Awesome video! I still have a KGC 4041, (the predecessor to your 4042A) it was designed specifically to fit in the ashtray location of many Japanese vehicles of the late 1980’s, which is where I installed it on a 1989 Suzuki Swift GTi. Just pull the ashtray out and the 1/4 din was a snug fit, no hardware needed. Then I trimmed the plastic face surround to cover the ashtray bracket. It definitely looked factory! Although the 4041 did not have RCA connectors, it came with din plugs. I guess Kenwood wanted everyone to purchase Kenwood decks and Kenwood amplifiers to enjoy the Kenwood EQ. I ended up buying din to RCA connectors. The 4041 has only the amber illumination and the sliders have red LED’s. Thanks for sharing!!

The Kenwood 4042a is one of my all time favorite equalizers sounds excellent, great built quality, has a crossover, all in a small 1/4 DIN size.
