@@mauricekooiker70 nope, if penalty, the yellow is enought. Penalty + redcard for the goal keeper is a double sanction and is not fair. In europe it'd be only penalty and yellow card for the GK.

Doesn’t matter if it would have been a goal. The tules are very clear that as long as there is an attempt to play the ball it is only a yellow and a penalty. The red card would be warranted outside the box but this was a ridiculous call. The only thing I can think of is that the ref said he didn’t attempt to play the ball.
@@offthehookproductions4481you’re absolutely right, pretty spot on breakdown of what the referees thought process was. In this case his interpretation of it not being an attempt at playing the ball is incorrect.

Another week, another comment section full of delusional sounders fans complaining about a red card. Frei took the guy down w/o playing the ball. Just because he tried to disguise it doesn’t make it not a red.

Nah the arm moved way late and he made contact on the attackers leg above where the ball would have been. Frei knew what he was doing that was deliberate.

That same play has been given as a yellow in MLS previously. The ball was headed out of play and it wasn't obvious he could have gotten to it before it went out. It should have been a yellow by MLS rules.
@@khamel45,dude that was clearly DOGS0. Frie didn't play the ball and took him down denying the opportunity of scoring a goal. Which is a automatic red in any league.

I just saw the highlights. Penalty was ok whether referee would have been called a foul of GK and then yellow card, but NOT a RED one !

Please clarify for me the rules of dogso. Specifically the part where it explains fouls in the penalty box and double jeapordy.
@offthehookproductions4481 I'd the player makes a play for the ball and commits a dogso then it's just a yellow and a PK. If the player does not make a play for the ball then you can get a red and a PK.
The red ended up getting reminded so I'm guessing SEA argued that he made a play for the ball.
Personally it's definitely a little sketchy. Not sure he made a play for the ball and didn't intentionally just go for his leg but it is possible that is what he was doing. Tricky to tell intent sometimes.
