- Welcome to the channel immersive warriors! Let's talk Sonos Era 300 for Dolby Atmos! I bought this speaker with high hopes but did it live up to the expectations?

It used to work - you could play mp4 from your music library - in atmos - but with a Sonos „upgrade“ it was lost - it’s a known issue and the say they are working on it - all the best to you I enjoy your videos

Thanks Pat! Believe it or not I just came from my local electronics store and I wanted to buy one. Fortunatlty they didn't have it in stock!.Im glad.! Just like you I wanted the consumer experience of listening to my Atmos mixes. I wonder if the JBL Authentics 500 would work instead....
Glad I could help! Not familiar with the JBL. I'll check to out, thanks!!! [Pat from the future: I checked it out, it is 3.1 and does "virtual" Dolby Atmos apparently which is not quite what I was looking for]. Hopefully Sonos will get an update going. Following up on this and will report back.
The special engineer version has an 8-channel Dante input and will take a 5.1.2 re-render.

It’s was actually quite easy to access your music library with the desktop app but the somehow screwed it up - I can send you a guide how to do it and we both hope they’ll fix it

I just saw they released an upgrade today that should take care of the issue - I’ll try it tomorrow

I have the sonos 5’s and sub woofer. They worked fine until S2…now useless despite all recommendations.
Speakers work perfectly fine with airplay and spotify…doesn’t make sense…maybe sonos should consult…
Are you just trying to playback Apple Music on a single Era 300? I've heard of people connecting to a Sonos Arc system with something like an Apple TV and using the 300's for rear surrounds and heights, and even a Stereo Pair for Atmos from a phone, but not a single speaker. It does say on their website that when you have a pair of 300's, you get the ability to use Dolby Atmos. If you are doing this, then that is definitely an issue with Sonos. But if you are just using a single speaker and they are claiming it to being a "known issue", it sounds like this is just something that they have yet to include as a feature for the single speaker system. Their wording on their product info pages are not 100% clear about what is and isn't Atmos, but it does look like you can do Atmos stuff with a single 300. But I'm not an expert :)
Yeah, it is kind of vague what can and cannot be done. For checking own mixes apparently there was the capability to play .mp4s from your phone but that disappeared after an update!!! Hoping it will get added back soon!!! The "known issue" is for the Apple Music integration not working at all!! Thanks for your comment!
I have 10 Sonos products and none of them can reliably connect tp mu wifi with any regularity. I am done with this dumpster fire.

Make sure you are up to date on the software side first, then try again, then if it doesn't work get in touch with Sonos support. They are great!
