I love how you mention the principles and elements and design as you make your arrangement. Very helpful for a florist student like me. Very generous. Thank you. Xx
Oh my word!! This has to be my favourite summer arrangement of all time. It has all the elements that give the feel of a quintessentially English county garden and meadow. Stunning, absolutely stunning. Thank you so much xx
Lover that idea, I have a nice bowl to work that idea and I would of never thought the hydrangea's that way, I can't wait to create this idea arrangement, Thanks. Phillip of Portland, OR.
So beautiful!! It would be great to see the arrangements after2-4 days out of the cooler, especially with using the tender flowers. Just found your channel about a month ago. You’re a Master! 💐🌷🌺🌹
Thank you! Glad you have found us 😊 That# an interesting suggestion - and a good suggestion. In Scotland we didn’t use a cooler - but maybe further south it would be a good addition. 🌼🙋🏼♂️
If I dead I swear I hope my family find u to do my flower arrangements for my funeral. That way I know I was put away in peace surrounded in beauty by your touch of class 😊
Water Dragon it depends on what the design is for. You could use faux versions, or pastel germini, or anthirrinums. It would depend what you can source - so the effect visually might vary a little bit. 😀🌼
Your design, the one you have posted. Anthirrum n Gemini, heads too big. Not as delicate n flexible as your poppy. Ummm, will go to the flower market n look
QUESTIONS: How long does it take for the Poppies to break out??? AND: Won't the other flowers wilt or die BEFORE the POPPIES OPEN??? It would be interesting to know WHEN to cut the Poppies one is going to use!!! Thank you!
George Garcia these actually opened quite quickly - so they were good in relation to the other flowers. I think it would depend on the ambient temperature - if warm they will open quickly but if you want them to be slow then place them somewhere cooler. The poppies look good in all dates though - as buds as well as flowers 😀🙋🏼♂️
Astilbes and hydrangias are usually sold in supermarkets as potted plants rather than a cut flower so may be more expensive but achievable. Poppies are not really sold in supermarket bouquets due to their short life as a cut flower so check out the other comments for potential substitutions. If you don't have a garden you could keep a few houseplants such as a bowl of hyacinths in spring to give you access to garden varieties in season.
Polly Conner it depends on a few factors - the varieties of flowers used, the season, and the ambient temperature - so in summer it’s warmer so flowers will last less time. If an arrangement is watered every day then this is the best way to help the flowers last. I would want flowers in foam to last a week if possible. Using a knife instead of scissors gives a better cut, and a cut on an angle allows more water up the stem. It al, adds up - the more you do the better they will do!
Hello, I love this arrangement, It is stunning. Could you please help me, my daughter would like a wedding bouquet of Astilbe how many stems do you feel should be used?
Grace Lisnal Hi Grace - thanks for your comment. It would depend on the style of the bouquet that she would want. If just astilbe then you would need a good 30 stems I think just in case they are not heavy, but a good suggestion would be to use a base of foliage to work the astilbe through, so then about - 15 stems would be fine. This is making a hand tied style. The time of year and the general size of the material can vary from year to year, so I would always err on the safe side and have more than you actually use so you can pick the best of stems.
malak S. yes, hydrangea can be a problem, especially in floral foam. Best advice is to really condition them well in advance of use, so the6 are fully hydrated. Ideally use in water rather than foam - so that depends on what you have to make! If for a wedding I would try and use them on the day rather than in advance, keep somewhere cool, mist with water - and some are better than others for lasting. So I find the green and coloured later season types are much better than the softer summer pastel ones - but that doesn’t help if you are doing a wedding!
pony girl good question - well there are two of us making the channel - my colleague Janos and myself, so we took the Jo from John and the os from Janos and you get JOOS ! So Flower JOOS was born 😀
Wow, very nice! Never thought of using hydrangea like that. Looks like the flowers are in a pink cloud. 🙂

I wish I could see the arrangement once the Poppies have opened up :)
TiggyStardust this arrangement has been so popular - I think the different flowers really appealed to everyone.
Where can I find these kind of beautiful flowers?
Por favor hacer acercamiento a las flores.
Most of us only have access to purchase flowers from a supermarket. Where can we get such flowers that you use in your videos and also foliage?

I tried Hydrangea in an arrangement and it wilted in only day. any advice?
