Noah is popular solely due to fan fiction. Fan fic writers love writing snarky characters and Noah is a one-liner machine. The actual writers didn’t care because every Total Drama character gets to be sarcastic, but Noah lodged his way into the fan’s heart with nothing but his great wit.
There was a really dark fanfic called "Despair Island" where instead of everyone getting voted off the island in TDI, Chris just _murders_ them. Noah epically uses his brain in the awake-a-thon episode to find a "Life Idol" and gives it to Chris discretely, then spends the entire dodgeball challenge acting _intentionally_ as unhelpful as possible so everyone will vote him off and he can escape with his life. He's one of the five contestants to survive all the way through.
I wrote a fan-fiction called “Total Drama Fan-Fiction Theater” that deconstructed Owen’s and Noah’s friendship, Noah even questions why he is friends with someone so different from him.
Honestly the only character that definitely was done dirty in every single season is LINDSAY like...that woman literally had character development, a funny likeable personality and actually was in the game and the producers never gave her the chance and that sucks
And leshawna and Beth. I would’ve loved it more if leshawna won and in the cooking episode, OWEN should’ve been voted off because he literally, as leshawna said, “ATE THAT ENTIRE PLATE OF RIBS!” I get why Beth was eliminated though, but it still seemed a bit unfair
I need to see that, recently watched all seasons and made a rankings myself and I'd love to compare mine to his. Really interested to see his opinion on controversial characters like Courtney, Mike and more.
here's the thing though, some of the characters devolve so terribly as the seasons progress. Like, Courtney in S1 is incredible, but by the end she's unbearable.
What I loved about the Noah & Owen duo was their very like “yin-yang” vibe: Noah being intelligent and pessimistic while Owen is... not so intelligent but optimistic.
Noah and Courtney were also into Student Government stuff back at their hometowns. While Courtney struggled for support Noah was his schools Student body President.
Can't wait for the new 2 seasons coming soon. I hope it's good enough to replace Revenge of the Island and Pakhetiew Island since Ridonculous Race replaces All Stars in a way.
He was one of my faves purely because his relationship with Owen was a spot on mirror of Chris Farley and David Spade at the peak of their buddy comedy careers.
HELP MY!!! My muscles are too big! I am a big tall man and my muscles are even BIGGER! I use them to get views but they HURT so much!!! Because they are heavy. Do you have any advice, dear dom
Honestly I feel like Noah's random relationship with Emma was just FreshTV desperately trying to no homo Noah after finding out a lot of the fandom interpreted him to be gay.
Gonna be honest, Noah and Owen's friendship was a delightful surprise in World Tour and I think it met its full potential in Redonculous Race. They have a great dynamic of someone who is small, snarky, and intelligent paired with someone who is large, kind-hearted, and a tad bit dim-witted. It was a ton of fun to watch, and I genuinely hope they make a return in the next seasons that are coming soon.
Noah is an example of what Courtney could have been if she wasn’t so competitive and had social skills (this is coming from someone who loves Courtney). He was smart, witty, and although a bit too cold, overall a likeable person. In both of their audition tapes, Noah and Courtney mention their school president role. The different between the two is that, Courtney is clearly desperate to win this role (her whole audition tape is about it), and offends her classmate who’s filming for her due to not leveling up to her standards. As for Noah, he calmly speaks to the camera, and his president role is only brought up when a classmate of his congrats him on his achievement. If the writers didn’t want to use Noah (which is a shame cause he’s such an entertaining character) they could have used him as a device to develop Courtney (and potentially vice versa) by showing her a character with the same ambitions as she has doesn’t need to be straight up obsessive with their goals, and try to understand people better.
Yeah and maybe if she didn't act like a Karen and starts whining and does everything in her power to ruin everything if she doesn't get what she wants. I Love her but like after season 1 it was just horrible.
@@subifyouhatetiktokandreddit234 who cares?! This is literally just a normal damn comment how the fuck is this stolen? You seriously can't be THIS stupid.
Do you know that Noah was originally planned to be an Heather alliance but they had to cut him out of the alliance because they wanted an all girl alliance
I think I heard from a comment that originally the merge was going to consist of 15 people, the episode would be basic straining, and Noah would be eliminated there. Not sure how they got 15 people because currently there were 14 people, I guess the eliminations were just different. I don't have a way to confirm it, but I heard it off a comment.
You gotta admit though, he was wrongfully eliminated in the London episode. Noah and Owen captured Jack the Ripper/Ezekiel which was the goal of the challenge. But team Amazon won because they found Duncan and brought him to Chris and THAT WAS NOT THE GOAL. Noah was robbed.
@@choiproductionsyt OK what if he was just eliminated in Greece instead. Make it so in London Chris says both teams did to well to eliminate anybody. Then in Greece, Alejandro convinces both Duncan and Tyler to vote Noah, saying he'll help them next time as long as they help him, meaning Noah is kicked out.
@@kaec8658 yea same, I loved her relationship with Duncan right before she got eliminated and her character just kind of got more possessive and jealous over Duncan and ruined her character
Can we just talk about how Duncan got WAY too much screen time. He makes it too the final four TWICE AND gets some of the biggest plot lines in the seasons he doesn’t get to the final four. It’s ridiculous.
To be fair Heather also has this situation but I think it's because they're bigger antagonistic characters that the writiers probably enjoy writing for than some of the other characters. Personally I'd like harold or Lashawna or even izzy to have gotten further in the series but that's because I like some of the bigger personality characters like that :P
My theory is that the writers were simping for Duncan so hard that they didn't want to write him out of the script until/unless they were forced to. Him being a fan favorite gave them more excuses too.
I mean, he’s just kinda lazy( the character in canon, not his writing). There are other smart individuals in the series that actually care about the game and put effort in, and they make great characters. I am not sure I’m a fan of this “I’m too smart to care and put effort in” mentality that he carries, although he gets better with time. That being said, he’s hysterical so of course I love him.
@@epicgamer8326 i am probably projecting on this since Noah is my favorite character and i identifie to him a lot but here's my take on his behavior : 1- people like Noah don't know how to make efforts for a simple reason : they never hade to, every basic knowledges was learned very fast ,in Noah's case his whole life up to highschool has been one sweet ride on his mental capacity's ,it is likely that he never hade to take more than an hour of his day to do his homeworks or learn his lessons, resulting in a total lack of work etic 2- as kids people like Noah are praised all the time for being " gifted " ,in his case again it seem that it keep going in highschool, imagine the superiority complex you would get if everyone you knew keep telling you how much smarter and more mature you are then everyone else, it's the kind of complex that only the hard punch of your first big failure will shatter ( for Noah, his elimination in TDI) 3-being great at everything for so long make it harder deal with failure than it should be, people like this are often perfectionnists but it can result in a more strange behavior, the personne will never go 100% in anything and sometime they don't even try ( it obvioulsy resulte in constant failure anytime something is slightly harder) not trying come from the obvious " if i don't do it i can't fail at it " and never giving your all come from " i failed but it wasn't the best i can do so it's not that am not good enought " both are ways reasure themself about their own capacitys (basiclly you "purposly " fail so you never feel like a failure ,make sense right ?) In conclusion to me Noah don't act the way he does because he think he is " too smart " but rather because of a mixe of the three things i listed above that are common traits you can find in people with high potentiel Then again i may be saying massive BS because of my need to identify to Noah but it just really seem to fit with the way he refuse to play the dodgeball game ( " if i don't do it i can't fail at it ") and with his personality type in general Here was my massive Noah rant because im obssed with him thank you for reading and have a good day (also im french so i don't know if you understand any of what i said)
Yes. The nerve of the show to vote him out third and write him out of the second season. He’s literally one of the funniest characters in the whole series.
@@elmasterdezoologia6641 they did good with him in ridonculus race, and given the last words of Owen and Noah, he's basically confirmed for the next season(s). So yeah, I'm hopeful
The "Owen is a mole" subplot didn't make me dislike Owen as a character (especially since I kept thinking he would come clean due to being Owen) but it actually INFURIATED me when Owen single-handedly ruined the development between Harold and Duncan! They were almost friends and then he sabotaged it. That's when the subplot went from kind of dumb, but minor, to incredibly aggravating.
@@nicoleflores2054 yeah, you would think that the two would attempt to put aside their differences after what happen in Season 1, maybe even Harold convincing Duncan that Courtney wasn't the complete saint she looked to be during the time she on Island and Action.
Dude is literally known as “the High I.Q.” and yet later seasons just characterize him as a generic sarcastic snarker because his debut episode happened to feature some snide remarks
that's what im saying. Ridonculous race might have gave him development but it lowkey ruined his character. In tdwt he could've had a storyline with Alejandro since he was one of the two to only catch on to him. That would make him look more high IQ.
The weirdest part of the show for me was how much screen time went to the Gwen/Duncan/Courtney love triangle just to not at all dissect how abusive they kind of both were towards him. Especially in all star. What was the point???? Why even focus on it if you’re not going to have it end in any satisfying way. Literally just Duncan getting endlessly fucked with and then going to jail.
Yep. Love how we ended up losing out on Gwen and Courtney’s friendship, Gwen and Duncan’s friendship, and the pure-er days of Courtney and Duncan as a couple just for all three to now be enemies and with Duncan in jail...
@@bilis2866 I’m not against the love triangle, I thought it was interesting, I just think Duncan got really badly fucked over at all times by both of them and then got thrown in jail with the overall tone of “he got what he deserved.” It was just weirdly mean spirited to him.
Idk about anyone else but Trent and Gwen's absolute self destruction almost turned me off to season two in general. I can't for the life of me understand what the purpose of having Trent and Gwen pick the teams and be captains if they are eliminated back to back. Trent turning into a simp and Gwen getting eliminated right after due to guilt was a big waste of time and opportunity considering how far Gwen got in season 1.
@@ryla8195 Cartoon Network forced that to happen. I think to make Courtney and Duncan a real relationship, it would have to make Courtney a likeable character in Season 2 and 3.
@@ryla8195 seriously though the love triangle basically ruined everything with the three of them. Courtney was already not looking that great in season 2 but they completely killed her in season 3.

Thank you for siding with me on that abysmal Total Drama All Stars. It's like they forgot how to write characters and completely train wrecked Duncan, Gwen, Courtney and basically everyone except for Zoey and Mike
Yeah All-Star will always be my least favorite season. Pahkitew Island might have had mostly forgettable cast but at least it did not ruin/flanderize previously amazing characters like All-stars did
I liked it, I enjoyed how the old characters had kinda served their purpose, as well as the fact that finally Chris was beginning to have to pay for his crimes (with everything being irradiated and the EPA going after him).
I kinda feel like the season peaked in every episode until Duncan rejoined. Mostly cause Team Chris is really hot had the best interactions in the show.
Noah's stereotype in Total Drama Island was "The Schemer" but it was changed to "The High IQ" in Total Drama World Tour. Mark Thornton and Todd Kauffman have hinted in an interview that this was because Noah was apparently conceived as a somewhat villainous contestant early on.
@@logantharp6066 I imagine if that was the case Noah and Eva's alliance would be just plain business with each other, but because of Owen, they feel bad for manipulating him and decided to actually be friends. @Mario Kart animations Faiyad Until revenge of the island and the others (excluding total dramarama and Ridonuculous Race and also correct me if I spelt it wrong)
@Griffin Ellis Her first time being eliminated helped established Heather as a threat, so it works perfectly in a narrative standpoint. The most they could really do with her character is give her team the dilemma of deciding whether her athletic prowess is worth putting up with her antics. Which would have gotten old fast.
My list of missed potential in total drama - Noah and Tyler development - The season 4 cast not getting enough love and chances for development (especially Dawn and B) - Everything about season 5 - A good spin-off instead of Dramarama like a ridiculous race 2 or anything else
I always thought of a second ridoncolous race with more of the original and second trilogy like Joey and mike and maybe heather and Alejandro Lindsay and Tyler that I think woulda been cool
Noah and Tyler are definitely the most missed opportunities of the whole series, should have merged both instead of Owen and Duncan who contributed to basically nothing in world tour

@@princibles yeaa team Amazon was like a rlly crazy team but like the couldn’t have won the first couple of challenges without Cody and sierra since Courtney, Gwen and heather just fought all the time
6:57 Apparently TvTropes mentions that Noah was actually supposed to form an alliance with Heather in the first half, with his job being to spy on the boys for her, and Heather would have eliminated him in the 15th episode of the season. It was dropped because the writers wanted Heather's alliance to be all girls, hence Noah's early elimination as well as Eva's sudden return in the 15th episode. So, you were right!
The only problem I had with these kinds of shows is that the more characters/people leave, the less chemistry there is to be had between them and the show can get really dry or irritating depending on which people are left
Insert Patrick voice: Scaffrillas, you and I both know that you are just using total drama island as a distraction so you don't have to work on your Shrek the Musical video.
They are the anti's of each other. Noah's smart and Justin's stupid, Noah's weak and Justin's buff, Justin's hot and Noah's not. They still have a lot of similarities, they're both lazy and egotistical.
I liked the idea of Emma and Noah, I just didn’t like to much how the execute it. Noah suddenly becoming this lovey dovey goofball feels out of character and forced. I think both him and Emma should have been resistant to dating each other before slowly getting more comfortable with the idea
Yeah I like their relationship but I feel like they should have made that an earlier season thing. Not the very end and it just felt very random and somewhat weird.
It also should’ve had a better catalyst than watching her do a gymnastics challenge. Like, Noah’s seen what it takes to survive CHRIS, a front flip shouldn’t dazzle him 💀
For people wondering why people think Noah is gay, it’s because he is queer-coded. Queer-coded means that the character is never explicitly said to be gay, but the audience reads them to be. TD is filled with stereotypes, and Noah fits this by being snarky, self-centered, and borderline dramatic. Noah also does not have any traditional masculine traits. He doesn’t like sports or physical activity. When he does run in TDDDDI, even Eva says he “runs like a girl” because he ran with his hands at his sides. Another aspect is it seems like Noah has some internalized homophobia with how adamant he is when denying the sleeping ear kiss. He is embraced about it because he was asleep. People don’t say the kiss shows Noah is gay. It’s how he denied it. Plus, people use the kiss to show parallels to other hetero couples sleeping cuddled up together. The best example is Courtney and Duncan waking up and immediately blaming the other for unconsciously cuddling. Not only did Noah cuddle with Cody in the main series but again in the celebrity manhunt special outside of the bus. There are other jokes in the series that comment on Noah’s sexuality. The main one is with Owen when trying to convince DJ to join an alliance. Noah says asking people into an alliance is a lot like asking someone on a date. Owen then proceeds to tell DJ that Noah is attracted to him. For a more detailed explanation, look up “Noah is gay coded” by tolstoynoah on the amino apps total drama section.
I agree w the noah and owen being the "married couple" in that one WT challenge, I think that'd make a lot more sense for bonding purposes since he is owen's partner in RR
This week on, "Justify My Fanfiction!" A crazed man raves at the clouds about his favourite character for half an hour. But seriously though this was really funny and interesting.
Honestly Noah really should have won the aftermath special competition and gone back to the show. If he got paired with Owen in the Niagara episode he would have had some great comedy moments. He probably would have talked about how ridiculous a lot of that challenge is. Just imagine his line deliver if he was like fine I'll be in the wedding the dress. He would come to the conclusion that it would be easier for Owen to carry him instead of vise versa
I actually really liked Eva, she made even Heather have someone to watch out for and I think heather is at her best when she has big conflict and big competition (as proof of alahondro and duncan/lashawna which usually leads to some of the best heather moments).

they all suck. duncney came out of nowhere, as fun as it was. gwuncan was some stupidass love triangle which messed up world tour, and gwourtney's dynamic is ruined. this is noco levels of bad ships, especially gwuncan
I think there's a whole fanfiction series dedicated to giving Noah a literal second chance as he's sent back in time with all his memories to try and change his fate. He makes it to the final four in the first season. Don't know about the rest, I forgot to read it.
I actually don’t think Noah is the most wasted character but Eva. It’s the person that got the least scenes in all 3 seasons. She could have been a great character but she didn’t even have the chance. She got a few scenes in the aftermaths and the special episodes but fr that’s it. I would have loved to saw her character development and a different side of her. The only impression we got was a strong angry woman. If they ever bring back the original cast let Eva be on the season.😊
One thing I can’t believe is that you never mentioned is that in the first episode when Noah is introduced he says that he has deathly allergies but since it never comes up again I think they gave the allergies to Cody in the third season
I think the word you mean is under used and he wasn’t that under used anyway. He is actually extremely overrated as he has a huge fan base considering his small amount of screen time. Underrated means a character contributed much and is a likeable character with a relatively small fan base, so please don’t word what you say wrong about an overrated character.
It's funny how you talk about how useless Katie and Sadie are. I always wanted a plot line with them, not necessarily splitting up but making new friends/becoming less dependent on each other. Katie's bio mentions her sewing and "thinking with her heart", while Sadie's says she thinks with her head. They have differences, and I feel like there could have been more to them.

Same
Noah is an example of what Courtney could have been if she wasn’t so competitive and had social skills (this is coming from someone who loves Courtney). If the writers didn’t want to use Noah (which is a shame cause he’s such an entertaining character) they could have used him as a device to develop Courtney (and potentially vice versa) by showing her a character with the same ambitions as she has doesn’t need to be straight up obsessive with their goals, and try to understand people better.
as someone who loves both, this comment is just, potential.
Yeah and maybe if she didn't act like a Karen and starts whining and does everything in her power to ruin everything if she doesn't get what she wants. I Love her but like after season 1 it was just horrible.

It could work if he's in the new season if you made Kitty and Emma related to heather

Hes a fan favorite, itd be stupid if they didnt give him screen time
His average placement was 4.25
My theory is that the writers were simping for Duncan so hard that they didn't want to write him out of the script until/unless they were forced to. Him being a fan favorite gave them more excuses too.
The power of being a fan favourite
I think Noah is actually perfectly written, he's too smart to actually put some effort.
@@epicgamer8326 i am probably projecting on this since Noah is my favorite character and i identifie to him a lot but here's my take on his behavior :
1- people like Noah don't know how to make efforts for a simple reason : they never hade to, every basic knowledges was learned very fast ,in Noah's case his whole life up to highschool has been one sweet ride on his mental capacity's ,it is likely that he never hade to take more than an hour of his day to do his homeworks or learn his lessons, resulting in a total lack of work etic
2- as kids people like Noah are praised all the time for being " gifted " ,in his case again it seem that it keep going in highschool, imagine the superiority complex you would get if everyone you knew keep telling you how much smarter and more mature you are then everyone else, it's the kind of complex that only the hard punch of your first big failure will shatter ( for Noah, his elimination in TDI)
3-being great at everything for so long make it harder deal with failure than it should be, people like this are often perfectionnists but it can result in a more strange behavior, the personne will never go 100% in anything and sometime they don't even try ( it obvioulsy resulte in constant failure anytime something is slightly harder) not trying come from the obvious " if i don't do it i can't fail at it " and never giving your all come from " i failed but it wasn't the best i can do so it's not that am not good enought " both are ways reasure themself about their own capacitys (basiclly you "purposly " fail so you never feel like a failure ,make sense right ?)
In conclusion to me Noah don't act the way he does because he think he is " too smart " but rather because of a mixe of the three things i listed above that are common traits you can find in people with high potentiel
Then again i may be saying massive BS because of my need to identify to Noah but it just really seem to fit with the way he refuse to play the dodgeball game ( " if i don't do it i can't fail at it ") and with his personality type in general
Here was my massive Noah rant because im obssed with him thank you for reading and have a good day (also im french so i don't know if you understand any of what i said)

@@nicoleflores2054 yeah, you would think that the two would attempt to put aside their differences after what happen in Season 1, maybe even Harold convincing Duncan that Courtney wasn't the complete saint she looked to be during the time she on Island and Action.

I liked the idea of Emma and Noah, I just didn’t like to much how the execute it. Noah suddenly becoming this lovey dovey goofball feels out of character and forced. I think both him and Emma should have been resistant to dating each other before slowly getting more comfortable with the idea
Agreed they could’ve made them forced to work together and then they start to talk and get along then fall in love

Noah had so much potential in the first two seasons. I’m glad the writers put some more thought and love for him in World Tour
This week on, "Justify My Fanfiction!" A crazed man raves at the clouds about his favourite character for half an hour.
But seriously though this was really funny and interesting.
A recognition of a true hero, NOAH was the Chad of Total Drama series.
P.S. It's time to listen to TDWT songs.
Fun fact: Chef, DJ, Beardo, and Leonard are played by Clé Bennett, who plays Lamar Hoskins on The Falcon and the Winter Soldier!
WHAT?
Total Drama confirmed to be part of the MCU! It's all connected!
woahh that's so cool!
I now need to find a video of one of those 4 smashing into a wall and smash cut it to what happened in the latest episode
@@them. To recreate the scene:
DJ: Lamar
Duncan: John Walker
Heather: Karli
I feel like Eva is underrated, because she could've had an advantage but sadly she was forgotten.
No, she was kinda recycled into Jo, so she's never coming back
I actually really liked Eva, she made even Heather have someone to watch out for and I think heather is at her best when she has big conflict and big competition (as proof of alahondro and duncan/lashawna which usually leads to some of the best heather moments).
@@linksora7120 sorry but i find your spelling of "alejandro" quite unnerving 😭
@@geckopecko I dunno why I couldn't think of how it was spelled so just put it the most literal spelling XD But yes XD
Yeah.
Me, remembering that i wrote fan-fiction about Noah in middle school/early high school: 👁👄👁
Noah is underrated 😏 👊
@@Starleafys it probably wouldn't be too hard to find since i don't think there's a lot of noah fan fiction out there, but i'm not giving you the site either, it's not on ao3 though, i'll say that much

Probably livejournal or ffnet, maybe wattpad?? Depends how old you are.
The main thing I remember from my Total Drama days was the Gwen/Duncan versus Courtney/Duncan shippers. The most big-brained move I made was shipping Gwen and Courtney together instead 😌
As much as I dislike Gwourtney, I must admit that it's better than Gwuncan.
still sad how broken courtney and gwen's dynamic is now
they all suck. duncney came out of nowhere, as fun as it was. gwuncan was some stupidass love triangle which messed up world tour, and gwourtney's dynamic is ruined. this is noco levels of bad ships, especially gwuncan
@@nicoleflores2054 yea they were like friends for 3 episodes on all stars and then I guess they couldn’t trust eachother or smth 💀
YOU GET IT
My man got a smart and thicc girlfriend. A fitting conclusion for the best character.
I think there's a whole fanfiction series dedicated to giving Noah a literal second chance as he's sent back in time with all his memories to try and change his fate. He makes it to the final four in the first season. Don't know about the rest, I forgot to read it.
………..Title?
Don’t be shy give us the title
ITS BEEN A YEAR WHATS THE TITLE.
Omg I need this
I FOUND IT, ITS CALLED TOTAL DRAMA REDEMPTION ON FANFICTION DOT NET
"Neutering Justin" is not something I ever thought I'd hear 🤣
I actually don’t think Noah is the most wasted character but Eva. It’s the person that got the least scenes in all 3 seasons. She could have been a great character but she didn’t even have the chance. She got a few scenes in the aftermaths and the special episodes but fr that’s it. I would have loved to saw her character development and a different side of her. The only impression we got was a strong angry woman. If they ever bring back the original cast let Eva be on the season.😊
Yes! Noah and Owen at the wedding theme episode Would. Have. Been. Golden!
Why would they ship Owen with fucking Blainley when they can ship him with Noah??
Nah the best ship is Dave x Scott 😈😈
@@Testingthisname Yeah because males can't be together in that way obviously :I
@Julio Paulino it’s the best
They have the same hair color
because it was a cartoon show in the 2000’s
I had wanted a Total Drama video since I heard him saying he was rewatching it for no reason.
One thing I can’t believe is that you never mentioned is that in the first episode when Noah is introduced he says that he has deathly allergies but since it never comes up again I think they gave the allergies to Cody in the third season
Yeah I think they forgot they wrote it 😭
I swear, schaff's gangsta's paradise memes get better every time
Some really said "he has to make a ranking of all world tour songs" i thought he was talking about trolls 💀💀😭
LMAO
Why not both?

cody is literally goated. funny, has character growth, almost a hero at times. totally underrated.
Yeah, he's awesome
I think the word you mean is under used and he wasn’t that under used anyway. He is actually extremely overrated as he has a huge fan base considering his small amount of screen time. Underrated means a character contributed much and is a likeable character with a relatively small fan base, so please don’t word what you say wrong about an overrated character.
@@PETSEMATARYTWO he's pretty boring imo, also nice toxicity levels there, you must be nuclear waste.
Best character in WT confirmed
@@sevenoxia7199 I wouldn't say Cody has a small amount of screen time considering his contributes in World Tour.
im so happy that you’re talking about total drama now 😭
Noah is the best Total Drama character and no one can change my mind
its Gwen
That's a weird way to say Ezekiel
He's definitely one of my favorites!
Scott is the best character.
