    We had an old iPhone SE gathering dust, so it was worth propping it up on a deck railing, to catch the minutes leading up to the 3:17pm solar eclipse 11 miles SSW of Pittsburgh #pennsylvania
    Covering the lens with solar eclipse glasses made the video worse, so here is an 'open lens' recording of the event. Putting on solar eclipse glasses gave a clear view of just what was happening, as the sun was covered from the bottom right, upward.
    As forecast, clouds did play a role in limiting the type of perfect viewing you would have with clear skies, but cloud cover was better than predicted. It didn't get as dark as we thought it might during the 97% eclipse here, but our solar panels software read out did drop drastically in conjunction with the eclipse.     It was interesting to see the contrails of a jetliner pass just below the sun at the beginning of the video, and a group of what appear to be hawks, flying over toward the end, while many other birds crossed over during the video's 20 minute duration.
