My Nan’s cousin worked with Ruth in the club, her Mum sometimes looked after Ruth’s two children. Ive grown up hearing stories, so sad the whole situation and what it did to her two children too.

Warning! This version lacks several crucial scenes that appear in the original cut.
It doesn't show why Ruth Ellis pursued David Blakely on the night of the shooting. Nor does it include Desmond Cussen giving Ellis his gun and driving her to the Magdala. And it omits the final prison scenes, in which Miranda Richardson narrates the letter Ellis wrote to Blakely's mother ("Please excuse my writing, but the pen is shocking").
Without these scenes, the finale is horribly and ineptly rushed, and gives the impression that Cussen was completely without blame for the murder.
I was grateful to see *most* of the film again for free, but the ending is so seriously botched I'd urge anyone who hasn't already seen it to seek out the full-length version.
