Thanks for the tutorial. As a securestring type, shouldn't they make it harder to obtain the decrypted value? typing a --with-decryption and immediately get it seems a little bit too convenient for attacks. I am pretty sure I miss something here.
Hi... I am having the same scenario.. But our password contains special characters. Thus at the time of cloud formation SSM parameter value is not replaced properly.. Password begins with @ Can you help??

if you are a aws user with the IAM ROLE to decrypt secureString, yes it decrypt on the fly.
