Huepar 902CG laser level unboxing

  • Not exactly a review but me and Brady using the level for the first time, making some amateurish mistakes, and in the process showing you most of the features and how it works!
    It works very well! I first saw this level being used by a Polish builder, it looked well used and knocked about, but was clearly tough and well built and still working fantastically well. The bright green line was far clearer to me than the red line of my cheap entry level Stabila, and the 360 degree horizontal and vertical lasers could clearly open up a range of possibilities and make certain jobs far easier.
    It is one of those tools I will undoubtedly soon wonder how I lived without, and why it took me so long to get!

    Its been my experience that the target is for suspended ceilings. You use it to level the metal grid. Attach your laser to the wall and use target to level it. My laser clamps to the track so no screws in the wall.

    Use a quick clamp to clamp a panel saw to a door and then the magnet with grip onto the panel saw. Not in contact with the floor and no fixings to tidy up afterwards.

      Good idea.Perhaps even better would be to clamp a steel rule to the door so you don't damage the door and can make your adjustments quickly and precisely IF you need to set the line at a particular height.

      you will learn a few tricks as you use them more. i have tripods on wooden floors , they are too springy . i use on of those exandable poles that you jack up like a silicone gun but put it in a corner out of the way to minamise any flex in the floor hanging a hand saw from any picture hanging points works good too but it a bit limiting. last time i did that i brought a flexible steel roll up straight edge and hung that on a nail so i had 6 feet to play with height wise. clamping a hand saw to a window works well too sometimes , a clamp is great to clamp onto a window board overhang the magnet will hold on the bar of the f clamp

      Sure hope this helps. www.amazon.co.uk/Mounting-Ceiling-Support-Bracket-Adapter/dp/B07DRHZL55. As you’ll find out height is completely adjustable as the pole comes in several screw together parts, also you aren’t restricted to using the tripod element which can take up floor space, as the assembled pole has protective rubber feet on both ends so can be fitted floor to ceiling as long as the maximum height isn’t exceeded. It has a mounting table for your level that moves freely up and down the pole to the desired height which is then secured in place with a cam like lever, I’ve found this to be the weakest element of the design but could probably be improved with a little fettling.

    I recently bought a Bosch laser and returned it because you can literally not find the line beyond 3m distance in daylight.

    • @Alastair_Freebird
      @Alastair_Freebird  3 роки тому +1

      In daylight I think these would be no better. However this is why you can get a range extender, it’s a device that you hold up and it detects the line when on pulse setting and gives you a reference point.

    • @Alastair_Freebird
      @Alastair_Freebird  4 роки тому +3

      Hi Shane I would still recommend it just as much as before, I still find it very good. Some people have said the laser line is too fat; I don't honestly know how that compares to more expensive brands but for me it's never been a problem as you can just reference off the top or bottom of the line, and it definitely gives me more accuracy than traditional spirit levels. I don't know what you really benefit by paying more for other brands, this seems to do all I need and the build quality is solid, and the batteries are lasting ok

      Depending on the range of required datum points, e.g. floor and ceiling or just worktop height,I'd use a tape measure or a square-adjustable or roofing type- with a scrap of masking tape on it to avoid errors from misreading.By looking at the reading you get,you can easily tell whether your 'target' is plumb or not-tilt it back and forth until you get the maximum or minimum reading,which guarantees that your 'target' is square to the plane of the laser line.
      If you are going to use a block it has to be clearly labelled 'this way up' to avoid expensive mistakes.

      Irvin Wittmeier I wonder though, how much time till you make the saving? Let’s say you give it regular usage and need to change batteries every month (I don’t know yet how long they last, perhaps that’s optimistic but how long do you really need to use it for?). You can get 4 AA batteries for £2. That’s £24 in a year. Equivalent branded lasers seem to be at least £100 extra so that’s 4 years til break even. Anyway, you could just buy rechargeable AA batteries (a bit more of a faff though).

    Ok, I looked at a number of levels cheap and expensive and decided to stay away from one for the time being even though I'm a big gadget fan myself.
    The main reason being they're not as accurate as we may think - Skill Builder did an episode on it.
    Another reason is price. The one robust and accurate enough for my needs costs far too much just now.
    Finally, battery life is generally poor and Makita don't do an 18v version which is ridiculous.
    One minor disadvantage is quick and efficient mounting which none of the manufacturers seems to have come up with a real good solution for.
    Not so long ago all chop saw makes had laser versions which we all know now is just a waste of time.
    So, I really appreciate your review as I did sincerely consider this manufacturer myself.
    Have lots of fun with your new toy guys!

    I bought it , returned it and now they aren't meeting their commitment to credit me. Don't trust this company. Thought you should know what is behind your marketing .

      Sorry to hear this John. And to clarify, I am not marketing here, I bought this level and have had no contact with Huepar. I subsequently got sent models to review by different companies.

      Too limited. I got a Bessey floor to ceiling prop instead, works better for quick free positioning with the magnet bracket

      667mfleen it’s the first one of this sort that I’ve used. Seems good to me, can you tell me what’s better about the more expensive ones, is it the thickness of the line?

      ricardo rendon you mean is it bright enough? I haven’t really tried it for that, did turn it on outside once, it’s certainly brighter than other cheap ones I’ve seen but I expect you can get better

      You wanna spend your hard working money for DeFault or Milfuckee than right. I have a ton of 12v bosch tools in a systainer, there's a bosch laser that works with this 12v line, it would be perfect for me but fuck them, it's super pricey. Not to mention all the money I spend on fe$tool and maf€ll for the little usage. Some tool makers are making apple similar margin.

      Randy Marshall it’s surprising how many people do! And for fellow newbies it gives them advance warning of the things they may need to figure out, without having to commit to purchase it themselves. Doing a dedicated review video is not something I always have time for so I just record as I do things. Something is better than nothing.
