This Pig is a pure local. Mostly found in remote area. However, due to mix species Pig exporting from neighbouring states our local pig is at the verge of extinct . We can find it in villages especially in Eastern Nagaland. It has a great taste...in Tikhir dialogue we called it as Tang-phuh-thok.
Tenyi Vo is a registered breed of pigs in India. Characterization of the breed has been carried out by ICAR-National Bureau of Animal Genetic Resources, Karnal Haryana.
The best pork.... Though small in size, best in taste. In Poumai tribe dialect we called it Pou-Vo or Vonii If you visit one of the oldest Zeme Naga village called Yangkhullen which is in Senapati district, you'll see this local pig more then dog or chicken roaming around the village.
This Pig & Mithun original is Originated & mostly found only in Ze Mnui village Yangkhullen, bordering nagaland poilwa village, most people from nagaland & other states come to buy for weeding party, due to the remoteness & challenging thick virgin forest most media press could not reach the village at any big events, if the exact origination is told the truth, it will be good or next time we will not sell out mithun or local original pig outside the village. 🙏
In Eastern area we only keep this big in every house.you visit Tobu area under mon district you ll find.here in our place price is opposite.big imported from Assam cost more then this local big..becouse we hardly bring Non local from Assam thats y.
Yes this is pure ancestral pig ase dee.. we called it "Votho" in chakhesang dialect, palibole open space te nahoile alop dikdar ase, ghor khan banailebi kam nai.. tai laga ghor nabanailebi hoijabo..
The original breed as we bred those days would not exceed 40-60 kilos even if it is male! Perhaps it is hybrids that can grow up to 100 kilos! Interestingly this pig is named according to one’s own tribes languages. In Sümi language, we also call it Sümivo.
If the rate is set at Rs 600/kg live weight then a farmer with around 100 of such pure breed (max50kg in one year) will make profit and ultimately pave way to multiply the pure breed population....but its just difficult to do so
I don't see a species of dog which I use to see as a kid in villages. It's mostly black in colour with white marking below the neck with short tail. My grandpa use to call it Shikari Kuta
I don't know if it's the same breed but we also had one. It had long coarse coat and was an efficient hunter. A different kind of hunting dogs r still found in the hills of ukhrul called the Haofa. Look it up.
That's because it's a mix breed....! The original breed weight around 30-70 max... From my personal experience... Our villagers usually rear them in an open or in our compound...
