Man, they are so awesome Digibirder! This song was so emotional! I'm going to buy the live Blu Ray as soon as possible. Btw, are you familiar with Ayreon? Former Marillion singer Fish has done a fair bit of work with him. Thank you so much for introducing Danny and I to this awesome band, and for your continuing support! ❤️🤝
Sorry, I'm just getting back to you, brother. I have no idea why it would not let you comment. I know if there is a link attached where I have to look at it before IOK brother
@@DannyLeeOGT I'm commenting now Danny. I'll try to not be too wordy. That's my problem. After this song you should listen to "Made Again", the song after this one.Its a beautiful uplifting song 💯!
First off, I am jealous. I would love to see Marillion live! That is really amazing about Steve. I have no idea how he consistently pulls that off. It just seems so exhausting. Thank you very much for watching! 🤘👍
@@oglschmitt Marillion does a Marilliion Weekend in Montréal. three concerts in a row! The next one that might be in 2025, might be the last one since they're not getting any younger. They have really high standards, so they will know when to hang it up with class and style.
Wow three concerts 3 days that would be amazing. I bet it's a very surreal and spiritual experience to be a Marillion concert. A I was going to take this reaction down but I do not have all of the raw reactions left but I can promise you all the reactions are going to be much better from now on we have finally figured out the system. Thank everyone for your patience
Yes this man definitely using the feels ❤️ I absolutely loved how Steve stays in the part. He seems to actually be living what he sings about, at the very least vicariously ✌️ thank you so much Jennifer 4 branching out and trying something new ❤️ I know as an obsessive fan of the band named that four-letter word how hard that can be sometimes
@@DannyLeeOGT I have read on the internet (therefore, it must be true 😀) that Hogarth went into seclusion after the Brave tour for about six months. He does, indeed, take on the persona of the emotionally devasted girl while performing the songs live, and he is visibly drained from the effort. The tour took everything out of him. You can see some of the theatrics he presents earlier on the "Brave Live 2013" DVD. I saw this in person in Montreal in 2013. At the end of "The Great Escape" the crowed erupted in wild applause. It was the loudest sound I've ever experienced in my long life, and the ovation lasted for ten or fifteen minutes.
There was a version of "The Great Escape" from the BTV web site that was incredible. It's been taken down due to BTV having a copyright on it, or so I assume. The big difference was the presence of a large backdrop immediately behind the stage, lit by rear projection, which displayed video created to augment the song. Maybe it was part of the low budget "Brave" movie, which I've never bothered to watch due to generally poor reviews. But at key moments it shows you a little girl, swinging back and forth on a swing, looking as cute as can be with long curly hair and a lovely white pinafore dress, laughing and giggling. Maybe you would have to have raised a daughter from birth to fully understand the overwhelming wave of emotion that sweeps over you when you see that video at a time in the song where that little girl, now fully grown, has had so much pain in her life that she had chosen to throw herself over a high-suspension bridge railing to her death than endure one more day of pain. Watching it made me weep uncontrollably, every time. My little girl was just as cute, and just as happy, and loved swings. Cancer killed her in 2019 after a 14 year fight filled with chemo and radiation pain. That is probably why that version affected me so profoundly, but Hogarth's delivery surely also had something to do with it.
We did the song I'm not sure what venue it was from. I would have to go back and check. I beg you so much for your comments and your engagement. It is very much appreciated honestly.
Thanks for the reaction Danny and OGL. I'm so glad you're enjoying Marillion!

@@oglschmitt Yes OGL, I have seen Fish with Ayreon. Mark Kelly, the keyboard player for Marillion has also played with Ayreon.

One of the greatest tracks ever written. Just a masterclass of emotion.
I love the lyrics, emotion and connection that is personal but familiar
I've been to Marilloon weekends. Three concerts over three nights. Howgarth is emotional from start to finish.
