- Welcome to fordmustang98guy Everyone, Today's In Depth Review I will be showing you the 1997 Ford Aerostar Sport, I take viewers on a close look through the interior and exterior of the van while showing details, over viewing of features, and noting unique styling cues to the vehicle itself. I also show the engine and the details of it, & starting the engine as well. A thorough tour/review of the van designed to give others a greater overall appreciation of the vehicle.
My dad used to drive one of these and it was one of the first vehicles I drove as a teenager. We had the bright green sport one. Great van and performed really well.
Same. My father had a white one
for somereason i like these 90s vans
I would buy one in great shape tomorrow had 4 wonderful vans
I owned a '95 Ford Areostar and had zero problems. Lucky. Sold it for my first new car! Wish I still had my Aerostar!
I had 'bertha' for about 5 years. She was a long bed. I wish I had kept her~
This was a good year for the Aerostar. The 4 liter gave it some serious power. I preferred the extended edition. It gave you a lot of room behind the rear seat. I think it was also the first time to have airbags. They looked weird, but they were a good, sturdy & reliable vehicle. They had a delayed lock on the door, so that if you pressed the lock button while the sliding door was open, it would lock, once the door was closed.
My next door neighbor lent me his very well cared for, customized, and very mint conditioned 1997 Ford Aerostar for 3 whole weeks while my Chevrolet Suburban’s gear box was being rebuilt for new clutches. The vehicle was pretty fun to drive, it had a nice stereo system, a DVD player with screens in it, and plenty of room in the back to get it on with that special someone. I honestly think these vehicles are ugly, but his is in superb condition, and I offered to buy it from him. He won’t sell it to me. His excuse is “What if OUR other neighbor needs it in the future, like you?” “If I sell it, I can’t offer a helping hand.”
The real first time I did any kind of auto detailing (anything more than just vacuuming the interior and power washing the exterior). Was in the summer of 2006 or 2007. My grandfather and I were cleaning up their Aerostar van in order to sell it. We cleaned the van top to bottom. Cargo area, engine bay, shined the tires everything. I'm nostalgic for these vans now that I'm almost 30. Would love to own one in the same colour and model trim like my grandparents owned. Thanks so much for the video!
What year was your grandparents Aerostar?
@@fordmustang98guy definitely a mid 90s model. Same lower body plastic cladding as the one in your video. Except it was brought blue with red, and pinkish pin strip decals. Probably the Sport trim

Nice video! i like how the cars being filmed are "normal" unlike other car review channels which are looking at very expensive ones! keep up the good work
That thing brings back memories of road trips to Mexico
My grandpa had this kind of van but it was a dark blue color and the year was like a late 1995 van but whenever he passed away, it then became my grandma's vehicle that she used more often of her life I enjoyed riding in this van I had such good memories of it with my grandparents in Cleveland Ohio.
Does your grandmother still have that van?
No, she too passed away and my family up in Ohio had to give the van away.
@@jacko7136 oh the van is gone it’s no longer in your family?
@@fordmustang98guy Yes.
I have a 1996 Aerostar, with the 3.0 litre V6, I bought it off the original owner with 155,000 km on it! I have the build sheet and everything, it has NO options whatsoever, except for the 'sport' package - which was included anyway. It has some rust where the running-boards attached to the frame (I took them off the first chance I got) other than that it's perfect. I had one before, a '93 model with double the mileage, and I got parts from another one which had 780,000 km with the original 3.0 motor! They are pretty rare now, but Ford made tons of them, and if you find one in good shape, buy it, they're great.
One of the nicest Aerostars I’ve ever seen, the Sport trim package is extremely rare on these.
this van is very nice very box-y type. this van and the ford spectron/mazda E2000 is my favorite
mines just passed 600,000 documented miles 2nd owner 1st owner was personally friend
wow i just picked one up today for $700 i'm the 2nd owner and it only has 142k original miles
Amazing!
@@internetskater Congrats!!!
I loved this van. My family had one when I was growing up except the one we had looked to be about 2 ft longer and also had the controls in the back on the side for the rear stereo and 2 of the larger headphone jacks lol. I remember my dad had a couple of these huge headphones sansui I believe with the coiled cords and the larger headphone jacks and me and my sister thought we were bad ass sitting back there listening to the radio in the headphones lmao. Was a very nice van though until it was totaled by a FedEx driver. Anyway nice vid. Brought back memories of my childhood.
My dad use to have two of them, on of them was a twilight blue and grey 1992 eddie bauer xlt the large one and the other was a red and champagne 1997 xlt they were amazing both of them were really good I miss them
I just came across your channel and I so far liked some of the videos, even if I don't finish them *Adhd problems* lol I remember when SaabKyle used to do more variety than higher end cars like he mostly does now :(
I'm pretty sure this is exactly my mom's old vehicle.... same color, same model, same year, same wear, same location (Ontario). Dad bought that van for my mom to drive us to school and she only ever drove that in the city (never highway). Dad was the original owner of the vehicle and decided to buy it when Ford decided they weren't going to make the aerostars anymore since Ford was giving such a good deal on them....
wannawin95 they guy that owns that van told me he owned it since 2000 are you sure this used to be your parents van? You might've had the same one like this one but a different particular one
If he did really own it since 2000, then yeah it probably isn't the same one. We got rid of the vehicle in about 2005...the only thing that makes me suspicious is the fact that it's the same colour and wear marks on the bumper.... Dad sold it to a mechanic who was giving it to his father. You by any chance know how this guy got the vehicle in 2000?
wannawin95 why did your dad get rid of your Aerostar that you had back in 2005?
@@fordmustang98guy Dad had an aftermarket extended warranty on the van since he bought it new. It was about an 8 year warranty that was expiring and he didn't want to keep the van out of warranty...
Wow ontario plates...must have kept it in a garage...my dad had an aerostar..many memmories and i learned how to drive in that van...
What year was your dad’s Aerostar?
@@fordmustang98guy i cant 100% say for sure but im thinking a 93 to 94 it was black and grey..*edit* my dad confirmed a 91..but we still had it in 93 and 94 as thats when he started teaching me to drive
The e-brake is on the right side next to the driver's seat. The fuel door release is behind the driver seat, on the bottom of the door frame near the floor.
Ford should bring back the Arrowstar in place of the Transit Connect. They could use the 2.7 Ecoboost, potentially connected to a hybrid system.
It was a wonderful car…we owned 3 and if the idiots at Ford had kept on making them, we’d have kept buying them.I’m sorry the guy who reviewed it did not really know much about it before he presented it. it. I just bought a ‘97 XLT in great shape- a model like the last one we had which some SOB ploughed into the rear of…we should never have let the insurance company total it when all that was damaged was the rear drivers side panel. It was still mint otherwise. I’m having this one updated and will use it for camping.
The fuel door release was actually behind the front seat. I love aerostars!
The worst thing in those vans is rust ,especially in area where the side steps are .
Nice, a friend of mine had a 92 Aerostar van.
love the old aerostars but they were a nightmare to work on.
park brake on the 97 is: reach down right hand side of seat... floor
fuel door release left hand of seat on floor
My parents had the Eddie bauer edition with an big 90s cell phone!
great looking van. those were palms made into a cross from Palm Sunday.
the fuel door open is on the bottom left of the driver seat towards the back. Left is you are sitting in the seat.. In between driver door and seat
I haven't seen one in a very long time.
Is Van was history since I grew up in 1986 to 1997 Then the Ford windstar took its place in 1995. I remember all 1997 Arostars models all red and clear backup taillights.
So how exactly do u open the hood I got the same vehicle but can't find a way after I pop the hood
3L vulcan with coil pack to each cylinder and injectors on each cylinder.. earlier versions were one injector on air intake
I have seen one of these! I had kind of looked down on it for a bit, it's a nice car but there quite ugly, but they are pretty much the best looking minivan of the time, and they can haul things better than most cars of the time, but the hauling job was replaced by larger trucks and SUVs, still a cool car though!
My grandparents had one of these when my dad and aunt were teenagers except theirs was blue I think
We only a regular '94 XLT we owned until at least 2004.
+ fordmustang98guy I mean do they make anymore of those Ford Aerostars my mistake I messed up
Why didn’t you take the van for a test drive ?
Well I did not ask the owner at the time of that video
@@fordmustang98guy next time ask the owner ahead of time otherwise very nice video:)
@@Aspen-gaming unfortunately the guy who owns that AeroStar he doesn’t have it anymore
@@fordmustang98guy I understand I meant for any future car reviews you do
How do you get to review these cars?
42luke roblox people who are in my area
@@fordmustang98guy
Wow that is nice of them. I can never imagine me walking around and asking people to review their cars. They must all know your cool channel!
and this is the only model year to have different color tailights
The parking brake was on the floor to the right of the drivers seat.
I saw the parking brake lol
Would you recommend one of these minivans? I mean between Aerostar and the Astro Which one you recommend me to buy, I don't have much budget and I want to buy one minivan, to use it on the road, which one you think is the best.
Emilio Carrillo you would tent to have less problems with the Astro...
Astros are horrible
Don't listen to him lol
Those are death traps
Get the Aerostar
Emilio Carrillo I know I’m late lol but I hope you got an Astro. If you have an Aerostar and theres a child sitting behind you. He or she could die because the seats do collapse when you get rear ended. And there is a chance your Aerostar might accelerate on its own and there’s nothing you could do to stop it even when the brakes are applied
@@dionnewarwicksdivacup3108 I've never had a cable operated throttle open on its own and the brakes are stronger than any of the engines that were offered. I'd be more worried about the automatic transmission leaving you stranded.
Changing spark plugs in these are a pain lol
My dad had a 96 sport.
My aunt had this vehicle. It was white.
Was it rare that my parents had a Manual version of this van?
Not super rare, just less common. Only the 3.0L had a manual option and sport package.

+ fordmustang98guy do they make anymore of those Ford Alerostars
***** oh ok. Does that 97 Ford Areostar get good gas mileage
***** I looked it up and it doesn't get good gas mileage
***** oh ok
***** ok but it still gets terrible gas mileage
***** your right it doesn't get good gas mileage
Get them while they last because these are dinosaurs now and they are very rarely available so if you get one fix it and keep it defense are keepers.
can you do a 2006 toyota sienna?
Por favor quiero que vengas por mi

And you wonder why you don't see em anymore...LOL.

I don’t like the aerostars with plastic panneling.
This van is a meme. I saw one at a stop light the other day, was silver, with red 'sport' logo. Van was in good condition, couldn't help but giggle when I saw it.
Por favor
Literally 100% copy of what SaabKyle does..... Come on, you are your own person, you can be unique.
JonP227GT shut up no one needs your opinion already to many people say that shit all the time just leave the guy alone he’s just trying to do what he likes to do it doesn’t matter if he does what saabkyle does if he enjoys making these videos than let it be just shut up and leave him the fuck alone
I can agree Jon. He could've had his own style of making this video, though I actually liked it.
Ford Escape I mean yea he did copy some of saabkyle04 stuff but I like his reviews even if he copy’s some of his stuff
Why are you copying Saabkyle lol😂😂😂😂
I didn't know saabkyle was the only one in the world allowed to do car reviews. Wow!
@@katieducky23 he's referring to the format the guy is doing the video in. This used to be Saab Kyle's format in his much older videos dating back to 08 but his format has since changed around 2012 and onward. This guy and a handful of other people copy off of his style. It's fair to say it's not really Kyle's style anymore though.
a lot of them died with the cash for clunkers program.
I love ford but I don't think these were very good.
Horrible camioneta, malísima y como fallaba.
U DONT KNOW THE HP AND TORQUE DISLIKE
Omg Ford Mustang 98 why?!?
