Oppa, Noona, Unni, Hyung is not enough hahaha.
In Korean culture, calling people’s name is often considered rude sadly.
So here’s the guide that you can help yourself.
There are lots of exceptions, but I could only tell you the basic rules.
Please find it out :D!
Summary:
friends or people who are younger than you: call their names after asking their permission.
Unni, Oppa, Noona, Hyung
Formal situation: name+C (example: Lara C)
Professor, teacher, driver, CEO, manager etc: professor Nim, teacher Nim, driver Nim, CEO Nim, manager Nim

This makes my brain hurt just trying to remember all these titles and when to use them. Respect seems to be a very big thing in Korea (and other countries) and as someone who has grown up and been raised in a country that does not really have that sort of thing it is a rather weird thing for me to try and get used too. Thanks for the video its extremely helpful i will make sure i study and work on remembering how to address people properly before starting conversation with someone and potentially dissrespecting them. 😄😄
Thanks for this. Yes, I have talked to Koreans and at times easily can forget people's names if using the titles. I found it interesting the concept of "friend" is only for someone of the same age. I am grateful that I can have friends here in America no matter the age of the other person. Alot of my Korean friends loved this actually. I am older than a lot of my dongsengs as a result thanks to language exchange we got closer. If I was in Korea, we would not be friends at all based on societal expectations and deferences of respect due to age. I agree, I waited til I could call even dongsengs by name in Korean later on. But in English of course it is allowed to call someone by their name.
Being able to have friends of any age is not an uniquely American concept. Most languages do use a formal you but you just stop using it with each other and use the informal address when you become friends, regardless of age.

hahaha obrigada! Às vezes invejo a cultura que você pode chamar as pessoas como amigos, independentemente de suas idades. Por causa de todas essas palavras (oppa unni noona hyung) mesmo o fato de que eles estão tão perto, há algumas barreiras. Por exemplo, se o seu Unni muito perto disse algo estúpido e engraçado, você pode querer dizer "omg calar Unni hahaha", mas se você diz isso, as pessoas ao seu redor vai pensar que você é rude só porque você está usando palavras ruins para Unni. T_T ㅋㅋㅋ

If you search the name of the city and 360 "graus" that means degrees in portuguese you can found the same thing! Oh, and what i find interesting about this 360 degrees thing its the fact that the music its mixed with the music caracteristic of the city. The music playing therein recife is called maracatu. Search on youtube! You'll like it!

Wow this is so helpful. I've just started learning Korean and these are important things to know for proper social interaction that you can't just learn on your own. It's very similar to my culture as I'm from a West African country and you have appropriate ways of addressing people of various age groups and social ranks so it makes it easier for me to understand the concept. how about the "ah" and "ie"at the end of the name?
ex: taehyung-ah, Jimin(ie)
That's a nickname I guess
I know this was posted 2 years ago, but here’s a quick rundown:
The -ah is a grammatical thing that you put at the end of names when you’re calling someone whose name ends with a consonant. For names that end with a vowel you add -ya(ex. Yoongi-ya)
The -ie is also a grammatical thing you put at the end of names that end with a consonant (like Jimin or Namjoon) so the speaking flows naturally.

2º Adorei as explicações, principalmente porque eram bem simples de entender. Tinha bastante coisa que eu já sabia, tipo, Unni, Oppa, Hyung, Noona... Mas os outros eu não sabia. Gostei bastante e achei muito útil e explicativo, principalmente por eu querer ir pra Coreia, pra morar ou trabalhar.
No Brasil, nós não tem muitas formalidades. Então, não importa a hierarquia nós sempre chamamos pelo nome, tanto amigos, mais velhos, professores ou chefes. No caso de pessoas mais idosas, é senhor ou senhora, para manter o respeito.
3º e último haha. Eu gostaria de pedir para você fazer um vídeo falando sobre a escola coreana. Tipo, regras, costumes e tudo o mais. Porque eu quero muito estudar na Coreia, então tenho muita curiosidade.

while watching kdramas, i´ve also heared a combination of "name + A" (or sounded like "ya") ..when can it be used?
for example, in "The Innocent Man": Eun-Gi called him Ma-Roo-C, but then she started to call him Ma-Roo-A
When you first meet someone who is the same age or younger, you use +C. When you become closer, you use +A.

There's no difference! It's too long to call someone with name + oppa/unni so usually I just drop the name and say Unni/Oppa. But if I have to call him or her in far distance, I need to call name+oppa/unni because they won't know if I'm calling them if I just call "OPPA!!!" or "UNNI!!!"

I totally understand about the oppa hyung unnie noona term and it's very similar in my country as well. I have a korean friend and he said it's actually okay if you call an older person by name if you feel comfortable with it(like 2-3 years older because the age gap isnt that much different) but of course if its around 4++ of course it'd be more comfortable to use the noona hyung term because they definitely look older than you, unless if you wanna go yolo then they wont judge and they dont actually care

im korean 1st an swer is the name + [a] or [ya] sound. the differences is the last prononciation of name end in vowel or not in korea. for example you should call lala to "[lala+ ya]" cuz in the name lala , the last pronon is the "a " vowel. others like [ karl+ a]
and 2nd answer is normally the name + c
