This was an incredible experience to be able to explore this place. Thanks to our Krewe Du Exploration for joining me, their links are in the description.
how were you able to get permission to go in?
Dude, I stood outside that abandoned hospital and thought it looked so scary and dilapidated - I always wanted to see the inside! Thank you NOLADEEJ!!!
Yeah it's one I've always wanted to check out, too!
That woman was crazy to walk around with no shoes on..I can't believe anyone would walk around on that mess with just socks on her feet..Please be safe...Thank you for sharing ...
Ikr
I'm pretty sure that was a cracked/meth head. May have been living in that room with the swing.
Drugs do crazy things to people.
That's what you call a damn drug addict trying to find a place to hide and shoot up
I was born in that very hospital in 1994. When I got older I found out it closed and looking at it now is shocking.
Thank you for sharing this. I have wondered since Katrina what the inside of this place looked like. I had always known that the basement was flooded but had no idea that there was a sub basement that is STILL flooded. Yikes. Creepy asf to still have standing water from Katrina. 😳😳😳
Yeah it was wild to find that!
It’s like that in Charity too!
Went there last weekend at night , that place is insane at night . We still don't know if it was ghosts or other people we kept hearing , but the whole time we heard other footsteps and whispers , but we never saw other flash lights .
Wow! Yeah a night explore there would be cool!
The woman with no shoes... That Was FREAKY, LMBO
Wow! Seeing all the destruction 15 years later is still very upsetting. Thanks for another very interesting video Deej. Have a fantastic day my friend!
Yeah it's really sad how it has ended up. They really need to take this down and do something with the property.
@@NOLADEEJ I agree. There's no way to save the building. Taking it down and using the property for something new would be the best thing to do.
There’s definitely an alligator or something living down in that flooded sub basement Lol 🐊
This is Old Mercy hospital! I worked as a new nurse in 2014 in the elderly home next door. I remember looking out the windows into the hospitals upper floors. Everything was left as it was that day. Patient charts, equipment, and books left everywhere…..Erie
Yeah it’s wild what all was left there. I believe it’s been gutted recently though
got my apendix out there when it was mercy hospital. was about 10 yrs old in 1972
Back in 2015 I use to live in there for several months. I lived on the third floor. If you went up a certain stair well and turned to the left to double doors you woud walk on the balcony . To the right before the doors tho was a room with chairs and couches and some old vending machines. That was my room.
I noticed there was some areas that were charred . That was a fire area. That area caught fire because they didn't turn off all the electricity causing sparks to catch the walls on fire.
There was under 20 people that died there from what I remember. I would feel their energy when I was staying there.
It was a sad place to be. Wish I could see it again in person but I don't wanna take trains to Nola anymore.
what was your story? I'm so interested in knowing why you stayed there and what you saw and heard.
Hey there my friend, I’m sorry I just saw this comment. That’s very interesting, I’d like to hear more about it. I just subscribed to your channel.
Would be interesting to see the hospital the way it was before Katrina!
My condolences to those who died there!
Holy smokes, I would NOT have gone in there, let alone into that cesspool of a recently-drained basement, without some kind of breathing protection from all the potential mold (something more substantial than our regular post-COVID-era masks, that is). Y'all are certainly braver than me on that front!
Brave is one word for it 😂
Thank you so much for this video!
I visit New Orleans often and have started diving into its deep history, you have a lot of interesting content that I have gone to see in person myself..like City Park and Eiffle! Thank you continuing to share New Orleans unique history.
Last year I stayed at an AirBnb in Mid-City and biked by Lindy Boggs completely unaware of its history, needless to say I fell down a rabbit hole that night. Several post I came across confuse the Memorial story with Lindy Boggs. I wish I could’ve been apart of this expedition with you guys!
Would love to see the inside of Big Charity and Luling Mansion! That would be epic!
Thank you!! Yeah I'd love to see the inside of those places myself!
On my last trip to New Orleans I heard rumors of places that were still flooded from Hurricane Katrina. I didn’t believe it and had to see for myself. That’s amazing that it was actually true.
Yeah at the time we filmed this they had apparently just pumped out the water
@@NOLADEEJ Did you guys ever look at the names on the lockers and such? The fact we’re seeing old binders, papers, hospital documents, floppy disks and VHS tapes etc. is amazing. A time capsule of 2005.
@@bcarreon6409 oh definitely! Most were hard to read though because of the water damage
Mercy Hospital had some scary spots even before Katrina. I went there also my kids.Lived on North Jeff Davis. At night it was spooky as it had been upgraded and alot of spirits in and around the ER. Thanks for this! This was just 😥 sad.
It was pretty crazy in there!
@@NOLADEEJ i also wanted to tell you there was many a time I walked up to the hospital the same way you did. For some reason I hated going in the front of it. I think it took longer to get to the ER. If ever you notice at the front you still had to walk up/down the driveway. Also, after some of the visits we went to Liuzzas. Is it still there?
Wow!! What incredible destruction. Really a sad situation. Thanks to all of you for taking us along on the journey. Be safe....great work.
Yeah it is sad to see it in the state it's in
Deej this was an incredible video. Absolutely awesome exploring with our team. Excellent style of editing too btw.
Thank you!! 😊
There were alot of words that came to mind when wanting to express this particular explore with all of us. But this was the short handed version. Stay doing the amazing work you do and bringing proper information to people through your videos. 💥💙💥
This video is wonderful thank you for sharing your visit and the fabulous information about this abandoned hospital 👍🏻
Thank you!
It was a really beautiful hospital until Katrina. Sad no company wanted to fix it back up. Most of the equipment was moved to Kenner Regional Medical Center after Katrina. I remember you had to wear that space looking suit to go in. The lady is probably homeless and/or drugs sadly. I was born at Mercy Hospital too.
I was wondering what happened to all the equipment. Yeah it was pretty gnarly inside this place.
I had heard that the grocery store was trying to buy that area from
Bienville to Carrollton. Wanted to expand and Yada Yada Yada. They never could get it together so there that block sits undeveloped. The only part they didn't have was the American Can Co. and that was condominiums. How are they faring out?
@@cb142 American Can Co is doing fine. They are high end condos. Seems like it was a good choice for the property
@@care4557 thanks
The crematorium was wild...!!!!! It looked like they never cleaned it appropriately. 😢😢
Yeah it was eerie to be in there!!
@@NOLADEEJ Brave..!!!
I thought charity was in rough shape, but dam!
I was born at this hospital in 1975 when it was called Mercy Hospital.
There were some remnants of Mercy still inside
@@NOLADEEJ Yeah I think I actually saw some of that in the video on the floor there was an old orange Mercy Hospital employee badge on the floor. I also noticed the two clocks that were hanging on the wall were stopped at exactly 3:40; I thought that was pretty wild!
Hello NOLADEEJ. My wife and I finally made it home and had a libation to unwind from the roaming. Ran into some travel delay as the Plaquemine's Tunnel was closed. Not sure what happened there. Well, finally got to watch the video. Amazing exploration. Creepy in many parts. When you got to the hammock part it was sad to see the remains in the area. The crematorium was surprising to me. Shame the the sub basement was still under water. Would have been interesting to see what it would have revealed. Thanks for shooting this tour. As always, be careful and stay safe my friend.
Thank you! Yeah that place was very creepy in some areas, especially the basement. I would love to see what's under that water in the sub basement
My mother had surgery there a month or so before katrina its crazy to think how that place is that bad. And yes that was a gym my mother was going to have physical therapy there.
Oh wow!! Yeah it was fascinating to see the state it's in now.
You should have respirators on. The black mold is ridiculous.
Ugh! I would have run when I heard the hissing! It’s amazing what y’all find in these explores. 😱Jenn
Yeah the hissing wasn't something I was keen to stick around for, lol!!
I went to this hospital back in 98 when I was sick I lived right up the block from there it's sad how bad it looks now
Yeah it's a shame it's just sitting there. Beautiful place!
All man I've always wanted to see the inside of this place, so creepy but exciting as hell, thanks man
Thanks for checking out the video! It was so cool inside there!
The sign says “Mergency” 🥴 You guys are awesome!!!! Thanks for letting us explore with you!
Place looks creepy, Thanks for sharing!
It was very creepy!
I work at the nursing home next door .they are doing construction on the building now.always wanted to know what it looks like from the inside. Thanks for the video tour
I explored this place with my friends I would recommend going during the day cause at night it’s pretty scary
Enjoyed the video!!
Thank you!!
Crazy exploration.. Thanks!
It was pretty awesome!
Looks like the basement clock stopped around 3:35… is that around the time flooding began or did power go out due to wind damage? So surreal to watch this. Brings me back to 2005 and the eeriness of events.
I believe that's when the water came into the basement. The building was running off a generator after the storm but the generator was in the basement. As soon as it flooded, no power at all.
Awesome!
I had a couple of surgeries at Mercy Hospital. We use to live around Grand Route St. John.
Oh wow! I had never been there when it was open
Are you able to film the old Charity hospital?
Hello from uk came across your channel today thankyou so much for showing us around just look so sad rip to all those people and animals that perished god bless all those that survived I truly hope you all managed to rebuild your lives ❤🙏
Thank you! We’re getting there. People are still dealing with issues from 20 years ago
@@NOLADEEJ can truly imagine probably ptsd are people still in fema trailers also wonder if someone could set up go fund me and design some T-shirts or bracelet
yay do more abandoned videos !
I have some more epic ones coming soon 😊
Who else is here cause they watched Mr ballen? Evidently on Reddit three teenagers exploded the building and actually went into the flooded sub basement and something was in there that chased them out
The building wasn’t exploded. It’s currently being torn down though. There have been sightings of a gator in the basement though!
@@NOLADEEJ ohhh ok makes sense I was watching Mr ballen and it made me curious as to what it was not gonna lie I thought it was a gator as well
Also I meant to say explored the building not exploded lol I gotta fix it
Oh wow this looks like an awesome location
One of my favorites!
So you did explore it! Now I don't have to!
I was born there when it was Mercy Hospital back in 1972
Probably the most grungy basement I saw.
Hey where’s the alligator mr. Ballen talked about lol?
Haha we did hear hissing down in the basement… didn’t stick around to see what it was
I enjoyed the wonderful video. Thank you for sharing the video. Have a good day ..
Thanks so much!
I just realized looking at the address that I was a patient in this hospital around 1969 1972 my plastic surgeon's office was right across the street
Oh wow!
What did u get done?
@@essteex4656 I had a bone graft for done in the roof of my mouth because I was born with a cleft lip
I’m excited for this one! It’s Shrinerdawg by the way.
Thanks dude!
No problem my friend!
I don't understand why humans feel the need to vandalize places. It's a damn shame. Very cool video btw
I live 30 mins away me and my friends go explore it all the time.that place is big. Been lost a few times lmao
I love it there!
What a beauty!
It was an amazing place!!
@@NOLADEEJ I wanna go!
@@KitschyTravels Well whenever you make it down here, let's go!
Dislike is from whatever was hissing in the basement.
Hah!
My great grandfather was in that hospital during Katrina and he was on dateline
Oh wow! I think i watched that dateline episode
Nloa this is a great video
Hardcore Urbex @its best 💕
Bet it smells nice 👍
Ssssssrrrrrrrrkkkkkkkaaaaaaaaaaaaatttttttt BOOM BOOM fool!
Had a blast with everyone!
Lol yes!!
Fascinating but I bet it REEKED in there with all the mold & mildew.
Also, can you tell us who made the eerie background music?
It actually didn't smell too bad until we got to the basement. It was pretty bad down there!
6:07 so true.
"Nope Soap Needs To Be Replaced" 😂👀
😂
It’s kind of sad. It looks like it was a nice hospital before Katrina.
Oh wow! Was that cool. I remember this hospital in the news......pretty tragic all the way around. So many different things to see. I imagine its like in my area, if you get caught, you get cited for trespassing? Thanks for the adventure. Hey, what do you think that girl was up to? She was carrying a case.
Not sure what she was up to, but it was an interesting encounter lol!
@@NOLADEEJ betcha thought for a nanosecond you saw a ghost. 👻😁
@@bobbiema6671 when I passed that hallway and saw the figure at the end, it definitely startled me a bit lol!
@@NOLADEEJ that's because you are used to this, I'd have screamed or froze. Until the ghost heard me or found me. 😂😂😂😂
use to be Mercy Hospital. had surgery there
Woah! That was gnarly! I hope you're up to date on your tetanus shots! If I didn't know better, I would have thought you were with a ghost busting team! Be careful Deej..and thanks for sharing this! It was fascinating!
Hehe yeah there was plenty of sharp rusty things to provide lots of lovely tetanus! 😁
someone must own the building...how do they survive ..
Oh man just like how I was talking about the Moss that I need. I want some of the plants that were growing on the water in the sub-basement! Too sweet I have an obsession with plants that grow in places that are different. I know people who live with Spanish Moss or so used to it but in Washington we don't have it unless you pay a fortune at a store where it grows like a weed. I got to get somebody from a state that has it to send me some again because summer is coming up and I can get it to breed and propagate it. Hint hint
This was cool. Have you done, or could you do, Charity Hospital?
I'd love to see inside Charity!
Nobody I'd getting into charity. It is not in this condition. It was actually ready to accept patients a few months the after Katrina but LSU suckered fema into writing it off as a total loss so they could build the University Hospital. But the building has been maintained and locked up with 24/7 security. It will eventually be developed again.
I wonder if she lives in that spot with the hammock in it. No shoes??? She seems comfortable there...
I'm not sure, she said she had been walking around for like 6 hours. Who knows, lol
What a dump. Needs to be demolished. Are they really doing something with it? Bit late isn't it? Can only imagine how scary this would be at night. Wonder if anyone has a night explore. I'm sure it's haunted. Has to be. This is a death trap. Wonder who that girl was. Might have been living in the room with the hammock. Really enjoyed your video. Thank you. 😊
It has been gutted since I made this, I do believe it’s being turned into something finally. That’s very possible, there were quite a few residents there
I laugh every time you flipping a switch and think of what your reaction would have been is something came on. I guess the cleaning out and demolition would millions. I would definitely be on the lookout for alligators and snakes. I agree the chick with the tackle box and no shoes was weird. You couldn’t pay me to walk around there without boots on.
Haha yeah one of these days I'm gonna flip a switch and something will happen 😂
Just a heads up - that's not a crematorium. It's an incinerator for medical waste (red bag). ;-)
Im surprised the homeless people from across the street are not living in there. Oh yeah...they under the GNO. So sad so many tents.
There were a few living in here, but they were cool
Hey NolaDeej, the one woman in your group seemed pretty knowledgable about the history of the building - just outta curiosity, is she one of the new owners and was this an officially sanctioned exploration? Just blink twice if not lol
Haha she is just very knowledgeable about the place and part of our Krewe… no comment on the second question 😁
hissing is usually gators, aint it.
Is there security here? Or can anyone explore it? I been wanting to explore abandoned places in Nola but idk what places u can go to :(
Unfortunately it’s completely gutted now.
What is wrong with our City that this is not torn down? Geez
I believe it's finally going to be turned into something
Asbestos. The amount of money it would cost to demolish with epa approval is astronomical. Add with it being in a not so good area, they'd rater let it rot and become this than invest the money to demolish it.
As an electrician, I see they did an incredible job of pulling ALL the copper out of that building. Some of them pulls would have required equipment. I wonder if it was a contractor or some damn good crackheads.
Yeah, probably a bit of both
Hey I want to know who spray painted F Calvin at 2:17 ....come on man really 😒 🙄 I want to kick their butt 😆 🤣 😂wow 😂 that's funny 😄
Hahaha!!!
Is this in a sketchy area or is it safe to go inside? Also is it hard to get into such as security being in the way?
Definitely not a safe place to be in
@@NOLADEEJ awww man that makes me sad to hear! But thank you for letting me know I def won't be going in then
What kind of drone do you use?
Mavic Mini
Been all through that place. On the 7th floor there which is hard to find is a hammock made of a sheet tied up . I
Is it the same one in the video? We found a pretty big one up near the roof
I think so it's a maze finding the right stair well because not every stairwell goes there but when does the video show the hammock?
Directions, go into the side entrance near cortez st , go up the stairs enter and make a left at the nurses station, keep right at the end of the hall way, continue towards the jefferson pkwy entrance and take the stairwell 8 or 9 doors to your right. Go all the way up until no stairs are left. There it should be.
Yup there it goes 30:00. That used to be my bed. Looks like there's a happy heroin junkie living there now!!!
@@behn-yanakbrown9671 that was yours? Did you hang that hammock?
It was there before me but it became my home. I was out stuck running the streets of New Orleans for 3 months well I was with a friend who wanted to get away from some legal trouble and wound up getting detained and extradited from St John the Baptist parish. The old CrossFit nola the gym on Cortez Street was knocked down I lived in there for a while back and had to find a new home after it was knocked down. So good friend of mine showed me how to get to the seventh floor of Lindsay boggs sometimes I slept in a hammock but there's also a sixth floor room that has a little mattress in it I had some good lonely parties in there. Just seeing that building give me nostalgia.
Believe it or not people go in there all the time as you can see from the graffiti but nobody ever found the top floor while I was there however I used to encounter random people like you did.
I thought about taking a video tour of it and putting it on UA-cam but I was just too busy partying it was great to see your video
So much damage what a shame it was a beautiful building
I know, it's so big too. I wish they could do something with it
So this must be the hospital those kids went to in that Mr.ballen story...
3:07 Im still working on them ;)
Rick is famous!
Heck yeah!
This hospital was mercy at one time then named Lindsey boggs I remember all my children was born there and I my self had other medical times and Dr. Groom and dr.ballone I my self was born at old mercy hospital 76
Oh wow! Did you recognize any areas in the video?
The front lobby had pictures of 2 dockers dr.beiione Dr. Groom and the rooms I think on the 3rd floor and the baby nursery 76
One thing I would do if I was going
Wth was the girl doing in there by herself?
Who knows, lol
be careful bud
Always 😊
I wonder if this was the same hospital that, in 2013, three 12 year old boys went trespassing in and discovered a gator living in the basement...
That's what brought me to this video, I think it is the same hospital the description of the access stairway to the basement matched this video

That Hospital was one of the Worst in the city if you had a person who you wanted to get rid of you took them there in 6 days they were Dead or on lifesurpot for a few days then they were Dead my Aunt said she was getting paid to kill people don't feed them or water for 4 or 5 days put them on life support keep them on that and keep upping there pain meds till they pass away then the family knew what happened and said No or Topsy to the couple from the trip down here and a pain didn't phone stop until about 2 R Topsy into the Death and most people where Cremated
what?! thats insane! I gotta know more!
The Creepiest Part Is The Soundtrack^^

Notice all the Copper in the building is gone? Wiring, plumbing all of it stripped, who knew Crackheads were such proficient recyclers?
Pro tip: When exploring a building with potential radiological sources present, a Geiger counter is a nice thing to have.
Yeah most of these places is like that unfortunately. Sad!
What sources of radioactivity?
