      Thank you Ivy for this insightful and educative video. I can't say I fully grasp how I could immediately put this into use, but I have been wrestling a lot as to how I can develop the self confidence I used to have in my youth to overcome a lot of situations I now fall into where I literally let people get away with certain ways they do act towards me. I have been even thinking how I can use magic to bring some aggressiveness into my life because later years I have suddenly become a Mr too soft and afraid to get things head on thinking I would hurt others even though they're doing things that are hurting me. I really seek a solution to this weakness. I hope I could get some tips?? Thanks once more for being so generous in sharing your personal experiences, thereby giving one an idea into this phenomenon. Love❤❤

    So like, full disclosure, I'm a plurality/system, so this video is just so FUNNY, in a way.
    But I also find it a little comforting that when you revealed which archetypes were fronting, it aligned exactly with the related headmates that were copiloting here 😂 really fun bit of synchonicity there.

    😂😂😂 I’ve done this for years I thought I was nuts! I had no idea it was even a thing! I have specific outfits, hair styles all kinds of stuff. If I sit with myself ahead of a meeting or event etc, I can often have one of them come forward in my mind and let me know I will need their energy that day. I’m a Sociologist, so I always thought it was some kind of performance management thing mixed in with intuition. Thankyou so much as always for your wonderful insight! I really appreciate your videos 🙏

    I did a LOT of graduate study in Jungian thought. Your book choices are solid. if I were new to Jung and not deeply into scholarly works, I’d start with Key Ideas. Archetypes and the Collective Unconscious is . . . whew! A very, very deep dive! The first time I read it, I skimmed it for class. The second time I read it, it took me, maybe six months to get through, with me taking lots and lots of notes. The third time I read it, it was an old friend.

    I LOVE this video, voted on this topic and I'm so glad you covered it!
    Some archetypes I recognize in myself: The Mother. Strengths: similiar energy to the Healer; very nurturing and giving, takes care of her family and loved ones, very empathetic and trust-worthy, finds strength to keep going even when she wants to give up. Weakness: Pours too much energy into other people leaving her own cup empty which quickly leads to burnout, losing sense of her individuality because she get's lost in the mother-role and lives for others.
    The Siren. Strengths: Flirty, confident, seductive, knows how to get what she wants. Weakness: Can be manipulative; might hurt herself in an attempt to take power over a situation as she often acts this way because of past trauma/abuse from relationships or even se*ual violence.

And named these Archietypes, I’ve had a very similar type of childhood and suffered with depression my whole life and use witchcraft has helped me greatly manage this and with phyc help too. I just never had a real name for my architypes. I just pulled this energy forward and worked with it. It’s interesting that you too have specific jewelry for your architypes too, I have different sets for mine. And only wear them when I need to call upon them. Commenting as I watch - this is too good, Ivy!
    I LOVED hearing you mention the inner teenager because OMG, yes, we need to discuss it more! One of the most difficult, painful, emotionally devastating tarot reads I've ever done for myself was the first time I asked to speak with my inner teenager. She took the floor, as she always did, just desperate to be heard. Only this time, she actually was heard. I wonder, when exactly, did she decide she'd rather just be quiet? We're still figuring that out, but we're working on it, we're finding a voice filled with confidence again.
    We ABSOLUTELY share the Mad Scientist archetype...the arrogance/ignorance/rude thing, phew. I also refer to my mad scientist as a "he" hahaha. Very much seems to correlate to my natal Mercury placement (Aqua), a very prominent planet in my chart. I like pulling from the Mad Scientist & the Artist at the same time, to really get that creative genius energy flowing.
    I deeply relate to coming out of the womb having an existential crisis, I was born like half disconnected. I used to concern my mother with the things I asked as a toddler...lol.
    This was a fantastic video, thanks so much for sharing with us! There were so many points where I was like YES! I relate! Not to mention the wealth of insight you've shared, I am definitely inspired to work more with archetypes in my practice! You've given me much to ponder!

    OMG I’m so glad I voted for this topic and it won!!! BTW, I love your dark academia outfit for this video. It goes along with the Achiever archetype! Thank you for sharing your personal archetypes! It made this video so much easier to understand! Now that I know what shadow work is and what it involves I am completely into reading the big book that Jung wrote. I think identifying my archetypes will really help me understand myself and use what I’ve got in my magic practice. However, I know some of my archetypes are going to be really ugly due to me growing up with a mom with schizophrenia paranoia disorder, and me dealing with breast cancer in my early 30’s. Although, I think both of those experiences definitely brought out the fighter in me. Especially the breast cancer because I was told I had 18 months to live. That was in 2002. There was a price to pay for that victory though, and I’m currently heavily medicated for several psychiatric disorders. There’s always a price to pay. Thank you for this video! Jung does gives us more full inner families; Freud the id, ego, superego. I attended integrated family therapy for more than a couple of years and it was fascinating. We see in the hard sciences that nature has parallels between large and small things and beings. (Joseph Campbell's relatively recent books are explications of Jung and good reads.) I worked on my inner family but not in the sense of particular architypes. (In any "family" there are some monsters.)

    Idk if this is connected, but i just watched kelly ann maddox's video on Drama/Theatre in witchcraft and thought of the idea of dressing as the archetypes aesthetically. Ive been fascinated with archetypes for a while but didnt know how to work with them. So far, i feel like i have an inner mother, inner masculine, maybe a priestess archetype (??), my shadow self (her name is Lilith) and Hathor the egyptian love goddess. I called my masculine side Kale when i was younger and just last year, he fronted and was like "you named me....after a vegetable??! Nah, my name is Kai now" 😂 him fronting is what caused me to be confused about my gender. Great video on the topic! I hope there's more to come 😊

  • @HaydenStefano
    @HaydenStefano 10 місяців тому

    I really appreciate how you have different pronouns for different archetypes. A while ago, I started a journey of gender identity and I realized I had more feminine archetypes then masculine. Like The Healer and the fighter for me are both very feminine, but my Hopeless Romantic tends to be more masculine, I also identify with Mars for this archetype, but specifically from the Roman pantheon

    Thank you for this wonderful video Ivy! This came just in time for me. Been wanting to do shadow work for a while now. I actually call my archetypes, aspects of myself. But I like the possibilities of actually having an archetype. Lately, I just feel real lost, not exactly whole, if that makes sense? So, again...thanks for this video and all your wonderful work here. ❤

      It makes total sense! I find that viewing our psyche as a system - a team of people ready to help us succeed at any given moment - is really heartwarming. It's cozy knowing you have so many archetypes that have your back. Excited for your journey! ❤️

    Love this video! I definitely understand your description of them. My inner (bitchy) teenager comes into my driviers seat far too much. Another I would call Parent for me helps with my job with young adults, being a parent and helping others. The one major negative of having the Parent and inner teenager at play at the same time is that the teenager reacts to situations the Parent is in and it can be detremental if the wrong one has the wheel! Thank you for helping me give my multi faceted mind different discriptions!

  • @thekarret2066
    @thekarret2066 11 місяців тому

    I got 2 of the three; I figured Mad Scientist for sure, Achiever for sure, but the last one I didn't know, I was thinking maybe Healer or Inner Child/Teenager [I was thinking of the healed version, where there's the sense of wonder and excitement about what you're doing].
    I've noticed; well, even my sisters have noticed at least one, a few different aspects of myself; my sisters noticed this Orphan child, like an Oliver Twist type character that like the way I say things sometimes, sounds very like "may I please have these crumbs if it wouldn't be too much trouble?", it just sounds like that, and I've also noticed what I call my inner serial killer, that I consider just like this humanoid shape of dripping black tar and it's pretty silent and misanthropic, but it's kind of... idk if other aspects of myself have restrained it or it developed its own code where it doesn't activate unless someone's being an asshole; it would want to murder itself if it hurt someone/something who was just happily existing, not hurting anyone; it also activates on behalf of others - if I see others being treated poorly, so it's got an oddly protective nature to it, but kind of like violently protective, and if you've crossed a line with it, all it will think about is how to make you suffer. I let it run around in fictionland where it can explore the darker themes it wants to in a safe place. I think I also have a more.... adventurous/outgoing aspect that's all about having fun and enjoying things; chatting with folks and trying/exploring new things. I think those are the main ones for me.. I'll have to think more on if I have others. XD I probably have more, but the three big ones I notice the most are the Orphan Child, the Serial Killer, and the.. idk Charismatic Adventurous one. I don't have like a romantic one, other than like... romantic in the sense of like that one narrator from that Christmas Story movie, where I think like "oh I'll do X and then Y impossible thing will happen and it'll be this grand response to X that I did" that's the closest to romantic I get, I'm not very lovey dovey. XD

    Hi Ivy! Have you wondered if your prophet archetype is actually a spirit. Alot of lucid dreams and disconnection can indicate a spirit trying to come through to help in some way. Just a thought ❤

    • @IvyTheOccultist
      @IvyTheOccultist  11 місяців тому

      What an interesting thought! If it is a spirit, it's definitely one that has been with me since I was a child. It almost feels like nothing-ness and spending too much time in the Prophet always results in a disconnection from the physical realm. What a fun thing to contemplate! ❤️🙏

    Is there a difference between this and DID(Dissociative Identity Disorder)? Is it the ease of communication and the lack of amnesiac barrier or dissociation?

    • @amyl4362
      @amyl4362 9 місяців тому +1

      Personally, as a plural system, I see it as a matter of perspective and the healthiness of the internal relationships. Lots of people have many different people or parts in their mind, and DID is just the medical label for when there's internal dysfunction between those people or parts.

    What are your views on these archetypes and their relation to "spirit guides." My brain is drawing way too many connections between internal systems / archetypes and the new age concept that we have spirits specifically for us to help guide us and deal with life's shit. It is hard to tell where the line is between the internal and external spirits/archetypes. Thank you for expanding my mind!

      Just perspective, basically

    • @amyl4362

    As I’m listening to this a second time, I’m wondering if your archetypes are listed in Carl Jung’s book or are they ones that you gave a name? … You just answered my question! I just stopped the video too soon! 😂 How did you come up with your own archetypes?

    • @IvyTheOccultist
      @IvyTheOccultist  11 місяців тому +1

      Oh yes, my archetypes are very modern! They are inspired by Carl Jung but definitely not his traditional archetypes. As far as the process goes to figuring out what your archetypes are... When you are in a group of friends, who do you tend to be? What role do you play? When you are at work, what role do you typically take on compared to your coworkers? Who are you when you're with your family? How do you react under pressure? By assessing yourself in these different scenarios, you can kind of start to see different archetypes you might slip in and out of throughout your day. Try to understand these energies first and THEN give them a name. (Rather than the other way around.) When I first discovered my Mad Scientist archetype, I didn't know what he was called. I just knew I had this intellectual/experimental mad man inside me. Eventually, after figuring out his positive and negative impacts on my life, I was better able to give him the name "mad scientist." I hope that helps!

    Wow! I learned so much from this. I have always been extremely aware of all the people that live inside my head and their various roles, but I've never had it framed in an archetypical perspective. I have always thought of balance as the key, but I think spending some time with each one, dressing them, contemplating their gifts and pitfalls will make it easier to switch among them, working with whoever is best suited for the situation, and creating a more successful homeostasis. And the statement about the achiever origin...uffda , a relatable truth felt deep in my core. I am both excited and fearful to work all of this further into my practice. Once again, thank you so much for sharing wisdom and vulnerability.
