Bugger my hat, what a find. Well done, Cheeseford. The important part is to watch the backing band-if they're in bits, the performer is spot on. These blokes keep a straight face for money.

Milligan could play the spoons just for the craic. Jazz trumpeter, pianist, guitarist, comb-and-paper; his like cannot be found anywhere in the world today.

Actually having played trumpet myself I really hated my thin European lips and envied my African-American jazz trumpet heroes and Milligan always exaggerated for effect. No-one was safe from his wit and humour is impossible if everyone is safe from this. Great to hear him play like this. So much offense is taken by groups entirely detached from the people supposedly offended.

He was amazing, full of creative energy. A complete nightmare as well to live with I'd imagine. A lot of his humour was poking fun at basic absurdities, often racially based. That was acceptable in those days. His Dad was Irish and he took the piss out of the Irish. The goons were like people celebrating the escape from world war and their targets were the elements they'd experienced such as the foreigners and the military and authorities and such.
