Just founded your site. And enjoy it. Just bought a Bit Boss 4 series and love it. Use to live in Tri Tip country. Santa Maria style BBQ 's are great. Big oak fired pits and a 100lbs of tri tips chile bean's and garlic bread, life was good.
Friendly advice, to keep it closer to med rare, I pull at 110 and let the sear a little longer to carry it to 135.. Tri Tip is a weird cut, some love it but others done. It’s super regional.
$55 Wow their jacking the prices up on that website, Im in California and for this labor day weekend sale I bought 2 for $28 and they were the same size. Geat job on the cook anyways I enjoyed watching it.
After doing research and watching your videos I finally got me a pit boss. I bought the Pit Boss 1100 pro and I love it and it's made smoking meats and cheese so easy
That is awesome! I love getting outside and seeing what I can cook in the smoker! Thanks for letting me know and happy smoking to you Terrence! Enjoy that 1100 Pro 😎
I think it goes by what's popular for the region, we can get tri tip all day long here in Oregon. Love the vertical smoker and the garlic butter was on point. Always enjoy your videos👍
My butcher here on the east coast looked at me like I was crazy when I asked for tri-tip. I’ll have to do the same and order from snake river farms or something...
Nice looking tri tip Mike!! It's a super good forgiving cut and all over around here. A nice medium rare and tender as anything. Have a great week brother!
The Culinary Cookhouse It's strange plus also butchers don't seem to know what they're doing half the time. I want to make it's cousin picanha, it's good, not easy to find.
Tri Tip is such a nice cut. There a re so many thigns we cant get here - but i have found a store that sells tri tip which is great. I cooked one the other day santa maria style :) You sure did this justice - looks awesome.
After watching all your pit boss videos I went out and bought a ProSeries five from Lowe’s. It has definitely made smoking a lot easier. Keep up the good work.
Thanks for your videos! I just bought my P.B. 2nd Pro Series 4 vertical and your videos have been great. Everything has been coming out Just right. Do you sell that T-shirt you're wearing any where? I would love to buy one.
Thanks, Tara! I’ll tell you what, that garlic butter would go good on just about anything. That’s the first time I’ve made it that way and it was really good (and easy)
Nice Mike ! Love the shirt ! Nice subtle editing too ! Nothing wrong at all with SRF meat ! I love the smoked garlic butter ! Your wooo needs to be up about 2 octaves! Lol ! I’ll trade you a tri tip sammich for a shot of Rumple !
Daddy WOOOO Dutch BBQ! 😂 I know, believe me I wanted to dial it up a few notches but my neighbors already think I’m crazy 😜. That would be a fair trade... that Rumple made for one hell of a night last time I tried it.
Thanks for your videos, I've been watching your cooks on the pitboss and I finally pulled the trigger and purchased a 5 series copper head vertical smoker. I see you upgraded your wheels. Any details or videos on that modification ?
Lol. I’ve cooked some killer London broil in my day. It’s more to do with the texture.... it’s kind of a roast and kind of a steak. Hard to explain. I think what sets it apart is the delicious fat layer that runs through there...
HEY MIKE, that was one hell of a awesome video, that Tri-Tip was smoked to perfection and seared to a point that it looked amazing. It was so tender and juicy looking and I wanted a bite of it so bad and I disappointed that I could not have any. That Pit Boss Smoker is the bomb it smokes your food to perfection so keep on a smokin my friend. AWESOME JOB MIKE GOD BLESS YOU.!!!
Little weird on the cut but looks amazing! Just did the pork butt last nigt and out of 13.5 pounds waa about enough left for a sandwiche this morning. Will be trying this cook out looks worth it.
Never done one before although I've heard of them. I just ran across a tri tip at the local grocery - first one I've ever seen and the only one they had so I bought it. $7.99/ lb for a 5.4 lb tri tip packer. $43 total. Sounds like a great deal, right? But I had to trim the hell out of it. I ended up trimming off 2.6 lbs of fat leaving only 2.8 lbs of meat haha. Took some time too. So today I will smoke it low and slow and sear it. I like your garlic butter idea, I will try that. THANKS
Hi, Paul. I cant remember which rubs I used in this video but I will generally use multiple rubs if one rub has something the other one doesnt. For example, I like to use a rub that has salt and pepper in it as a base layer for a nice savory layer and then I might follow it up with a rub that has no salt but is has some sugar and maybe some other spices that the first rub didnt.
Hi, John! Thank you! The garlic butter took that tri tip to the next level! I've had the shed for a couple years but I dont think its been visible in a video for a while.
10 Woo's :D Great video, I've had a camp chef pellet smoker for a few years but after seeing your videos I'm gonna snag the 4 series pit boss vertical that lowes sells. Would love to see your take on some cream cheese stuffed jalapeno bacon wrapped chicken thighs! Trust me, so gooood. Take care!
Thanks, Darrin! You just made me drool a little bit when I read, "cream cheese stuffed jalapeno bacon wrapped chicken thighs" That sounds absolutely amazing! p.s. This is the only pellet smoker I've ever owned so I cant compare it to any other brands but I have been so happy with this smoker... consistent results week after week!
Woooo!!! Mike that tri tip looked really good .Super juicy and tender ..great idea with the garlic butter .. I have had tri tip once it was delicious .. I had to order mine as well I ordered from Madador prime steak . Where did you order yours from ?
smoked tri-tip is ok, but it really does need to be grilled on open flame (oak) not coals on a santa maria grill to manage the heat. nothing like! and then some piquinto beans, garlic bread, and fresh salsa and your chillin on central coast of cali santa maria style. slice it super thin and make sure you pay attention to the grain because its tricky on a tri tip.
I would like to see a video where are you do two different kinds of meat. Something that takes a little bit longer with something that doesn’t take as long and time it so they can come out at the same time and see how they compare.
Lol this was cracking me up with the woos! I was like what is going on ? Yep no tri-tip that I know of around here too. Looks so incredibly delicious! Looks so flavorful and tender. Sorry I missed the giveaway! Thanks for Sharing :)
Thanks, Mel. I was trying not to laugh the whole time I was doing the wooos. It was a lot of fun making that one. I like doing these "secret giveaways" ... its all about giving back to the true fans of the channel :)
I love tri tip it’s so so good.....I’ve had it over charcoal or over wood on a Santa Maria grill....so darn good!!!!
Smoked two 3# tri tips today. Once again, a great video for me to follow. Mine turned out amazing, only my 6th smoke ever. Thank you, keep um coming.

Snake river farms sells high quality meat. It's not cheap stuff
Wooooo! Ric Flair would be loving some of that right now! Great job brother!
Woooo! :)
Moved to St. Louis mo area from California and it took forever for me to find a good tri tip in stores here
good video, I was shocked when I moved from CA to TX and tri tip wasn’t a thing. I’m back in CA and now and I pay about $7-$9 per lb for a tri tip.
Thank you man you videos are great. Please keep it up.
Thank you, Danny!
I use a thick marinade when I grill tri tip, but for smoke, just hit it with butt rub and pull it at 120 to sear. Grill is pull at 115.
After doing research and watching your videos I finally got me a pit boss. I bought the Pit Boss 1100 pro and I love it and it's made smoking meats and cheese so easy

Lovely Lisa Warrior Queen hey Lisa!
Thank you, Lisa!
Never realized that we are spoiled on the west coast with tri tip. Definitely one of my favorite meats to cook on my pit boss Austin XL.
Its funny. I never even heard of Tri-Tip until a couple years ago. It seems to be making its way to the Midwest though so thats good.
My butcher here on the east coast looked at me like I was crazy when I asked for tri-tip. I’ll have to do the same and order from snake river farms or something...
What other people don't have tri tip 🤣 Southern Oregon
Nice looking tri tip Mike!! It's a super good forgiving cut and all over around here. A nice medium rare and tender as anything. Have a great week brother!
Thanks, Charley. I don’t understand why they wouldn’t offer it around here all the time. I smell a conspiracy 😁
The Culinary Cookhouse It's strange plus also butchers don't seem to know what they're doing half the time. I want to make it's cousin picanha, it's good, not easy to find.

Tri Tip for the win!
Thanks, Ry! Now I know why you love it so much. It was soooo good.
Looks great bro!
Use some Red Oak pellets for the "Official Santa Maria Style" Tri-Tip
I can’t find that competition smoked rub. Was it discontinued.

Thank you, Donovan. I dont sell that shirt. It was a birthday gift.
@@WeekendWarriorBBQ No worries, again thanks for the great videos.
Also, we have that same knife and it works so good!
Hi, Lisa! Yeah I love that knife... I've had this knife for a long time and it still cuts like new... just need to sharpen it every now and then.
You had me at garlic butter!!! ❤️😋
Thanks, Tara! I’ll tell you what, that garlic butter would go good on just about anything. That’s the first time I’ve made it that way and it was really good (and easy)

Nice! I havent had one of those in a long time!
Looks good Mike and love all your hilarious shirts. Nice grill marks btw
Thanks, Yochum!
Doesn’t your local Giant Eagle have tri tips?
At the time of this video the answer was no. I did notice them this summer but they were pre-marinaded which is a “ no go” for me.
As always, love your videos. What is the thermometer you are using?

I just got my 5 series pit boss yesterday. So excited to try it out
One of my favorite cuts... $7-$8/lb in So Cal, $4.99/lb on sale
I still have not tried tri-tip, I would hope it tastes alot better than a london broil lol Looked great Mike!

just a quick question why do you use multiple rubs instead of just one ? im pretty sure there is a reason lol
