    39:35 - That window joke is possibly the worst I’ve seen in any media ever. He KNOWS the window is closed, so he asks the other guy to open it. Other guy says it is, and so, somehow, without looking, he throws the water at the closed window. Also, they’re driving on the interstate; it’s be deafening in the car with 65 mph wind blowing in if the window was open. It’s one of those things that’s so bad, it makes my soul hurt.

      I also don’t get why the other guy set him up. He was trying to throw dirty, stinking water out the window so they wouldn’t have to deal with it anymore, right? Well, they were both in the car, so the other guy would have to deal with the smell of the dirty water splashed everywhere too (and if it’s his car, he’ll also have to clean the stinking water out of his car or else have to put up with the smell whenever he drives somewhere). It makes zero sense.

    Some genuinely funny reviews here.
    I've seen every one of these movies, and nearly all of them are terrible (though Beverly Hills Cop 2 has it's moments, as does Ghostbusters 2). But they were so, so wrong about Robocop 2 and it doesn't belong on any "worst movies" list.
    Ebert found the violence and the idea of a murderous child offensive, but I think he missed the point. If possible, Robocop 2 was even more viciously satirical than the first one. If anything, it's a little too meta and self-referential - "Robocop 2" isn't simply a comment on lazy sequel titles, it's the name of the antagonist, which is itself a comment on substandard follow-ups to fresh original concepts. Fans of the first Robocop should check it out if they haven't seen it. It's held up surprisingly well, it's light years better than the third original movie, and vastly superior to the redundant remake from 2014.

    City Slickers 2 was beyond awful.
    As a kid, I loved Ghostbusters 2, but looking back now, yeah, it’s not that good.
    I actually thought they were hard on Beverly Hills Cop 2; not as good as the first, but I thought it was overall decent.

    LOL. "Beverly Hills Cop." I know this is 40 years ago and, thus, is of no interest to most people seeing this. But it's no coincidence that Eddie Murphy's rapidly-rising star in Hollywood fell out of the sky with that dreadful movie. I, like many people, sorely miss these guys. However, if they were still around, I don't know a show like this would fly anymore. For one thing, I'm unaware of any contemporary movies that are good to begin with but, more importantly, the "movie theater" business model is on its last legs.

  • @elvisleeboy
    @elvisleeboy Рік тому +3

    They completely missed the point of Robocop 2. There was nothing glamorous about the kid in the film. It was meant to depict a futuristic hedonistic society, and how the lack of morals therein has robbed a child of his innocence. Just about everyone, including kids, root for Robocop in the film. How are kids going to identify with a nasty villainous kid, sucked into a world of lowlife scum, who ends up dead? His last moments when he is dying, show that he is a kid who has seen things he never should have seen. If anything, it should be a deterrent against getting involved in that world. Siskel and Ebert were reasonably intelligent, but they showed their intellectual limitations in their summary of Robocop 2, blinded by their puritanical outlook.
