"The first way Counting Crows ever sounded, it was me and Dave in bars and coffee houses playing open mics, doing this song this way. The song begins with a guy walking out the front door of his house, and leaving behind this woman . But the more he begins to leave people behind in his life, the more he feels like he's leaving himself behind as well. The less and less substantial he feels like ...

    Yes, this is cool. Even very cool. But the one that got the more chiseled corporate produced treatment is still probably more a realization of the depth of the song. Nice to have both though.

    Wow, why is this SO good? I've always been soft for the Crows, wouldn't call myself a big fan or anything, but I've always appreciated Adam's songwriting and wished he just made more rock oriented music, and this is basically exactly what I'm talking about. This is like the Cranberries meets the Crows with some R.E.M. sprinkled in and it's awesome. And so is that bass.

    Crazy good. It’s not as polished as the August and Everything After version but it’s got some gusto that the single lacks. The single hits harder emotionally though.

    This is still my favorite version of this song. It better not ever be removed from UA-cam. I have to come and listen to this version on repeat after I hear the "counting crows" one every single time.

    The Counting Crows version of this song made such a huge impression on me, I’ve adored that band ever since I heard Mr Jones then Round here within a few weeks of each other. It’s great to hear this earlier incarnation. All the passion. Extraordinary talent and vision.

    I wonder if in a parrelel dimension. The Himilayans got signed instead of CC. What future songs Adam still would of written that we know as CC songs. Bit what twist would they have being played by this band. I want to hear what Anna,Begins or Perfect Blue Buildings would have sounded like Himilyan style.

    • @rpgeek22
      @rpgeek22 6 років тому

      Schardt Cinematic Productions I think that Marty Jones would still be in the band if he was then Mr. Jones may not have been written or would be wrote differently due to the person it's about being in the band. The album would be a different name and some songs like raining in Baltimore wouldn't be in because those songs don't match the play style of the Himalayans. A song like rain king might sound better but most wouldn't be the same or exist at all. Overall I don't think the Himalayans would do as well because they would miss that emotional connection cc has because the instruments used and tone

      RPGeek i agree. Since not every song was written by Adam. The coloboration on some songs might have turned out diffrently. Plus i wonder if Adam my ever do anymore songs from this album with CC just for the fun of it. But change it like they did Round Here. The tone is a lot different with this band. I agree.

      Nags Dead Films Some songs like Doris day from sordid humor he uses lyrics from. In murder of one he mixed it and I believe he did round here mixed with private archipelago both of those are from the band sordid humor.

    If it wasn't for Adam putting this CD together and selling quite a few years ago. We never would have Gorton to hear these songs. I bought this CD over 6 years ago maybe even longer. It was when it first got released.

      Isn't it that you stumble upon another version of this song and you fall in love yet again? It's the alternations, the asides Adam always includes. They give this song multiple dimensions. So deep I cannot even imagine. And yet so familiar with every word. Round here I can't see nothing.

      Actually, I'm not surprised the Counting Crows version is the one that won out. The Himalayans version is very 80's. It's not surprising that it didn't stand out in 1990. Not saying it's not a good song. It is. It just wouldn't have stood out.

    • @Alex_Off-Beat
      @Alex_Off-Beat 3 роки тому

      This version is great but the Counting Crows version just has so much more emotional depth than this one. This version just sounds angry and angsty to the point where it clouds out all the myriad of other feelings the lyrics invoke
