I did also run 1/4 staples into pine and didn't have to readjust the force setting. Overall in my oppinion in this case it really comes down to which platform you are currently running. But my preference is defiantly the M12 in this case.
Straight to the point review and thanks for saving us from having to watch you drive 1000 staples into each material.
I have the Makita and I love it. One of the things that he failed to discuss is penetration. The Makita is the most powerful stapler in this bunch or any bunch for that matter to date. If you come across metal the Makita will penetrate. It does not always do it flawlessly but it does it whereas the others just don't have the power. It is difficult to find the 7/8 Staples but not impossible. They're going to cost you quite a bit though. Expect to spend about $100 for 5000.
These staplers are one of the tools you'll just buy whatever platform your already in. It's not one of the tools you'll plan your cordless platform around.

I have the M12 stapler and agree that it works great. I agree that the adjustment wheel is awkward to turn, and I also agree that there's not much need to adjust it. I don't think the 12v platform is a handicap here, these are pretty low power tools. Great video!
Yep lucky you don't have to adjust it a lot, that's really my only complaint.

Great Video and Review of all these different staplers. I own the Ryobi and just got the M12 one. I like the Ryobi and worked Great, but I love how the M12 feels compared to it. Feels sleek and lightweight in comparison. I’ve been heavily investing in the M12 platform as it has the power to do 99% of my projects I have and has a variety of tools to choose from. Serious impressed with M12 platform

I'm in the process of migrating a lot of my tools from the Ridgid 18v plattform to the M12. I have a LOT of the 18v tools and a bunch of the batteries but man that M12 system is SUPER sweet. Way lighter than the 18v system of Ridgid and so many more mechanics tools (kinda shifted trades from carpentry to mechanics over the years). I'm in a real pickle here, as I need a power stapler for a project tomorrow and I DO have 1 m12 2.0 battery and bother staplers are 99 bucks at HD right now so I can go for it but I'm afraid the single 2.0 battery isn't going to get the job done and I really REALLY don't want to pay RETAIL for an extra battery.. darnit what to do. I'll probably get the Ridgid and if it's lousy I'll return it and get the Milwaukee and a couple batteries when they go on sale.
Good video though I wish there was more field testing. Anyone can find these specs, but it would have been good to see them run through their paces
Hart, ryobi and ridgid probably made by the same company. (Hart and ryobi for sure.) I own hart and it's functioning fine for light jobs on the go. bought it way cheaper than the msrp.
I use 3/8 22g upholstery pneumatic guns for all day firing.
Yeah you can typically find good deals on Hart.
I just bought the Ryobi crown stapler. It you don't have to restart to fire a staple. It works just like the Milwaukee. Press and go no restart
Interesting the one I tested you have to re-pull the trigger everytime you lift off the surface.
So you haven't noticed the "rapid fire" mode on the Worx... 😏
Well I’m on 3 of the 6 battery platforms…M12, Ridgid, and Ryobi. I have been leaning towards the M12 but the price is better on the other 2. Of all the reviews I’ve seen, you have been more decisive on picking the best of the bunch.
Yeah I think the m12 is the clear winner in this case, but I agree the price is better on the ryobi and Ridgid. Really depends on how much you are going to use it.
I paid 30.00 for my ryobi stapler. 40$ off and it was reconditioned. I have used it once so far and I am happy.

Good review. That auto trigger option on Milwaukee is a real strong selling point, but being able to swap battery from one Ryobi tool to another Ryobi tool like a drill is a stronger selling point. I'm sick and tired of different batteries and chargers. right now I'm with Dewalt and Ryobi and staying with them..........

I'm in the same place. I have a bunch of Ridgid 18v batteries and tools, but I do have 1 M12 battery / charger and a couple of the small impact drivers.. man I don't know what to do, I have kind of been migrating over.. I wish considering Milwaukee Ridgid and Ryobi are all owned by the same brand that at least the 12v stuff would all have the same battery. No.. why would they do that?

Another great review. The Makita XTS01Z isn't widely available in the UK, the DST221Z seems to be more readily available. Loads of staples though, not sure if they would fit your model without looking into it further.
Thanks! Interesting knowing Makita the DST221Z is probably the newer version. They look identical though. I will have to do more research, Im curious why 2 different models..Yeah its kinda funny, I don't understand why Makita branded staples cant be easy bought here.
Dst221z looks the same, just makita has different names for US models.
Also made in japan so a higher price is not that bad, and it has ample power
Project Farm showed Makita the far the best and I trust Project Farm.
oh, I don't know if this would be too much to ask. For the next video, can you do....cordless belt sanders? Currently out are Ridgid, Makita, Milwaukee, Ryobi, and Kobalt.....interesting bit is that all of them are brushless.
It will be a while before I do them, Im hoping to dyno them. But first I have to get the drill dyno up and running.
I have an issue with the Ryobi one. It's been working well but recently the trigger got hard to squeeze to the point where I thought I was squeezing a manual stapler. The M12 is underpowered. Doesn't sink staples as consistently as the Ryobi. And the Makita. I thought it'd be good but it literally crushes 8 of 10 staples in my experience. Doesn't sink them, just crushes them. My main stapler now is the m18 fuel narrow crown stapler. Not ideal for upholstery but at least it has power for days.
Thats weird on the Ryobi, interesting I didn't have any issues with the m12. I know Makita has a newer version they offer overseas in the UK/EU.
You should try if you can $ later on chain saw comparison Amazon eBay and homedepot more pro when cutting branches even in home demolition ( or course saw saw would kinda be a more relative tool ) but to see what are the more pro better on besides tool battery internal battery brands platform a small tear down and most important real time recharging time . Nice I was looking for a more newer cordless stapler review video !!
I do plan on doing a few chainsaw videos. The easy way I could figure is to compare them by bar lengths, even thought that really doesn't mean much. But yeah the big issue is having enough money to buy them all seeing they are not cheap.
So right now the plan is to compare all 10" Makita, Bauer, Ryobi brushed and brushless, Black and decker this year and hopefully do more next year.
@@Tools-Tested i was looking low key at also budget ones found out an ok great deal on Skil chain saw they have a 20v and a 40v one 5 yr warranty anyways on Amazon I got a super cheap deal it might help someone it’s brushless I believe the brand is natiddy mini chain saw for 99$ w a discount -20$ batteries included . There’s so much now days we’re even branded things are so expensive but yes warranty counts a lot . Hope you get that $ for this to take place .
How's the barn job, new tractor and that 30G doing? You do a good job on videos to the point honest opinion.
Its a work in progress lol, I just got done screwing the roof back down. I had a few sheets coming up on the back side so I decided I better tend to that first before getting back on the foundation work. So that was fun being up there on a ladder removing nails and putting screws in. I still have a week left of vacation time so hopefully I can use that before the weather turns and get back on the foundation.
Both have been doing good, I really wish I could just stay in the tractor cab all of the time lol. I have put a lot more hours on the 30G this year. How have yours been running?

Im thinking about splitting the channel and creating one just for the outdoor and equipment videos, I have been slacking lately on those.
But it will probably be the end of this year before that happens. I really might as well record it seeing I will be doing the work anyways.

If you come across them please let me know what brand they are, I was about to buy the Senco ones but someone already left a review that they don't work in the Makita.

I'm glad you said this, I have 1 M12 battery and like 15 18v Ridgid batteries (the Ridgid and Ryobi are more the same being 18v / 20v compared to the wimpy 12v of the Milwaukee) but no way I'm buying the M18 crown stapler for 249 bucks AND I'd have to buy a battery, anyway I'm glad you said this I'm going to go with the Ridgid considering I have a bunch of batteries but I also NEED the POWER of the 18v I think. I'll be going into some hard wood and a LOT of it tomorrow. Both are 99 right now at the home depot.. If I had more M12 batteries I would probably just get that, as I'd like to start building my M12 collection of tools - the ratchets really - but I'm financially strapped and really can't afford another 100bucks for 2 batteries.. I'm between the Ridgid (which i have 15 batteries for) and thie M12 (i have 1 2.0 battery) and man.. the Milwaukee is 99 same as the Ridgid right now at Home Depot. It's tough because I may need to grab some red batteries, but I've got a job tomorrow and really want a good stapler for it. Insulating a shed with the sheet stuff and it's going to be a LOT of stapling.. Darn what to do what to do.. I have a LOT of Ridgid 18v tools but that Milwaukee being so light.. rrr.. I only have 1 battery though.. I know I'll need another one at least, they've got the 4.0 and a 2.0 for 74 dollars but now I'm looking at 200 instead of 100 bucks.. ugh
edit: after reading all the comments here I've decided to go with the Ridgid as it's got more power (to some here's opinion's at least) and I'll need a strong stapler. If it's garbage, I'll return it!
Yep you can always return it, but honestly probably that’s the better choice seeing u already have so many batteries for Ridgid.
@@Tools-Tested thanks for the reply, i grabbed the Ridgid stapler last night for $99, i put a 2.0ah battery in and ran 1200 staples all day today. Battery only went down 1 bar and the stapler performed perfectly. I am not returning it, it was well worth the price of admission! The thought of 1200 staples with the old metal T-50 Arrow stapler in the toolbox, yikes!!
@@anthonyblacker8471 Nice! Lol yeah the cordless stapler is awesome just like the caulk gun. I don’t think I’m ever going to pull the arrow stapler out again.
@@Tools-Tested I purchased the caulk gun 2 years ago when the side window in my Honda Odyssey shattered and was quoted a ridiculous amount to have it replaced. I did it for half the cost - buying real Honda replacement glass, the 3m adhesive AND the Ridgid caulk gun! Using it for caulk takes some practice - it almost pulses as it squeezes, but with a little time it's become a good to own tool! Thanks again for the reply, I appreciate it!!
So basically 4 TTI staplers and 2 others, really Dewalt doesn't have an option?
Yep that's right, I was as shocked as you are, but I could not find a Dewalt.
I have had 2 Milwaukee staples in a row they work great for a few month then they miss fire more and more until they waste so many staples they are not worth using! I am very disappointed with this Milwaukee tool! Wish I could find a staple that would work for longer than a few month!
Interesting thanks for the info, hopefully mine doesn’t suffer the same fate. That’s the one I ended up keeping, that being said it’s not used every day. Probably in your case Makita might be the best choice, they have a new version out I haven’t tested yet.
Would you suggest this kind of stapler or 18 ga crown stapler for hardware cloth for garden i will cover edges with thin wood as well
I have stapled hardware cloth and it seemed to hold fine, probably be ok if your adding wood also around the edges.
