Wow how perfect! Such a beautiful and charming piece. I can picture the orchestra in their wigs and the audience in their fine garments. Classical music is a beautiful thing. I am so happy to see his works finally receiving praise and understanding his history.
How I wish the great orchestras and soloists would perform his symphonies and concertos and upload for us to see them. His are great works and deserve to be SHOWN. Come on folks don't deprive us any longer.
Agreed. Another listener heard this piece on the radio. Hopefully more orchestras will feel compelled to play Bologne's work as more listeners discover him.
There is a similar sound. I've listened to so much of Bologne's music that when I hear Mozart I think for a second that it's Bologne until I realize the piece isn't actually familiar to me. A sign of their times I guess. And great minds do indeed think alike.
Just heard this on CPR Classical in Boulder while coming home from work. It was so beautiful I looked it up and this is it! This music perfectly matched the movement of the flock of birds in the sky this morning! Gorgeous. Magical!
Hello. I agree, beautiful and magical. It's great to hear that they were playing this. I'm glad you found it! Have you listened to anymore of Bologne's music? I have as much as I can find here in playlists. The other symphonie concertantes are great as well.
Just hear something by him on CPR Classical and came home and looked it up. Very gorgeous! There were birds flying in the sky and the music matched their movements perfectly. A magical moment driving home from work.
Joseph Bologne's music readily brings to mind Mozart's own music. That shouldn't be surprising as the latter about 11 year younger learned more than some composing tricks when both were lodging together for a while in Paris. In particular the 'Symphony concertante' style music was the gift Joesph Cologne gave to the world....Albert Baily

Agreed. I often think about what it would have been like to attend these performances. Over 200 years later and the music still moves audiences.

Definitely of the same time period. That High Classical style is delightful!
Fascinante !!

My first time hearing this music.
Hello, welcome over. I hope you enjoyed! There's plenty more to listen to.
Charming.
inspiration et exécution hors pair !
There is no reason why his compositions are not played as often as those of the great European masters.
A very useful insight. Do you have the date of this recording please?
I believe this was recorded in the 70s, I think 1979, and released a few times since then. This one was remastered and released in 2019.
Where can I find a score and parts for this?
