Have you actually had any of these grow? I was all excited to be making seed balls, or bombs, with my school students and then I saw an article by some gardener saying that it was a horrible idea because as soon as the seeds get wet, they start to germinate, and then they dry up and die. She claims they will never grow. :-(
I have not used any where I could monitor them. The famous farmer Masanobu Fukuoka used them to seed his no till farm in Japan to get multiple crops per year. This would be a good experiment/video :)I do think the way I do it does not provide enough moisture for germination, and the balls are dried fairly quickly. I have seen the smashed paper ones that might be wet enough for that.
We had a go about 4 days back and we are going to put them out today as the roots and seedlings are already trying to bust out, my little girl is very impressed
great idea with the kitty litter.

Hello! Is there a rule as to how big or small they should be?
No hard and fast rules, just big enough to contain your seeds and small enough to throw with one hand.
