You don't have to jump do that. The key unlocks the trunk. If you look right above the license plate but under the trunk is a key hole. Insert the key and turn completely left then pull the trunk trigger located in the same spot. Wallah.

My trunk won’t open at all, unless I use the key. The car turned on. Not sure why all of a sudden it won’t open. We did have to jumpstart it. I already knew where the battery was. Why is the trunk not opening all of a sudden? Not even manually?
I tried to do this but for some reason, it feels like I short circuited something. Now no power at all. I think a put the screwdriver in the wrong spot or something instead of that bolt. What should I try next? Do you think I blew the pryo-fuse? Thank for your help brother!
I ended up using that small key inside the fob to open the trunk. Thanks for all your advice btw! This is like solving an Indiana Jones mystery to me! Lol

I have a much better way to open the trunk when battery dead!! Take the key fob, move black thing on top to unlock secret key Pull key from inside fob Kneel down at trunk Look under the edge near left edge of license plate There is a chrome plate and keyhole! Insert with key handle toward you, rotate then pull handle just to the right. Owners see this chrome circle every time they use trunk but dont realize its a real key, since the car dossnt appear to have one. Same key opens or locks driver door. Make sure when retuning key into fob that it locks Pull a few times

which bolt is negative and which one is positive
Negative goes to chassis, the one outside the box. If you look close in the box under the terminal you will see the red cable.

I challenge you to use a battery jump clip on the rear post. Impossible. You probably need tiny alligator clips. No good.

Why not just use the metal key from the key fob to open the trunk to skip all those steps?

Yes if that cable is attached Directly to the battery also
