Looks like there might even be an improvement in the change of makers. The South African machete models often had super bad grind lines that were hard to correct. This is pretty neat and quite sharp. Going from 1055 to 1065 is also not making anything worse.
@@tomritter493 ,… Hello Tom. Hope you’re doing well. Thanx! It is a great blade so it seems. Way better than I had thought it would be. I thought it was too thin to be a good Bowie knife and way too short to be a worthwhile machete. BUT,… It’s quick in the hand. Very sharp. I’m starting to reconsider. I like it.
@JoeDoomsday I'm sure it will be equal. I only mentioned it because you made me go look and see where mine was from. Mine took a lot of work to get a sharp edge like I felt it needed, so maybe the steel change is a good thing. I wore a popsicle stick splint on my thumb for a couple weeks after I sharpened it. 🤣
Thanks for showing us. I consider buying this one too. Bowie knives are like THE knife. So, why not, just for the fun of it 🙂 I know you like music from Germany, do you know the band "Böhse Onkelz" in the USA?
@JoeDoomsday Got you, check the band out. But make sure to type the name in like I did in my comment. Maybe you like it. You can search for a specific song, it's called "Erinnerungen" (Memories), one of my favorites 😉
@@colinburgess9455 ,… That was my thoughts when I first saw it too. That’s why I held off from buying one for all these years. But there are some hard use videos on UA-cam. JoeX beats the crap out of it in multiple videos. It hold up pretty good & considering I will never put it through that much abuse it should be fine. Looks cool. I think these budget machetes would make good gifts, good truck knives. I don’t know about long term survival but it could get you out of a pinch if you found yourself stranded in the boonies somewhere.
@@JohnLemon-xq4pd ,… I’m not sure. When I ordered mine it was hard to find out what the exact steel was. I contacted Svord and they emailed me back stating that the steel was Swedish L-6 tool steel. I had heard of Japanese L6 before but not Swedish L-6 steel. I stated that in one of my old videos and people in the comments told me I was wrong and it was a different steel. I don’t even remember what steel they claimed it was. I contacted Svord again and they said the Von Tempsky Bowie, the Von Tempsky Ranger & the Ned Kelly Toothpick was Swedish L-6 steel. Only those high end Svord blades,… Not the other Svord models. That was then, this is now. I’ve seen some reviews where I could see the Von Tempsky Bowie they were reviewing wasn’t the same as mine. Theirs appeared more silvery and a touch thinner. Their version just didn’t seem as good as the one I got. Mine is so good I haven’t had the need to purchase another one yet. It’s still almost like new. It holds a great edge, strops back to very sharp pretty fast And it looks great. Anyhow I don’t know if Svord is still using L6 for the Von Tempsky Bowie or if it’s something else. The heat treatment and blade geometry is probably way more important anyhow. So that being said, I hope you get a good one like I did.
The jungle bowie is nice too, with the sharp clip also
Gotta love Bowie knife's 😊😊😊
@@DigitalNomad765 ,… Yup 👍🏻
@JoeDoomsday 😀😀

Nice blade. Bulky handle, but it gets real sharp
Mine is from South Africa

Not really a bowie or a machete, I doubt It could be relied on in any role.

I say cold steel died with lynn thompson lol how are you doing joe been a while
@@JohnLemon-xq4pd ,… I’m fine. Thanx for asking. How are you doing? Ya Cold Steel has taken a turn for the worse. It’s a darn shame

@JoeDoomsday slightly different steel for the uk mines 1080 carbon but that shouldn't make a difference right?
