 honda groms and ...

I know im late, but is there a link to the rear cowl cover?
Build a relationship with your service department. I don’t have that issue at all.
2021 Challenger still running strong! Sorry for your issues.
When is the next run just got my zx10 ready to ride again
I have a 97 and I have no idea why I don’t like it
…
I love watching motorcyclist driving around talking to themselves.
The panigale is much better in handling and rides better.
Sounds like a loose ground or bad contact on an engine plug. The extra plug hole is for driving lights.
Is it good for handling? How does it enter the turns, how does it shift from one side to the other?I've heard that it's heavy and not nearly as maneuverable, is that true?
Is 42,000 miles on a v4, 98 bike like that to many miles?!
Hi seth, interesting, I've only just picked up on you utube channel, I've still got my bmw k67 s1000rr sport - august 2021 hockinhiem metallic silver, it's really interesting that you bring this fault up.. I had this exact fault/symptoms with my bike early on in 2024 just after leaving the BP services in the uk.. literally several minutes pulling upto a junction.. the bike just stalled on me.. took me 4 or 5 attempts to get her started again, not knowing the problem a took it to the nearest motorcycle garage.. they hooked her up to the machines and checked the usual battery voltages /coil/rectifier, could not fault her or pick up any codes etc.. never had anymore problems since tbh..touching wood 🪵 as one does, I've done upto now little of 8.6k mls since new.. though seeing you video and hearing your faults this I will certainly be keeping in mind about the 4 coil packs and throttle ensembly unit on the bars.. thanks again Tony
So you bad mouth a good bike and come to find out it was an issue you created with your key fob being to close draining your battery.I have 2023 Challenger going on two years this January and I love it. Perfect bike😊
Oldest story in the world, "they all do that ". Are you saying that modern Indians have a built in modem that continuously exchanges data with the "home office" to monitor and update the installed software and run your battery down?
In my opinion based on my Indian bikes they are all show and no go. Never again.
I have two Indians, a Scout and Vintage. Also have had many Hondas and still have a Honda. Whats the differance? More major issues on both Indians and just the same feelining if I go for a ride, will I get home or be left on the side of the highway. The recalls kept the bikes in the shop for many weeks. All of the Hondas were boring by comparison, just had to ride them all over Europe, Canada and the US. Some of them I did over a hundred thousand miles on them. The 1100 wing went from Canada to South America and back. In every case it was change the oil, plugs, air filter and tires. No recalls no issues. We all deserve better.
I still got my 96 Honda magna 750 and probably won’t let it go
I bought the same bike, had a couple of similar issues. A new battery fixed it all. If you bike was like mine and it had been sitting on the show room floor that factory battery just won't hold a charge and it's probably been started over and over at the dealer without ever riding anywhere.
Found a 86 bobber for my first and I got it for a steal, took it around the area a few times last night and did some parking lot exercises, Surprisingly went well for my first ride "Besides stalling when moving from a stop here and there" even though it was only like that same 4 blocks I circled 7 times lol
Ouch! Sorry you had all these issues. I've been riding long time, bought a 2020 Road King special last year. I looked at Indian. Really like the look, the tech, the power but nearest dealer to me was 50 miles. The Harley dealer 5 miles. Honestly, love the RKS. i'm in Cali so I ride year round. Its actually my commuter, splitting lanes 95% of the time on it. Glad I ran into your channel. I was really interested in the challenger but heck no! No way I can afford to be w/o the bike. Or have to put it on a charger. That's insane. What a bummer experience. Good content man, hope you find a good bike that fits you and that you'll be happy with.
I live in Canada and I'd like to premiss this with that I've had 4 Indian branded bikes over the years I now have a 2022 "Jack Daniels"' Indian Challenger Dark Horse it's the CVO of the Indian brand great looking bike but it's been in the shop for warranty issues because of throwing codes 19 times before it was finally fixed , they thought, by changing the stater, battery and another electronic component, not the ECU. I just completed the three flags endurance ride in early this September (6000 kilometers)with the JD and on the way back from Tijuana it started displaying codes again #1 misfire and when this mis fire code comes up it stops one of the cylinders from firing until you can pull over stop the engine then start it up again which clears the code then you can ride until it happens again. I describe it as driving a truck load of dynamite because you never know when it will go off especially if you're passing another vehicle and you lose that 1 cylinder, not good. Luckily I bought the extended warranty once the 2 year MF warranty ran out. In 2020 the first year of the Challenger I took one out for a full weekend test drive I got 40 miles away from the dealer and it started throwing #1 mis fire codes and being this was all foreign to me seeing these codes I limp back to the dealer on 1 cylinder and they cleared all the codes and told me everything was fine. I live about 200 miles away from the dealer and everything was good until I started driving it locally and it started throwing codes again so I got so pissed off with it I put on my bike trailer and took it back to them and told them it was a piece of S--t and didn't want anything to do with it. Two years later thinking Polaris had worked all the electrical gremlins out of the Challenger I bought the best of the best for the Indian brand the JD #19 out of 107 built and hear we are today back in the dealers shop. I'm 75 and I've had all sorts of bikes over my 59 years of riding from Japanese , European, Harleys, Victories and now Indian and none of those have left me stranded or more frustrated than this Challenger has. P.S. after it gets repaired for the 20th time I'm putting it for sale and going back to a "V" twin.
I had a 2010 Vulcan Nomad that set on the street under a cover no garage and I never had to keep it on a battery tender. Sometimes I would not ride it for a month or longer when it was snowing and icy. In 5 years of ownership I never put it on a tender and never had a dead battery... Not so sure about these new bikes...
My 23 Challenger rocks. 10K+ miles.
Put the standard pipes back on. The battery iissue has had a recall for software update. Once you do that i think you will ride the bike every day and love it.
Great video! You answered questions that a "master tech" wouldn't at an unscrupulous dealership here in Florida! I wondered why the "sales manager" demanded an "unlimited" battery warranty for $1000! Not to mention a $2,500 charge to build the bike-meaning set up out the crate! Glad i didn't buy their BS! Great to see a vlogger so honest and not sucked into trying to be a brand ambassador. Thank you again, for reassuring me that i made the right choice not to buy this crap
I had a 2022 Challenger that had several ride command issues. The dealer ended up buying it back from me. I now have a 2023 Pursuit. I have had ZERO issues with that bike in the 21,000mi I have on it so far. They came out with a battery fix that Indian now sent to all the dealers. Problem solved. By the way, you absolutely can not compare a new bike with all the tech to a 1998 whatever brand bike. I used to have a 2021 GoldWing that was exactly like the Challenger in that it needed to be plugged in to a tender. I hear your complaints but there are now tunes out there from RVS, Lloydz and 210 Speedlabs. My Indian Pursuit is absolutely amazing.

Thanks for posting fellow floridian and way better youtuber than us! We were thinking about trading in my wife's Harley Low Rider ST on a Challenger! Now we are not and we both subscribed to you! Great video!
If you modify the exhaust wouldn't that void your warranty ? Especially when it's a EPA certified exhaust system . Plus the bike was designed to run with the catalytic converter . You might have to re-map the computer . I have a BMW and I just left it alone. 😊
Sounds like the electricals suck that they are using . Hopefully you can get enough riding time out of the bike before you have other issues . I remember waiting a few years so the manufacturers get all the bugs worked out . No they fix them after they take your hard earned cash . Good luck with your new bike .
that is HORSESHIT i have left bikes to sit for months and they may have a slow start but they run and charge the battery right back up, keep it on a trickle charger? wtf and what if i'm on vacation? i gotta beg the hotel owners to use their outside plugs so i can plug my bike in? foh indian is wild for that
Damn and I thought my 22 Harley Davidson had a lot of issues That’s scary since I’m considering dropping a ton of money on a new pursuit Hope thing work out for ya brotha 🤞🏼🤞🏼
Youd be surprised how long a 6x patched tire will last on a bike
Alot of issues can be avoided with a brand new bike by property breaking in the bike.
I have a 2022 Indian Scout Bobber Twenty. The first year I had it - it spent six months in the shop. Half of its life in the shop. The "advisors" they have in the service department try very hard to convince you it's your fault. Including telling me an Indian motorcycle has to always remain perfectly upright - never leaned in a curve or put on its own freakin kickstand! How in the hell are you supposed to ride a bike that can't lean in a curve? How do you take it somewhere you don't have a stand to keep it perfectly upright? These are questions neither the advisor nor the warranty manager would answer only repeat that they must stay upright and the warranty manager threw out there they can't fix a bad rider... And they told me the same thing "Indian says it's in spec". So, Indian's spec is that you ride for ten minutes and the bike turns off and won't restart? Before it even has 500 miles on it? No, no one would think these are sane arguments! Months of back and forth and back and forth, more crap attempts at excuses, them "misplacing" my bike and being unable to locate it whenever I would call for updates (as like you they would never call me, I had to call them), and so much more aggravation. I had to go into the dealership showroom screaming to get them to do anything. Now suddenly it's a full tear down. Now they discover a bad fuel pump, bad fuel sender, and a myriad of other major mechanical issues . On a new damn bike. They left it outside for an extended period in Florida where it rains daily in the summer. Odometer got flooded so it had to be replaced. Replacement is falling apart now. Various paint chips and scuffs. ABS system was disabled and not repaired. Which is annoying but I will eventually fix myself. On the ISB groups and forums I've come to find having major issues with a new bike is a common occurrence for Indian. Which is sad given the price we pay to own these machines. Indian has definitely soured me on the brand. My ISB is coming up on 10k miles, needs new tires, and I'm very reticent to take it to Indian for that service. I just don't have any trust for them at all anymore.
Sorry you have been having problems. My 2023 Chieftain has never given me any problems. I've been leaving all my bikes on trickle chargers for more than 10 years never had any issues whatsoever. Even my 2024 Africa Twin with a Lithium ion battery is on a charger. Buy a good quality charger with a very low flow rate and stick it on a GFCI and its no more a risk than your TV
We get it, you bought one with a few issues, you like Hondas, and you love the hits you get from this negative review. 40k on mine, no major issues and no tender unless it's winter. Most fun and comfortable bike I've ever owned. Rode a Goldwing, great bike, but it's boring.
Just run your youtube channel showing the lemon you have.
Sorry for your frustration. As for the plugging in the bike with the heavy electronics on this thing it is a must. There is a parasitic draw. A service bulletin was issued for software update. Always a battery maintainer. I use a Honda Optimate3 and have since 2015. No issues. As for the data, this is used for the Indian Motorcycle RC command app where you can see your rides your vehicle health and other information. There are also some pretty good Facebook pages that I belong to. They are very helpful with information. One of their chief complaints has always been with the 2023 is that there is no tune yet. But I have read that Llodz is trying to get around that. This is why I have never strayed far from just installing slip-ons. Not a performance guy. Good Luck!
Had one but never felt comfortable the position was all wrong
Replaced the wiring harness? Did i hear that right? On a brand new bike!
Any specific place where motorcycles gather in the bay area? Will visit Florida in january and plan to be in Tampa a few days.
I have a 23 challenger that have had no issue like your runs and rides great and sits at time for days between rides and zero battery issues really sorry you are having that kind of issues
I’ve owned mine since 2007and love it as well. At its weight and power level I do t know if I would promote as a first bike. That depends on the size and weight of the rider and there ability to learn to ride quickly. I’m 76 and have ridden since late fifties and have ridden many motorcycles. I also have a CTX1300A . I just love the V4s. I’m too old for sport bikes . The Magna has super low speed handling so that is good for a new rider. I’ve had mine on the Dragon twice and loved it. I’ve made it my own with new paint, saddle, bags, polished the wheels and forks. Installed the Dave Dodge jet kit in the carbs, progressive fork springs and rear shocks. Also a stainless steel brake hose as well. It now has 54,000 miles on it and purrs like a kitten. I do my own work. Also make sure you check the secondary air filter behind the left chrome faux air filter cover. It can crumble and allow parts of the filter to be sucked up into the carbs. Great video. I love the sound the V4 makes.
Can i use it on my 22 s1000r naked?
I like all kinds of bikes, but Japanese bikes are made the best. No, they don't do everything the best but reliability hands down nothing can touch them. Not to mention not overpriced!
Show their ass!: Disconnect the battery cable everytime you get home.
I have a 2010 Cross Country that I bought in 2015. I still love this bike but who doesn't want a better bike😂 I've been on the fence about trading it in on a Challenger since they came out. I guess I will keep waiting to see if Polaris can work out these gremlins first.
Indian has a fix for the battery drain, you need to go to dealership and they will flash the fix. Challenger Recall - Service Bulletin I-24-08 The reason for this notice: Indian Motorcycle has determined that your model year 2020-2024 Challenger, 2022-2024 Pursuit, or 2024 Chief motorcycle(s) may encounter a scenario in which the Vehicle Control Module (VCM) or Wireless Control Module (WCM) may not fully power off, resulting in unnecessary current draw from the battery. This may lead to decreased battery performance.
You are correct! That bulletin was released a week after I uploaded this video. The bike has had the software updated and now just keeping an eye on it to see if it truly made a difference. Will be updating soon!
@@SethMichael Hi Seth. Considering a new Pursuit. You experience is certainly influencing my decision. What has been the outcome of Service Bulletin I-24-08 on your battery?
@@stevewalters6403 no issues at with battery drain after the new flash was put on my bike. had it done a couple weeks ago at my dealership, no cost to me, and all is good.
Will not be buying one now .thanks for information
