    EXTRA NOTE: Pause this video at 2:14 and you'll see a 1 hour default time span which will show up when you click the scissors the 2nd time. Grab the red right edge and drag it to the left so you only get the minute or 2 that you're after.
    Also if you see an error message just ignore it and hit OK to make it go away.

    i figured it out, for those struggling w/ clipping a time clip: example: if you want a 5 minute time clip, then you may have to select minimum 1 hour past desired end time so you can grab the right handle and drag it back to desired end time. You cant just start with 5 minutes selected & grab the whole clip...it doesn't work that way

    • @goingblindmusic
      @goingblindmusic 3 роки тому +3

      Yes that sounds about right. You must select a time range greater than 1 hour so you see both the red handles, so you can drag the right hand one back to close to the other.

      and just to add, you can roll the mouse when you're hovered over the timeline to change the scale, so no need to scroll forever to find the damn end marker! Crappy design lol

    Great! On my "old" v1.6 software on the PC I could select the day of the "incident"; scroll to incident and when I found it I would click the "cut" at the beginning and again at the end (2 - 30 minutes) and it would save it. I have updated the NVR and the new v2.03 software appears to not have that ability. You show a one hour block appearing after clicking the "cut" (start of incident) - is there a way to manually select the "end of incident" without trying to find that "end block" - or - is there a way to set that "block" to a shorter (ei 5 minutes) period?

    Just a further question please....I've set up a static cam as a trigger to a PTZ preset and suprisingly I actually got it to work! But when the PTZ is triggered (by the static cam) it then sits permanently at this Preset. How do I config the PTZ to return to a 'home' position, another Preset, after a set period of time or even commence a tour?

    • @goingblindmusic

      Sounds like a PTZ programming setting. Look either in the PTZ onboard settings or in the PTZ control settings in the NVR. Sounds like you'll find the answer yourself. Let us know here how you get on.

    • @carlturner544

      @@goingblindmusic I eventually figured it out and it's a very useful function! In PTZ webservice > PTZ>Function>Time Task> Enable, then choose whatever settings req'd. *Make sure in the Period Settings option, Period 1 is checked otherwise it wont work*. So in my case the static cam will trigger the PTZ to a preset, interrupt a tour (if this is running) and then reset (after the time you've specified) to a Preset or Tour depending on what you've set up in the settings.Voila! But a lot of time working out how!

    • @AucklandsecuritycamerasNZ
      @AucklandsecuritycamerasNZ  4 роки тому

      Yes. Your question implies that you have more than one recording method set up. If you only record on Motion Detect then that solves your issue. There won’t be any other recordings, only motion ones.
      Or if you persist with more than MD then simply select the yellow MD under Record Type in Playback & deselect everything else.

      Martin Turner Tell them to stop being silly. Incidents are seconds and sometimes minutes long. Never ever hours, let alone that many. Find the incident and export the footage. If Smart PSS plays up take a screenshot video or film your computer with your iPhone.

    Great Thank you . Is there a way to remote backup - multiple days or date ranges or multiple cameras ? or do i just have to your procedure and scissor cut each day and camera at a time ?

    • @AucklandsecuritycamerasNZ
      @AucklandsecuritycamerasNZ  4 роки тому

      I wouldn't use Smart PSS if you have to backup such huge amounts of data. Instead use a usb stick into the back of the recorder and do it using the backup menu on the recorder itself ( you need a monitor and a mouse connected to the recorder to do this ).
      I'd urge you to consider why this is necessary in the first place. I don't know your specific situation so it's not for me to decide, but what I would say is it is very unusual to do this. Most users simply accept that there is a certain number of days recorded before the data is overwritten, and they manage it that way. ie they know they've got say 30 days to get any specific footage off ( using Smart PSS for small amounts ). If X days aren't enough they put in a HDD twice the size and get 2X and so on up to the limit of the DVR if necessary ( very rare ).
      I'd only use Smart PSS for seconds or minutes of data ( never for hours or days worth ). Most incidents are over in a few seconds and often it's a still photo ( a screen shot from a video ) that cliches the evidence anyway.

    Excellent video, thanks for posting. At the base of your screen shot, there's a broken yellow line showing MD footage at points in time. Mine is just a solid Green bar, general view, with no specific footage of Motion Detect (or Alarm etc) but the check boxes are ticked. Any thoughts on why I dont have the MD footage? This is more useful than 24 hours of constant recording as it shows just the 'exceptions'

      @carlturner544 4 роки тому

      I've worked out how to do this, thank you

    • @AucklandsecuritycamerasNZ
      @AucklandsecuritycamerasNZ  4 роки тому

      A solid green bar means the recorder is on Regular, which as you've correctly realised, is continuous recording. The Motion Detect has not been set up correctly in the recorder's menu.
      You need to do 2 things. 1. Set Motion Detect for each channel. 2. Set Storage / Schedule to be the yellow MD rather than just the green Regular. Set it for one channel and then copy to all to save time
      Then you'll be away laughing!

    • @carlturner544
      @carlturner544 4 роки тому

      @@AucklandsecuritycamerasNZ I dont think I ever laugh when trying to config recording s/w. As you mentioned it's often very complicated :) I can see the benefits of rec just MD, but is there a lag between detection and recording or is it pretty much instantaneous? One advantage that I like is that it would highlight someone sneaking around, although no 'damage committed'. Whereas continuous recording wouldnt highlight this (without viewing all footage). Daft question or perhaps not....can you set a camera to record constantly AND record MD under a separate 'stream' so to speak? With an NVR it doesnt really matter as huge storage space and over-write. This way you could check just MD and look at continuous feed in case it missed something.

    • @goingblindmusic
      @goingblindmusic 4 роки тому

      @@carlturner544 I highly recommend laughing in the face of adversity - which we frequently face when programming CCTV systems don't we!
      Instead of a lag there is a default pre-record setting of 5 seconds so no worries there.
      While it's possible to record continuous and motion detect I don't advise it. Not only is it a waste of space, but my supplier advises that it can cause issues on some recorders. MD is the way to go.

      I agree it's annoying and not obvious how to fix.
      Here's how.
      When you click on scissors it selects one hour worth of footage by default.
      To cut it shorter than 1 hour, drag the end-time bar closer to start-time bar. This lets you select the approximate length of the footage.
      When you are happy with the approximate length, click on the scissors icon. It will prompt you with ‘folder selection’ and also the type of the file you want to save as.
      Hope this works for you.
