All the emotion is in the moment. Rationally I know Spider-Man is coming back. That doesn't make the moment of any less sad when Peter disintegrates in Tony's arms.
Its about the journey. not the destination.
Making Thanos very much the protagonist of Infinity War is what makes it acceptable to end "half of a movie" that way. Thanos gets what he wants, his arc is over. The only reason we feel like it's half a movie is because we know that the Avengers need to save the day, good has to prevail. But evil's arc was so successful and so beautifully crafted that it stands as a fantastic movie on its own.

I mean love it or hate it, what the MCU has created is damn impressive
True! Something like this will probably never happen again. Eventually the MCU will either go away or just lessen in presence and I hope people don't shit on it at that point because what it has done can't be denied
Meanwhile every studio is struggling to mimic them LOL
L
Infinity War is my favorite but Winter Soldier is right there. My favorite line in the MCU is, "I'm with you to the end of the line."
Also, I don't need more of Thanos' backstory. He wanted to save his planet but didn't follow through and his planet died out. Now he has the will to do it for everyone else since he knows they won't do it for themselves just like he failed to.
While there are few underwhelming movies, the MCU has been consistently good and appeals to most everyone. While some people will complain its too 'safe', safe is what the majority of people want, hence why its safe. The MCU to me has single handedly revived the theater experience, in an era where Netflix and streaming services are king. Its an easy excuse to get together with friends or family and go to the movies, which are expensive these days.
I've never stopped going to the movies. If they saved the movie-going experience for you I'd recommend watching the Oscar nominated movies, you'll feel emotions from those movies instead of the mind numbing stuff the MCU produces
Alex Q i prefer to watch oscar bait movies on blu ray in the comfort of my home you probably get the same experience as when seeing them in theatre but movies like marvels are much more enjoyable in theatre iMax than when you watch them at home.
I agree, I'm not sure why people act like the MCU movies are absolute masterpieces. They are good films, but by no means masterpieces. Most of it is so over acted it's insane.
People tend to forget that the Russos made 3 incredible movies in the MCU, but those exact 3 were also written by the same two guys: Markus and McFeely. In all these 3 you see the exact thing that James and Lawrence were pointing out about nailing all the character's character in a few lines. And that is due to a flawless script!
What I'm saying is that when you give credit to the Russos (who did an amazing job, obviously) you can't disregard the writters outstanding work. That said, I still think that Winter Soldier is the best movie in the MCU.
The mcu will always be unique where each movie or even tv series will be tied to the larger picture of each phase. Feige is such a Mastermind in movies no other studio can pull the same breadth and width the mcu can do.
*Not even the ducu*
Emmanuel Alejandro Marvel is garbage compared to DC.
gr8 b8 m8 r8 it 8/8
Nolan Batman series doesn't count. Can't really think of another decent DC film. Unlucky.
EarrGasmm Wonder woman, BvS, Constantine and The Watchmen are great movies (i havnt seen Justice League yet) Suicide Squad is the only DC movie i didnt care for.
FtL Battusai BvS is great movie? 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Rahul quiet again I see
It's quite refreshing to hear them all talking on positive points, rather than playing off 'conflict' between their opinions.
Perfectly balanced.
Justin Y. As all things should be!
No.
Black Mark Twain r/unexpectedThanos
you people do realize that likes give you nothing, right.
alt white been here a long time. Might as well let it be
Fuck I really like Lawrence when he's relaxed and posed like that. I always find that he can articulate his thoughts well, and I can relate to him even more so than on the gameplays. Cool guy
And I always enjoy when the 4 core members (minus Don) are in the same video
They finally hired alanna. Congrats to her 🎊
*Alanah
*Al-ou-et-khine
Who?
Wow they actually hired Alanah 😲 that’s awesome.
Yeah I caught that too
She announced it on her channel a week or so ago :)
They announced it at RTX
Some of us don't follow her channel and didn't watch the livestream for RTX.
No worries. All the RTX videos are archived on the livestream website if anybody wanted to watch them - I strongly recommend On the Spot for a stellar performance from Jon Smitty
Even the mcu’s worst movies still aren’t bad, say what you want about iron 3 or Thor 1/2 there still ok compared to stuff like DC and some of the Garbo Xmen movies
I'd watch Xmen: First Class before any MCU movie and there's a lot more shitty ones than just those two
I honestly like Ironman 3
Yeah. Xmen First Class was awesome in my opinion
Thor is one of my favourite movies of the MCU, each to his own :P
Iron Man 3 is the best Iron Man movie and in the upper end of the MCU in general.
Regarding what James said around 7:15 , that was basically true for me. I had basically just saw the Guardians of the Galaxy movies before Infinity War, and when I saw it, I liked it a lot. I had to watch it again on a flight back home yesterday, now that I really know who everyone really is and know more of the storyline.
36:37 That's not the reason. As Taika explained, they filmed the NY fight first. However, when Hopkins arrived to film his scenes, having Odin being a Hobo and dying in a NY back-alley just didn't look right and felt like it was being disrespectful to Odin's character, so he decided to re-shoot the whole sequence with Norway as a setting and ergo had to re-locate the first fight with Hela there as well.
I know some people think we give Marvel Studios too much credit, but we actually don't give him enough...
Also my top five MCU films:
Avengers: Infinity War
Captain America: Winter Soldier
Thor: Ragnarok
Captain America: Civil War
Spider-Man: Homecoming
My top5:
1. Avengers: Infinity War
2. Thor: Ragnarok
3. Black Panther
4. Captain America: Civil War
5. Doctor Strange
I was with you until i saw homecoming. That movie was an actual joke. The weakest movie aside from Iron man 3 in my opinion.
if you think iron man3 is top 5 marvel then youre actually insane
Civil war was trash. They were fighting over nothing
Favorite MCU Movies:
1. Iron Man
2. Avengers: Infinity War
3. Thor: Ragnarok
4. Captain America: Civil War
5. Black Panther
In literature, a foil is a character that shows qualities that are in contrast with the qualities of another character. The objective is to highlight the traits of the other character. The term foil, though generally being applied to a contrasting character, may also be used for any comparison that is drawn to portray a difference between two things.
Mirrors are known garbage. We can see the protagonist in the foil, but as it is a foil and not a mirror, it's all jagged, blurred, and distorted.
At the end of the video.
Adam: What does Iron Man always say?
Lawrence: Love you
Bruce is wearing a Mystery Science theater "3000" shirt.
I LOVE YOU 3000.
Wow. So meta. It's like they were foreshadowing the Iron Man ending
I stopped watching all trailers a few years ago and have found so much more enjoyment and excitement in movies than ever before. Not knowing anything brings so much more suspense for films and I would recommend it to everyone. The few friends that took me up on this idea have all been so surprised how much it does to better their movie experience
Rob (ComicsExplained) had a great x-men merger theory. X keeps mutants out of the mind of the collective masses. That'd be a good reasoning to bring them into the fold imo
Hulk and Thanos better fight again in Avengers 4.
Banner and Hulk's minds merge and Professor Hulk will wield the Infinity Gauntlet Tony Stark creates and battle Thanos. Cap will sacrifice himself fighting Thanos while wielding Mjölnir which exists in another point in time.
.
Cole you kidding me hills character arc is almost complete bout to get professor hulk 10/10
Matthew Zertooch honestly I'd believe it
;)
I'm really hoping they give us Banner fighting to get the Hulk to come back out and cause some damage.
Two of my friends hadn't seen all the movies and one of them hadn't seen any of them but I made them go with me to watch Infinity War and they enjoyed it. The friend who hadn't seen a single Marvel movie had me make her a list of all of the movies in chronological order so that she could watch them and, no lie, he finished watching all of the movies within the month and now she's completely caught up with all the MCU films and Agents of SHIELD.
I was about 15 when I first watched the Terminator movies because I was a hug chicken as a kid. I never watched the trailers and didn't know the plots, watched 1 and 2 rigt after. MAN the reveals of Arnold being good was the best plot twist EVER! M Night eat your heart out!
Elyse Williams for Captain Marvel
I've seen the 1st Guardians of the Galaxy pretty much.
Still enjoyed Infinity War, still knew who everyone was and what was going on. Was just a really good fun enjoyable film
It literally gets better every time I watch it
I really do enjoy when you four are together in a video, especially podcast related episodes. You guys explained how you like to change up the cast .to get different options and views on the show and so I appreciate it more when you all finally make it on together. Cheers
I just finished my MCU marathon last night, after being dared to watch them all (I've been outspoken as a critic of these blockbuster marvel movies).
I didn't enjoy many to begin with, I'd say the first 2 Thors and the second 2 Ironman movies were pretty bad. But the last handful of movies have all been brilliant. In particular Civil War was the first great one, with Infinity War actually moving me to tears by the end of it.
Spider-Man has been amazing in all (three?) movies he's in. Tom Holland is a real talent and I love seeing his character grow.
What about Adam Warlock?? They didn’t bring that up with the soul stone..
"So was Jar Jar and we all fell in love with him"
My new favorite thing Lawrence has ever said.
You only need to watch Four movies in the MCU to get Infinity War.
1. Avengers (first Avenging)
2. Guardians of the Galaxy (Mix tape)
3. Captain America: Civil War (Cap V. Iron Man)
Edit. 4. Thor Ragnorok (friends from work)
Avengers is pretty disposable. The Iron Man and Cap origins are both more important as are Iron Man 3, Age of Ultron and Winter Soldier.
James Bell There is very little in that movie that establishes aspects of Thors character for IW. It's a good movie so you might as well watch it, but the exposition in IW is enough.
For Recreational Use Only
Not Really, I'm going for streamlined plot with character depth in my picks. You don't really need the origins of the characters as they've never really fully interacted with one another before, second each characters backstory is alluded to in someway by the dialog. Third, Fury gives brief expository dialog as to what the Avengers Initiative was suppose to be and you have key character interaction between the core avengers, plus they save the World from Thanos' first invasion attempt. Guardians Explains Thanos and the infinity gems. Finally, Civil War gives just enough Expository dialog for people to understand Some shit's gone down because of their involvement and not for the better, you have Bucky, Black Panther, Spider-Man and Ant man (because both Ant man movies are just filler) introduced for the first time and why Bucky matters (in fact I'd go so far as to say it makes Civil War a better viewing if you didn't know who Bucky was leading into it). Civil War shows the state of the world and why the team is broken up. The only movie I'd probably add is Ragnorok, for Hulk and Thor.
Edit: Ironman 3 is redundant if you're going for the paranoia angle for Tony as Ultron already covers it *heavily* . Not to mention Ironman 3 itself being very disposable, seeing as how he gives up being Ironman only to *come back* as Ironman in Ultron. Age of Ultron doesn't really have anything of consequence besides Vision and you get *way* more character depth from both Civil War and Infinity War. ✌
For Recreational Use Only
Ragnorok helps to recontextualize Thors relationship with Loki. It also gives you an answer for where his Hammer has gone as well as why these two characters weren't in Civil War and Why Bruce has an awkward moment with Natasha. Not to mention a more meaningful impact at the destruction of Half his people.
bbr64 bbr64 You don't need the gems to be explained in a separate movie like Guardians when IW goes out of it's way to repeatedly explain how the gauntlet works and why they need to stop Thanos. If a Guardians movie is in there at all, I'd expect it to be 2 because it gives more background for Starlord, Gammorah and Nebula (including family dynamics which is important since it's the main reason the Avengers end up failing at all).
Tony's guilt complex, his prepper attitude and the consequences of those things start in Iron Man 1 and are developed in 3 and Age of Ultron - coming to a head in Civil War. You need that history to get anything out of what he is doing in IW. They reestablish those things with a few lines of dialogue in the beginning of the movie, but that is far inferior to actually watching those things play out. Not to mention the fact that Tony doesn't have a complete arc in IW, so if you go in without seeing those other movies, it's all set up with no payoff.
I have just endless praise for this movie. I'd watched probably only three Marvel movies but was still enamoured while watching this movie. Thanos' actor and animators did a freakin' fantastic job, so the audience could root for his character and not his goal, while still wanting the good guys to win.
Plus, I am not sure if they'd have to reverse the deaths of everyone, since they are capable of introducing a lot more characters. New movies of spiderman or whatever can just be alternative reality or universe stuff, right?
35:20 They did this with Ragnarok too. Thor had both his eyes in the trailer in some parts after he was blinded. It made seeing him get blinded that much more shocking(pun intended).
I like Adams outlook. I think they CAN make a single movie with all of these characters in it. The X-men and Deadpool and the Fantastic Four and the Avengers ALL in one universe. They can do it.
"feels good to like stuff" Great Quote.
Glad they had the MCU Supercut video in the corner. I've seen it so many times I could tell right away.
I will watch James talk about movies for days
The over arching message is exactly that, we have to remember that Stark is still the compromiser, he hasnt changed since civil war, it's at the end of this film we see how stark realises only as Spiderman disappears in his arms that actually he's wrong and now it's the cap and Stark who have to get together and finish it and they will introduce captian marvel as part of that. Thanos is the focus of this film but his narrative takes a back seat.
I had to rewind when Bruce said "ill sorta pull all the way out" to make sure Lawrence chuckled
I think the hesitation Thanos was talking about was not killing Gamora. He would of killed her but instead he hesitated and saved her, but this time he’s not going to hesitate to kill her
My thought with bringing X-men in the universe: They somehow reset everything that Thanos did in Avengers 3, but it's not a perfect 1:1 fix, so some things have changed or have been added, like the X-men and FF
47:30 oh my god Lawrence called it
I love how Rahul is in every video of funhaus now! :) Remember all those comments that said stuff like Bring Back Rahul! Now he is with us forever :D
Was at a live WWE event last night and when I saw Braun Strowman I realized he looks exactly like Bruce.
George Stephenson Bruce is Braun at 18
I feel like Tony will be very important in stopping Thanos. Because Dr. Strange said he saw one future where they won. And he deliberately gave up his stone to save Tony when earlier he said he would choose the stone over him.
This is my first funhaus podcast. I did not know Adam talked so much.I always like him because he need the least attention.
Before i start the video.
Yes. They did beautifully with the time they had and the amount of characters. Wonderful and amazing job done.
It's in my top three marvel movies so I'd say it's pretty good.
I don't watch trailers, ever. When I watched Thor: Ragnarok, I genuinely didn't know Hulk was in it, and when he smashed through that wall, I lost my shit, it was the highlight of the film for me.
Some please tell me where I can get the shirt Adam's wearing
On the next movie podcast can you talk about the possibility of Idris Elba being the next bond?
Wasn't he supposed to play the next Batman already?
2nd3rd1st *Blackman
It's probably more of an argument that he is too old now tbh.
2nd3rd1st They probably won’t because people would flip out calling a black guy “the dark knight” 😂
Brantius Riximium or if a person of color is the best actor for the part. James Bond isn't some historical figure, its a movie character.
Translating a massive cartoon, into the real world was done perfectly in Infinity War, Thanos choking people doesn't have the same fake look as Steppenwulf choking people. DC just made it look like they were on some kind of harness, or are standing on a ledge at an angle. If he's holding you by the neck, there is no reason for your spine to be curling away, their legs going back, if anything, they should have been reaching their legs towards him, trying to reduce the pressure on their throats by stepping on him.
On the subject of Skrulls, I totally think War Machine is a Skrull.
In Iron Man 2 Rhodey confronts Tony with an Iron Man suit and later takes it to a nearby military base. But he flew out at night and arrived late morning/midday, sparking theory about what took so long.
I think he went and studied Tony's technology and reported it back to Skrull HQ.
But hey, just a theory.
Syphilis
I thought it was 'sipowits'
A big theme of the movie involved whether or not a hero is capable sacrificing not themselves, something we know they all would do in a moment, but sacrificing someone else, particularly a loved one, for the greater good. Thanos is the only one who doesn't hesitate to do so in the movie.
SpencerLee97 Perfectly put.
🖒😁👍
IW was such a great film. I saw it four times in theatres and I am still looking forward to viewing it on 4K HDR home video!
Is Adams shirt from Kingdom Hearts 2?
22:54 I love their discussions. At this timestamp, you can notice that Funhaus doesn't have a paid UA-cam account. Why? They stream trailers for their vids all the time.
I havent seen this yet but thank god they made this.
You guys should really reach out to PowerfulJRE and see if you could do an update in gaming? An hour chat or something may be good to get catch some of that wave?
When I think climax that fits the story I immediately think of Nickelodeon's Avatar, cause the buildup of all 3 seasons come to exactly what you're hoping for in that final battle.
Hell yeah Captain Marvel podcast!!
This got me thinking will the Captain Marvel sequel be Captain Marvel Civil War II?
So a disclaimer - I've always enjoyed Marvel movies, even the (looking back) shitty Toby Spidey films so long ago.
I watched Infinity War (Part 1) for the first time the other night, I set everything up and really committed to a good viewing experience. Now, because I use the internet, I knew the whole "snap" thing was coming, in saying that, I've never been so invested in a superhero movie when I knew such a big event was coming.
I couldn't take my eyes off the screen for the full runtime, which almost never happens when I'm viewing a movie at home. I'm genuinely impressed how well the whole MCU thing has come together and not felt like a cash grab (even though it is). Best superhero movie I've ever seen, but I'm not sure what the viewing experience would be like for someone that hadn't been through the full 16+ year journey, that's what they need to answer in coming years I think.
Cornbeee Cash grab implies being made solely for profit. Also, 16+ years? What? It's been 10.
Spiderman 1 and 2 are both better than Infinity War.
Cornbeee spider man 1 and 2 are so fucking good , how dare you
@ 33:40 - IMHO, Thor Ragnarok would've been infinitely better had you not known that Hulk was going to be in it. The payoff of that scene was supposed to be genuine, actual joy and surprise at seeing Hulk again, and then him being a main character would've been such a treat as well. In that vein, the trailer legitimately screwed up the narrative flow of the movie, as the audience all knew that the Hulk was going to eventually appear. That being said, Thor movies tended to do not as well as their MCU counterparts, and I can honestly say that knowing the Hulk was going to be in it is what brought me to see the movie while I skipped the theatrical releases of the first two, so they knew what they were doing from a dollar standpoint. Hulk being revealed early wasn't going to get anyone to not see it, but Hulk not being revealed likely would've depressed the box office performance.
Man james was on point in this video good job 👌
I love how Thanos only really kills when Necessary if you look at the movie he never really goes to try and kill someone because he can, only when he needs something even then after he gets it he doesn’t kill them like Tony Stark after Dr strange gave him the time stone
Uhhhhhh... did you..... watch the movie?
James laughing at Adam’s write up at 2:30
If anybody can bridge the gap between the two aesthetically different worlds of Avengers and X-Men, its Doctor Strange. The whole talk of alternate realities makes sense for it.
My favorite movie podcast so far
I literally just watched your infinity war review for the first time right before you uploaded this xD
Great podcast guys. Keep up the great work!
I've viewed it thrice now. There are def some cheesy bits but ultimately it remains incredibly entertaining and easily the most rewatchable mcu film yet.
For anyone who's curious sibilance is the whistly high pitched noise that you sometimes get through the microphone when people make the "s" sound.
Good to see Rahul in another Funhaus video.
Hey Funhaus, you guys made another excellent podcast! Thank you.
It made me think about what happens if and when the X-Men join the MCU with the Avengers, etc. Especially if they continue to have Wolverine infused with adamantium metal on his bones OR if they will fuse Wolverine with vibrainium metal moving forward, to keep in line with the current MCU and have Wolverine be able to contend with characters such as Black Panther, Captain America (characters who use vibrainium ~ which is the strongest metal on earth in the MCU), etc... though, most likely, after Avengers 4 and moving forward, the MCU will be a very different place.
Also, what do you think, in regards, if John Krasinski and Emily Blunt are cast as Reed Richards and Sue Storm, if they do a Fantastic Four movie in the MCU?
The issue with the MCU: announcing movies so far in advance.
Remember the trailer to Avengers 2? It looked and felt like someone was going to bite the dust or at the very least we were uneasy about it going in.....then Cap, Thor, and whatever else right after was announced prior to Avengers 2 hitting screens
Is MCU Exchange credited for the video? Because they deserve credit, it's a good video.
I laughed at the end of infinity war
To clarify before I get attacked by fans I liked it i was laughing at the people freaking out
Best episode yet. Keep it up guys.
Lawrence likes homecoming? YESSSSSS
Being the ant-man is an absolute compliment xD
Avengers 4 is gonna make our heroes the villain, I mean what else is Thanos gonna do? his objective is complete, Avengers 4 is gonna be like Don't Breathe, men and women in tights disturbing an old man who's living a quiet and peaceful life.
Top 10 MCU films for ME (not necessarily the best overall):
1) Captain America: Civil War
2) Guardians of the Galaxy
3) Iron Man
4) The Avengers
5) Black Panther
6) Spider-Man: Homecoming
7) Thor: Ragnarok
8) Captain America: Winter Soldier
9) Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2
10) Ant-Man
HM: Doctor Strange or Infinity War.
The MCU did basicly did everything great or better than great and managed to make the general audience invested in characters like: Doctor strange and Thanos. Characters that the general audience didn't know about before these movies.
I cried at the end
I blame it on the onions for me
Oh Infinity War or FilmHaus? Because, either way, same.
SupaPixelGirl I honestly wish they kill the entire avengers instead of sappy writing.
They would obviously return in Avengers 4 with the help of Antman.
How , you seriously thought they would all be dead forever?
If I were younger I probably would have. But knowing how often heroes die and come back in the comics, on top of there being Avengers4 next year, on top of already having confirmation of Spiderman sequels etc, it's hard to believe they wont figure out some bullshit to revive everyone and live happily ever after.
The huge thing you missed about wolverine is his regenerative power, he can take huge amounts of damage, much more powerful than captain America
I'm totally fine with every Film Haus just being a roundtable MCU discussion.
lol lawrence bringing up the fact wolverine is just a man with claws .. did you forget that black widow and clint are just talented humans with no powers at all ? and James Chris Evans is out because he dies in I assume the next CA movie and Sebastian takes up the CA mantle
You sure showed them
Richie5903 but wolverine isn’t a man with claws he’s a mutant.
Correction: Her ass is a power:)
Hawkeye has more in line with super powers than Widow does. Widow is just a spy. Hawkeye never misses.
doesn’t widow become enhanced?
I feel that there is often confusion between what is a good film and what is an enjoyable film if that makes sense. For me I really enjoyed all the MCU, but I understand that is partly down to being a fan of the characters/universe but also that there were both some weak and some strong films.
I feel that alot of the MCU are films that work on their own, but the franchise as a whole has been an incredible accomplishment in film-making.
Personally I feel that if I enojoyed a film that it is a good film, there's definetly some outliers based on my own preferences but I think that whether you enjoyed a film or not is a good place to start when discussing if a film/films are good or not- or mediocre, excellent, etc.
"You know me, James, there's nothing I love more than a climax"
You laugh, you cried. You love, you loss. You cheered, you booed.
Infinity War is an achievement in filmmaking and deserves its recognition.
The Russo Brothers did the impossible
TheGrimStride i did none of those and I have watched every marvel movie
TKK none of the movies made you laugh? At all?
What is the video they have running in the corner from the beginning called? I assume it is a youtube mashup for sorts?
What is that trailer playing in the corner and where can I see that? All avengers related movies lined up.
Love these talks from the crew
Also I'm going onto a Limb and calling it now. The 6 stones didn't remove half the galaxy. It created entire new galaxy where half the population was transported to.
I enjoyed this film and even got super excited to see how the next one concludes based on seeing who survived. Unfortunately I made the mistake of sticking around for the mid credits stinger...
Evan Garbe Why is that unfortunate?
Zing Zaber I thought the captain marvel tease was weak and I have reservations about her characters inception in the mcu.
Evan Garbe We haven't seen her yet and seeing Fury and Hill fade as chaos ensues wasn't awesome?
I did like the juxtaposition of showing the ensuing chaos from a civilian point of view. People running around, losing their minds because they have no context to what's happening. I'm not super familiar with Agent Hill thb. One of my movie sins is I still haven't seen winter solider (not for any particular reason, just haven't gotten to it yet) and I only mention this because I heard she has a larger part in that movie than any of the others. Nick Fury's last line was subversive in a good way. I also want to reserve judgment on Brie Larson as Carol Danvers till more stuff comes out. With all that said, Nick booting up some Captain Marvel app on his phone just fell flat for me.
Evan Garbe Winter Soldier is imo the best Marvel movie to date. If you wanna get a feel for Hill's character I also recommend the "Agents of SHIELD" TV show and "Age of Ultron". Finally, that wasn't a phone, we have no idea what that device is or what it does (we'll probably find out in Captain Marvel)
Me and the missues took our mum's to see it, lol they were both Mardy afterwards, saying they can't end it like that. Super upset 😂👍
