My Wife and i used to listen to this song at least once a day for years, devestatingly we lost her 6 months ago to cancer at the age of 39! When i here this song i get a flood of emotions and i always end up in tears, some sad for our loss and some of joy for the memories of sharing this song with her. Found this band and song on a very dark time in my life where I lost someone very close and dear to my heart. My cousin introduced them to me and as I jumped in more and more into their music, it really comforted me through all the grief I was going through and no matter how terrible that time of my life was there was this time when I found Sticky Fingers. I think your average person can tell when something isn't genuine. We have a certain instinct for it. So when you hear someone singing from the soul about something real and meaningful it's truly infectious. But there is definitely something special about his voice. Familiar yet you can't place it. This was one of our favourite songs. Everytime we were on the road, which was the thing we loved the most, we would listen to it and she would ask me to sing it for her. Driving beside her while listening to music is one of the things i miss the most. Now i still listen to this but i look to my side and she's not there anymore. I would give it all to go back. Back when i felt true hapiness and joy, when it all made sense. I hope she still listens to this song and remembers the good old times.

This song has recently hit me hard in the last few days. I lost my grandfather to a heart attack a day before our country (Nz) went into lockdown due to the pandemic. Part of our culture is to be by our loved one's side all the way until they are buried so they are not alone in their journey to the after world.
Because of the lockdown my family were not aloud to guide our beloved grandfather on his journey to our ancestors and we were forced to get him cremated which is against our tradition. On top of that many of our family were not allowed to travel back to see him before he left us as flights had been blocked. The only positive was that few of us were able to spend the night with him and grieve our loss before the hearse arrived and took him away on his own, none of us were allowed to follow him, it was the last time we ever got to see him.
These lyrics, to me explain the cyclone that my poor grandfather has to face on his own without us. The second verse is perfection in a sense of what I had felt as I carried him out of the house and into the hearse.
