As both a musician and a filmmaker, and someone who's recently discovered your music, I was delighted to see you guys have a short film out too! Loved this, and here's some of the things that really resonated with me: -The blood on the dog - incredibly visceral. And despite it's innocence, every time you look at it you're reminded of his father's tragic death -The rhythm of the "playing catch" scene. The way the movements cut faster and faster and start to just blur into one feeling -The fact that the lead character initially reacted with bodily disgust to his father's death (feels more realistic than him crying straight away) -The ambiguity of: "did the dog eat his father??" -The alcohol he was going to give his father ended up being used as fuel for the fire -The paper from the retirement home pamphlet being used to light the fire -The fact that you cut before we could see whether or not he takes the dog with him (reminds me a bit of the last shot from Inception - the mystery of it, but the hope of it too) -The mix of tragedy and hopefulness Really enjoyed this and keen to keep listening to your music! Sending love from Brisbane, Australia
