The entire 2nd verse is a masterpiece, both in terms of mechanics and being able to condense such a deep and brutal history into just one section of a song while retaining the impact and weight of that history. It's just crazy stuff, Lupe is one of the all time greats
@@newacc4 because America is destroyed and the notion of nations no longer exists so what is currently Africa/Europe currently travel east and dig a bit into current day Washington in centuries from now.
as a native who just found this, I fckin love this!!!! lupe even came to our Rez a few years ago. The one he mentions in a lot of tweets & in a few songs. Love it & him.
This and beautiful lasers are my 2 favorite songs by Lupe his message in both songs are so deep and makes me think about what we have done to this world and what we will do in the future.
Sousabird if you want some song suggestions, Hopsin's ill mind 5 and ill mind 7 are good, Mysonne has songs that respond to both of those by Hopsin, and NoBigDyl has a song called Indie.
This song is so amazing. I should show it to my history class who are so wrapped up in electronics and what they are going to do when they get older and who broke up with who. They need to learn about how this idiotic inhumane society they live in was created
Actually, the 3rd verse sounds like a post-apocalyptic scenario where archeologists are discovering the remains of the US and hypothesizing (incorrectly) how the society was.
its crazy how kendrick and j Cole get all these praise don't get me wrong I'm fan of both big fan at that however its sad how Lupe don't get praise and in my opinion you can argue Lupe being more articular than j Cole or kendrick but its all opinions and feelings as fans but we all know Lupe is on same level as them or better but since they larger fan bases fanboys will come out the woods, again I'm a fan of all but its crazy how Lupe don't get mention to me that's crazy and very very sad
It’s the third verse for me… it’s very sad to think that one day our ruins will be found and we will be thought of as much better and civil than we ever were. The biggest facade ever discovered… the greed of this nation has overtaken the needs of the nation.
in the first verse ithink hes talking about the incoming europeans, christopher columbus and his fleet, to america. How the Europeans invaded the land of the native american, and ultimately killed them until they dissappeared. Check this out for more info on the song dude, rap.genius.com/Lupe-fiasco-unforgivable-youth-lyrics
If you are a real Lupe fan then you would know that every one of his songs have a different meaning behind them. This is my favorite song from the Album though
Students should be made to memorize this whole song in school. Amazing stuff. However, anything that exposes how evil deeds was used to build this empire, would be met with backlash from Republicans.
When im board i listen to music on my DSi XL and i have this whole album on it and i used to skip through this song until one day i fell asleep and i heard this song and i was like wat the heck is this song called i kinda like this song then i started jammin to this song lol
This album is how Lupe would tell the story of America, his history and the whole phenomenon behind it in his own way, so don't be surprised if you hear the "same" things, because it is the theme of the album, this is called a concept. And don't tell me that you heard the "same things" in F&L or in The Cool.
Shut the hell up. You went through the same shit everyone else in your generation did. Being black doesn't mean you are somehow more affected by atrocities of the past than anyone else. Also this song barely even mentions black people. The native Americans mostly are the focus of the first and second verses.
Savion Holmes TheKinkyTwinkie Both of you guys have a point, but to be honest if feeling sorrow from previous events didn't occur we wouldn't know the struggle the human race has been through to achieve what it has today, its important to reflect on the past to appreciate how far we have come as a whole, I think it's becoming very personal to you both as you are mentioning you penis length but on the whole it is positive to reflect on the past no matter what race you are or what generation you are, if everyone was as you would want them to be Lupe Fiasco wouldn't have written this song, but he (like I) believe it is important to recall history, in this case the "unforgivable youth" of America.
1st Verse - Eradication of the Native Americans, 2nd Verse - Slavery and forced labor, 3rd Verse - Elitists and how civilised they are. This is Rap at its pinicle best. Eyes Open - Muslim blood runs through Wasalu's veins.
my favorite part is how can land be own by another man to me he is the best rapper that's living right now at church I had to tell this one guy about Lupe cuz he is the truth
I like the last verse about the future looking back at America and what one would assume based on the evidence left. what we see right now is not what we are getting.
It's strange how sometimes Lupe puts out pop trash (Show Goes On, Next To It), and then can somehow can put out music like *this* (Streets on Fire, Atomic Misphilosophies, Hurt Me Soul). This song spans the entirety of past, present, and future in it's narrative. Just DAMN. Only other rappers I can think that can get *this* deep are Tonedeff (Holograms Remix, Spiral) Greydon Square. (Galaxy Rise) All my top 3 favorite rappers in no particular order.
Those songs are used to sell the albums they appear on, thus hopefully enticing the listener to listen to the rest of it. It's the most common practice in music there is.
The only reasons he has those songs is because he was forced to produce a record by atlantic records. He was, for lack of better words, forced into a record by them and then he couldn't produce what he wanted to.
no iv listened to alot of Lupe and i dnt listen to Rick Ross its just his songs like this start to sound the same. Others who make music like this make it more interesting. Just cos im gettin bored doesnt mean i listen to Ross or Soulja boy and the people that do arent any dif too u thats just what they like so why dont u just worry about u ok.
third part is actually about what the future civilizations think about us when they dig up our bones and ruins. plus what does the fact that he is a muslim has to do with this?
As much as I love this song, I find it hard to believe that archeologists tens, hundreds or even thousands of years from now would not know about the concept of a republic or democracy and mistake it for a religion. We've known about them as a form of governance for literally thousands of years. Just saying.
It could be more than thousands years it could be 100,000 yrs but idk if the white house would be recognizable by then so you have a point 😂 Great Song Though.
Sylver Nights The lyrics were definitely referring to politics and such. Especially when they assume that there was no poverty, starvation, or war due to appearance of our country. We have the necessary resources to use entirely clean energy, feed everyone in America, make sure everyone lives without having to worry about where your next meal is coming from out hire you'll afford college and we fight all of our wars on foreign soil. All of these practices of not helping people stem from political bulwarks. On the other hand, there aren't really that many different forms of government out there. Monarchy's (absolute, constitutional, mixed), oligarchy's, republics, democracies, communism, socialism, fiefdoms, dictatorships. That's about it. And a lot of them are mixed in some capacity. Unless there is some form of political revolution, I doubt we'll see anymore than those. But it is possible.
I love how everyone be biggen up the song and America is still the same.......... Listen to what the man is saying to you............ Jeeze man .......... groupies stil

That second verse. Just WOW!

When he said "this White House" the first time I heard the song, I got chills.

Lupe deserves my money, it's like I'm buying a newspaper from one of the few outlets left purveying the truth...
This and beautiful lasers are my 2 favorite songs by Lupe his message in both songs are so deep and makes me think about what we have done to this world and what we will do in the future.
Wow. Finally someone who doesn't put the damn lyrics 14 seconds on after the verse is finished
I like Lupe Fiasco music, I've been listening to him for years!!!
one of those songs where you don't where Lupe is taking it until the last lyrics.....Just simply ghostly and amazing!
Lupe Fiasco is a beast ,this song is deep...man this is the first album i'm gonna purchase ,he has really touched me ,,I feel you man..
Normally I find rap music is full of really shallow, vapid and unimportant lyricism.
Mr. Lupe Fiasco is definitely great at his job.
Sousabird you might like Hopsin, NoBigDyl, and Mysonne.
MrGnarman I'll check them out, thanks
Sousabird if you want some song suggestions, Hopsin's ill mind 5 and ill mind 7 are good, Mysonne has songs that respond to both of those by Hopsin, and NoBigDyl has a song called Indie.
***** that's actually a dope line metaphorically. The more you shun me the more I grow and as I grow the more uncontrollable I become
