I feel badly for these people, partly because they are missing life with their heads down all the time, but mostly because they failed to appreciate Frankie's awesome sweater.
I like how he runs out of there regardless of whether he's being chased or not -- and with the phone people, it follows that he wouldn't be followed, except maybe on his socials
"First line of defense to shield a boring personality" "You'll never be able to compete with an algorithm that knows them better than you ever could" Well put
I used to be quite anxious about my worsening eyesight as I approached middle age, and started putting my phone away during my commute. It was then I started noticing that everyone - everyone - around me on the train was glued to their phone the entire time. I see the guy in the purple shirt and I feel seen. 😅😅😅
This was devastatingly spot on. We’re worlds away from those directly in front of us. Interpersonal communication requires a desire to give a shit about someone other than yourself. Excellent observation and your sweater is smashing
I witnessed this years ago on a subway before smartphones were even a thing. Everyone gets on the train. Out came the phones. Train stops phone goes away. This repeated at every stop ad nauseum.
Tbf who makes small talk on public transport? Acceptable to go on your phone or read or stare out the window but going on your phone constantly when with your friends/family is not cool.
For non-zoomers, this is the meal when you realize your homies ain't your homies. For zoomers, this every meal since your parents got too tired to take care of you.
For sure my instinct is to go to my phone cause of social anxiety. But I feel it is even more obvious and cringe so I just make myself endure the awkwardness (which usually is in my head or transient anyways)
We did that once at a bar, and my two buddies absentmindedly pulled their phones out at the *same exact time* to check a sports score 😂 they had to split the bill
This has been a pet hate since touch screens became a thing. Going to the pub in the hope of them bants, but really you may as well get some tins from the offy and drink em on ya Tod at home.
all i can say is the algo didn't like you calling out the technofeudalists a few months back haha. your videos brought me a small moment of life-saving reprieve in the form of (human) joy. thanks, man who wears odd clothing and runs like that one kid from middle school
Absent real. Frankie, you're a poet. Providing the world a flamboyantly dressed flavour of every bit of culture. The only people that saw you run were here. It's sad, funny, but so sad.
It's amazing how many people are unable to resist it. People who will pull out a phone and start messaging someone mid-conversation. Like huh? Imagine puling out a phone and calling someone while someone is talking with you, without saying anything.
I'm so nerdy I did work experience at Nintendo during high school. But I don't stare at a device when I go out. My phone is on airplane mode, just to conserve battery for the night, no one is calling it anyway.
It's so funny that they are so deep into their anxiety and feeling awkward that they become almost paralyzed and not even one of them visibly reacted to a dude coming up to them and talking to a camera
I have auditory processing disorder, and I struggle to understand what people are saying when there's a lot of background noise - like music, other people talking loudly etc. When I eat at restaurants, I'm on my phone because I'm talking to the person I'm with over text. Maybe consider whether some of the people on their phones aren't mindlessly scrolling the algorithm. Maybe they're not being as antisocial as you assume. Maybe this is the only way they can enjoy a conversation in such an atmosphere. Maybe they're actually just talking shit about you, and they don't want you to overhear.

This is is deep philosophy disguised as comedy. Existentialism extravaganza. 10/10.
Life is a tragedy for those who feel and a comedy for those who think.
If you're gonna be the smug guy at the table without a phone, might as well double down and whip out a book so you can be smug about 2 things at once.
Check out his reading in public video
@@fullertronI'm going to go out on a limb and say he has, hence why he made the book remark

They can watch it on UA-cam.

Maybe he's doing a dine and dash because he saw his server on the phone
he's running away from the crushing vacuum that threatens to pursue him
but how are people going to know i'm at a restaurant if i'm not writing it on social media
You are so right.
Nobody at the restaurant has noticed you there, because they were all on their phones. 😢
I like how he runs out of there regardless of whether he's being chased or not -- and with the phone people, it follows that he wouldn't be followed, except maybe on his socials
Better to keep moving regardless. Can’t stay stagnant.
I remember a few years ago seeing a family at a sports bar/restaurant, all eyes locked on the screen. We thought it was odd then. Little did we know.
This was a great video! I showed it to everyone else at the restaurant I'm at!
i hope you sent them the link and didnt actually share your phone
This guy could teach real philosophy at a Uni.
The script was great, but the pink fluffy jumper is the real star.
