I love that chuck key! It looks super convenient. One of the things I've been lucky enough to use is a collet chuck lathe. It really holds bar stock true and tight. I made a bunch of punches with old valve stems from some steam valves that we did repairs on. Super hard material, but the tooling I used made quick work of it. Enjoy your content.
Dude this is so cool! I thought you were gonna do the knurling by cutting a bunch of diagonal lines in both directions, I don’t know anything about machining though lol, awesome video!
Thats awesome! Our lathe is like that 50 years old and definitely has a wobble. Use it for bending blowpins straight now. I wonder if those smaller harbor freight lathes could do this ?
Great simple project. Brass punches ain't cheap. Thanks Dan
Thank you!!
I have two lathes and a mill and somehow I never thought of this. Thanks for the video!
Glad to help! Thanks!!

The one single Brass "punch" in our shop is an old Brass bolt my grandfather has had forever, used it more times than can count lol.
Cool.

Nice one on the lathe 👍. If someone doesn't have access to a lathe, Amazon mayhew brass punch set mid $30usd 8in x 3/4 and two smaller ones😊
No lathes here but used a drill and 1/2” OD to make three punches from one solid rod.
You ALWAYS THINK OF NIFFY THINGS!
Thanks!
THANKS! For letting me know WHAT MY FOUR THICK HANDLES TOOK OFF MY DAD OLD DESK YEARS AGO ARE WIRTH! Wow🤨
Just curious what grade brass from McMaster Carr 360?
I honestly don’t remember. Sorry. I know it was bottom tier
Ok thanks Dan
