This finale was made before Rebecca got greenlit for season 6. She wanted to give the show the best possible finale if this was to be the final episode. When they finished the episode they got told "Hey season 6 yep you can do it!" so yeah it feels like an ending because of that.

From Straight to Video when Rose talks directly to Steven from the video tape: “Steven, we can’t both exist. I’m going to become half of you. And I need you to know that every moment you love being yourself, that’s me, loving you and loving being you.”
We have confirmation that this isn't the series finale. A while ago we got confirmation from Steven's Spanish VA that they're dubbing Season 6, and in the new podcast, Rebecca has stated that, while this is the ending of the story they initially envisioned when the show was pitched, the show isn't over. Season 6 will essentially have a new storyline with the same characters in the same universe. _However,_ It is true that we're not getting episodes for a while. From what it seems, the next thing in the show's canon is the movie, which has been confirmed to be released in this year's _fall._ Also, to answer one of your questions, Pink Steven is Steven's Gem side, literally. When Rose said "I'm going to become half of you", she meant that she would disappear and her gemstone would turn into half of Steven's being, with his other half being Steven's human side.
At the end of the episode Steven said he had an idea along with his song idea. I think his idea is gonna be to take the legs into space and try to help other alien planets get back to health after the diamonds attacks, also to help homeworld adjust to a new system since the diamonds aren’t gonna be ruling like how they use to. Yep, I think season 6 is gonna be a space adventure with Steven and his new 50 plus moms. Get Jasper in there too.

Hi I'd die for your reactions tbh you guys are the best, I've been really looking forward to this :') I've loved hearing your thoughts on this ep! Pretty sure other people have already said this, but yeah, there's another season. This episode was planned to be the series finale if the show didn't get renewed, I believe Rebecca mentioned this was around the time she was fighting to get the wedding included so that's probably why they decided to resolve so many things in one episode, they probably didn't want to leave those questions unanswered. That being said, yeah, the whole episode was incredibly fast paced and frankly, I'm really glad that it's _not_ the finale of the show. This show's so character driven and this episode was really lacking a lot on that front. I still enjoyed it overall but there definitely some big issues in it. But I do think that there is potential for later seasons, there's still a lot of things that they could touch upon. Like you mentioned, the new fusions, Pink Pearl, etc. (Btw, the movie is scheduled to come out this fall!)

I thought it felt rushes they say the series is still gonna go on so why not spread it out into a steven bomb instead of showing us all the fusions in one episode. It was like bam! bam! bam! Too much exitement in one episode lol
I LOVE you guys because you’re not afraid of being critical about this show. I loved this episode BUT the pacing was expremely rushed. Corruption has been one of the main ”evils” in this show from the literal first episode, its SUCH a vital part of the story and how does it climax? With a 30second end credit scene with a music score playing over it. Its satesfying to see all these things happen; lars is back, jasper is back, three new fusions etc but it leaves a sour taste in my mouth because we dont get to see the IMPACT of these things on the characters. Garnet and Steven didnt even get to acknowledge that THEY FUSED because they had to hurry up and form obsidian to move the episode along. It just felt so empty. Remember Garnets reaction to stevonnie and smokey? how do you think she SHOULD have reacted to fusing with steven? her baby boi??? aaarghhh
Well excuse me there wasn't a lot of TIME, they had to move the ATTACK ON WHITE DIAMOND along, also this wasn't the climax to the corruption arc it's just the next step in addressing it if you think the next season won't be spent dealing with the ramifications of corruption AND THE LASTING DAMAGE THAT IS STILL VISIBLE then I don't know what to say
I don't think they were certain they were gonna get another season so they went with faux season finale so if they didn't get another season we be okay with this ending for the series. Which would also explain all the different fusions. If that is true than I think this was the best idea because if this is the last season and we didn't get any closure that this season finale than we be rightfully angry and disappointed.
You know what I think they will do? Introduce another alien race that starts taking over the gems conquered planets, some of the diamonds take refuge in Earth and the crystal gems need to save the entire gem race of annihilation. The thing would be that the alien race could be one that lost its planet to the gems and seeks vengeance, so their crusade would be somewhat "just". That would make some (of even all, although improbable) of the diamonds part of the crystal gems, as a new rebel group against this species, showing the TRUE diamond redemption making them accountable for their tyranny and planet conquering addiction. Also, you can't possibly go more anime-dragon ball that this kind of plot. If Lapis was Piccolo, Peridot is Vegeta, then the diamonds would be Frieza. And guess who ended up fighting along Goku to save the universe? Yeah, nothing to add dear jury.
